User ImageDelilah is a lap-sitter, and she jumps up into Elekt's lap readily, purring and rubbing against him to be petted. Her presence had a price, after all.

"Not that many," Chiffon says, and shrugs lightly, "Couple of regulars already, but they're a little... quiet. One's here to, I don't know, stave off a hangover and the other is mostly here for the wi-fi. Delilah loves him like ********, but she's not choosy, you know? More like a dog than a cat."

Elekt leans back comfortably to let Delilah have more lap space to settle in, his hands up to the task of petting once his cup was placed a safe distance from kitty tails.

"That does not sound promising, perhaps a reading circle or something would drag up more customers? If you'd like I could put up some flyers in my shop, you wouldn't believe the rush I had in there the other day for corsets of all things."

User ImageDelilah lounges contentedly on him, purring softly.

Chiffon grins and leans in on the counter, "Corsets, huh? Not my bag but I do like seeing the pretty ladies in them. Send 'em over here next time," she indicates the store, "This place would be nice with someone to flirt with, and I don't flirt with guys." She wrinkles her nose, "I don't want this place getting a rep, either. Reading circle might be a good idea, or crafts night? Crafty ladies have always been a weakness of mine." She sighs, "Except I always find the crazies. This one ex, she knit me a scarf, and I come home one day and she's lit the damn thing on fire. In the sink, sure, but still. I mean, she was pissed because I'd um... dipped into something she didn't know I knew about but still. I needed that s**t, it was the only way to get through my shifts at the grocery store back then."

Elekt smiles wryly at the recalling of an ex, and cringes slightly at the end. He could well sympathize with that sort of desolation. "I think I drank my way through two degrees. It wasn't the academia that got me so much as the... people." The people, so foreign and the best way to get used to them had been to drown himself in their culture, to learn to assimilate, and oh no, they'd never seen him, it hadn't been interactions to kill, not the average A- in every class, the corner store owner who never remembered his name, but the people who did notice him.

"My ex... one of them, he hated me, viscerally, and I didn't even... I guess we weren't really together you know, it was sex, but he had this way of talking, like it meant something, and really, it's like the crazy creeps up on you, and you don't realize till it's too late and they're burning your paintings or something. I do not have a good track record for relationships." He laughs self consciously and shakes his head. "If you start a craft circle though I'll teach one maybe?"

User ImageChiffon winces in sympathy- her tales of woe didn't match up to Elekt's, precisely. Mostly at this point she thought the scarf on fire was funny. Even that awful grocery store was kind of funny now that she had a good job and never had to go there again. "s**t, man," is all she says, and goes over to the pastry case. There's one chocolate cornet left, and she plates it for him and brings it back. "On the house just for that ex story, Christ on a cracker," she says. "And yeah, we'll see about a craft circle, gotta talk to the boss-man. I'll tap you to come teach or at least like... get out of the shop or something. Meet nice people in a non-romantical way 'cause damn."

He laughs and looks guiltily at the pastry but accepts it from her. "It's... it's so far away now it feels, it doesn't even really hurt, but..." he shakes his head, "Beading and sizing is so much easier than romantic entanglements."

"I confess, I'm likely to use any teaching I do as an excuse to lighten my workload. I get so many requests, if I could teach someone how to make their own scarf that would be great." He takes a bite of the cornet and sighs in contentment, thanking her for it.

User Image"s**t yeah," she says, "I don't need anyone but Delilah and my Baby here," she pets the espresso machine, "in my life. And maybe more cute chicks to chat with at work. But if you feel that way about the crafting, I'll chat with the boss-man. I'm sure he'd like more business, too."

Fiddling with his purse for a moment he brings out an embossed business card and hands it over. "I'm free on weekends and most nights after the shop closes. I'd be glad to run any sort of group thing on crafts. I know there are a good number of us but we all seem so spread out here, it would be good to try and get people in the same place." With a sigh he looks at his drained cup and nods to himself. "I should actually get back. I have beading to finish. I'll hop over tomorrow though and pay you properly for coffee."

User ImageShe takes the card and nods. "Sounds good. Good luck with the beading and the corsets and s**t. I'll call you about the crafting. See you later!" And with that she's left with the rather passed-out drunk in the corner and her own thoughts. Well- the drunk didn't care if she lounged around instead of polishing Baby one more time.

Merwin comes in early as was per his usual despite being the single person currently on night shift and prone to also staying after a bit to help Chiffon when needed. Which was never at the moment, yet he stayed anyway under the guise.

Today he was a little more subdued, which as his usual standard was a notch above very calm tree sloth meant he was dragging his messenger bag along the ground until coffee had been sufficiently poured down his throat and his glasses had been given a good cleaning by the steam off the cup.

"I went to a party." Is what he says, when he manages to say anything.

User ImageChiffon watches his antics with interest, and maybe a dollop of sympathy- she likes Merwin, after all. But liking isn't enough to keep her from snorting with laughter, and then outright snickering. "You poor thing," she drawls, but at least she pulls him another shot and sets it down- in a souvenir shot glass from some hell hole bar that she shouldn't be bringing in the shop. "Was it that thing, or whatever? With the flyers?" She does not, as a rule, read the flyers. "How was that? Looks like it was kinda rough."

With the caffeine sorting him out he manages to stand up straight and put his bag away after fiddling with his apron. "It was the thing with the flyers. I hadn't thought to go but I was out in the courtyard reading and the music and lights started up so I went to check it out. The DJ ended up dancing on the tables and jumping off the speakers... at one point there was a giant wolf trying to dance and I think I made a friend, but someone gave me some water that was not water and now I can't remember what their name was."

He pauses, looking introspective. "All in all it was a unique experience, you should go next time, I'll cover your shift if I have to, I think you'd get a sight more out of it than I did."

User ImageChiffon snickers again, "Did someone give you vodka? No wonder you look rough. And giant wolves, really? That's a little unbelievable, man. Was this before or after the hooch? Sounds like a bitchin' party though, I'd love to go next time." She sighs and stretches a bit, "I wonder if they have a bartender there, hey? Be nice to have someone else making the drinks for once."

He shakes his head, "No I swear on it, there was a giant wolf." He neglects to explain it was actually a person, but that's fine. "It was before the vodka, and if there was much else I can't remember, I woke up on one of the rock displays a little before dawn."

He studies the counter-tops, but isn't really looking for dirt, it's just habit. "Why don't you apply for manager?" He questions.

User ImageHis question startles her usual smart responses right out of her, before she shrugs lightly. "I never really wanted to be The Man," she said, "And if I were a manager... I just wanna make coffee, not ******** with paperwork." She pauses, considering "Of course, then I would get to train the newbies just the way I like," and she grins, wolfishly, "Whip them up into shape, if we ever get any. Might even get to see the elusive b*****d who signs our checks."
