The entire area was devoid of magic, or any traces of it. It had the signature of any other normal mountain. "Maybe they know we're here? Or they could have ran..." Rowan said, throwing out suggestions. She shielded her eyes with her hand and scanned the area.
There would be a lot of scurrying coming from the north of the mountains the troops were heading. The scurrying quickly came into focus as an immense mass of small huddled bodies. Elongated limbs tore through rock as lizard-like creature headed towards the unsuspecting troops. The troops were caught off guard but fought bravely, tackling the mass head first.

He saw the mass heading to them. "I wish I was down there right now... Then I could be helping them..." He said as he would watch the battle. Scanning around him once and a while to make sure they themselves weren't ambushed. "Their going to need assistance however. Maybe a strength spell so they can punch through those scales."

Rowan nodded and raised her staff high intothe air. "On it. Tipreth!" she said. Magic flowed around her staff and she aimed it at thegroup. The magic settled on the Guards as before. The results were immediatelly seen, they were kicking and tearing their way through the creatures with much more ease. After a few minutes of intense fighting, 50 men were left standing among the corspes, exhausted. 10 did not have the fortune of escaping the attacks. With no time to bury their companions the guards continued up the mountain. Rowan shook her head at the scene. "We should follow." she said.

"Of course." He would cross the slopes now. His heels digging into the bare snow as his feet touched stone. He could start to feel the chill now. Scouting ahead of them as he would start a light jog to get ahead. Not wanting to spend to much energy on travel.

Rowan followed Frederick close behind, mindful of her steps in the thick snow. She clanced at the progession of the troops. They wer managing so far, an were almost at the first cave. Hopefully not he firs of many....
The ground beneath Frederick and Rowan would suddenly rumble. Then tremble violently. Rocks along the edges were chipped off and flung down many, many feet from the steep cliff. Rowan quickly stopped running to ballance herself. The sound continued as the land behind thm was displaced. was as if something was directly beneath the rocks!

He stumbled for a moment. Jamming his sword in the ground to have something to hold on too. He felt the vibrations. Not knowing what was happening. "What the hell is going on!" He shouted over the rocks as he waited for the rumbling to stop.

"I don't know! Some kind of mountain creature under the ground!" she shouted over the rumbling. Rowan turned to look at the plateau they had just crossed, seeing the rocks jut upwards in a trail as whatever it was approached them. It tore through the ground, and left hardly any space to walk. Rowan gasped and turned to head the opposite direction. "Run!" yelled Rowan.

Frederick looked back. "It's just one of those days..." He pulled out his Great Sword and started running ahead. Only looking back once or twice to see if Rowan was able to keep to his pace. Slightly faster than before due to not wearing his armor. Though stumbling on awkward angles as the ground shook.

Rowan followed as the rumbling grew louder. Rocks and dust were flung in the direction they left, making it difficult to see. The creature rapidly advanced. Suddenly all sound ceased as the dust settled, the creature had...gone? Rowan turned to glance behind her, seeing the churning rocks stop. As if whatever was in it stopped too. Suddenly, there was a rumblin infront of Frederick. The ground infront of him cracked and jutted upwards as a massive worm stuck the upper half of its body out, screeching.

Frederick had stopped when he had heard the silence. Looking back. He was relieved to see Rowan. With a sigh of relief he looked back in front of him. Rocks burst out towards him. Shards cutting him up quite badly as he fell backwards. One large rock slamming into his chest. Grunting painfully as he lost his breath he stumbled back. Looking up at the worm. He took some heavy breaths. Adrenaline rising he stood up with his sword high. Scratches covering his face. He braced himself, though afraid. He had fought worms before... but none that could dig through stone.

Rowan's eyes widened when Frederick was struck by the rocks, and the hideous creature causing the rumbling rose from the ground. "Are you alright?!" she asked a she tried to help him up. The worm screeched and turned its head towards them, revealing its putrid mouth lined with layers upon layers of sharp, jagged teeth. Rowan stepped back and waved her staff towards Frederick. "Tipreth!" she yelled, casting the spell that would increase his strength. The creature growled and threw itself at him. "Shield!" A shield of magic enveloped them both. The creature crashe vioently against the shield and twisted its head as it was sent back. The shield quickly disappeared afterwards.

Frederick would take advantage of the shield and the way the worm would spin his head around. Sticking his blade out and slashing at the mouth of the creature. Making sure to hold the blade in place so that the blade would rip apart it's mouth. He grunted heavily as he struggled to maintain the heavy strike.

The creature screeched as it felt its mouth being torn by the blade, yet it pressed forward, its gaping mouth dripping with blood. The creature couldn't keep up any longer and it recoiled, lifting its mouth and squirming in agony. More rock around the creature would jut out as it struggle to get the rest of its body out of the rock. In total, it was perhaps 22 feet long

Frederick would flinch at the rocks again. Though the shield protecting him once again. He would jump forward as it would struggled. Taking his sword and jabbing it in the center as it squirmed to get out of the ground. Hoping that holding his blade their would make it cut open itself as it made it's way up.

The worm continued to squirm despite the sword impaled in its stomach. It broke loose of the earth and heaved its body upwards. The motion made its lower half split from the sword in a nasty wound, dirty blood gushed out of it and onto Frederick. Once it was out the worm twitched, yet flung its lower half a Frederick. Determined to kill, despite its injuries.
