Welcome to Charms!
Your Professor for this class is Professor Morgenstern. While all of you may be here for different reasons; it's required, you love charms, your parents are forcing you, or anything else; there are a number of expectations for this class:
1. Come to class on time and be prepared to learn with wand, parchment, and quill. 2. Be respectful to both your fellow students and your professor. 3. Follow directions and try your hardest in class. 4. Don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for help. 5. Have fun.
Together we can make this a great year in Charms class. I look forward to getting to know all of you better and helping you become better students and people.
Your Task:
On your desks as you enter you will see a piece of parchment. Pick any seat and please answer the questions and turn it into me at my desk. I want to get to know all of you the best I can in order to help you succeed so be honest and don't hold back. Nobody but you and myself will see these.

Elizabeth Higgs; Seventh Year, Hufflepuff Clothing
The large wooden door creaked as Beth arrived. The classroom was empty and hollow. Her shoes clicked against the floor as she made her way to a seat on the far side of the room. Beth toyed with her ring and sat in excited anticipation of the arrival of other students and Professor Morgenstern. Charms had always been one of her favourite classes.
Nigel darted in, catching the door before it closed. He aimlessly wandered through the class, studying the worn stones of the floor, the rippled glass, the dust motes floating listlessly around the ceiling. He whistled cheery tune which echoed around the empty classroom, lending it an even emptier feel. In time, he made his way over towards where Beth was sitting, and plunked himself down three seats over. "Hey," he said with a gentle smile.
Jasper was excited for the first day of classes. In his excitement though he had lost track of time. The professor had planned out the first day down to the last detail, but he had not accounted for his unreliability in the matter. Jasper was rushing through the halls like a student late to class when he approached his classroom. He did not however use the normal entrance, Jasper entered from the adjoining room as to not seem as though he wasn't ready for the first day of classes.
Upon entering, the first thing Jasper did was pull his wand from his robes and flick it at the chalkboard. Immediately the chalk started to write. Walking towards the center of the room, Jasper flicked his wand again and a drawer of his desk opened revealing a stack of parchment. The parchment zoomed to places at each desk and appeared to be blank. The words would only appear if a student was focused on it.
Jasper made sure the chalkboard was writing what it should be before he turned his attention to the two students that had entered the room before him. As both of them were seventh years Jasper knew them both quite well.
"Good Morning Miss Higgs and Mister Clayworthy. He said quite amiably. "I hope my secret is safe with you two." He said with a wink. Jasper was of course referring to his late and rushed arrival to the first day of classes. Having finally reached his desk, Jasper realized how gloomy the room felt, and he flicked his wand at the windows. The blinds rushed open and beams of light shone into the classroom."Much better."

Ash ran through the hallways on her way to Charms class and knew she was going to be late, she saw the classroom door and ran in not realizing a desk would be so close to the door as she tripped over it and landed face first on the floor. Ash sat up rubbing her face "that hurt" she looked up and saw a couple seventh years and Mr. Morgenstern she bowed her head and whispered out "sorry" she stood and looked at the teacher knowing she was most likely going to get into trouble

Arianna rushed down the halls fearing she was going to be late to class on the first day of class. That would be great! Professor Morgenstern would be thrilled with me. She pushed open the large doors to the Charms classroom and entered letting them swing shut behind her. She avoided crashing into her fellow Gryffindor, Ash. Ari smiled at the girl as she passed her. Arianna found herself a seat near the middle where she could blend in.
Ari enjoyed Charms but it wasn't her strong suit. It took hours of practice to get anywhere in her homework. She glanced down at the parchment in front of her and the words started to appear. She dug into her pack and found her quill and ink.

At first, the sharp, yet musical, whistling noise startled Beth from her daydream, as it echoed in the large, acoustically-hollow room. Her head snapped towards the door. "Oh hello Nigel!" she returned. "You scared me silly..."
Her attention was then claimed by Professor Morgenstern. Beth smiled back at him right away, "Of course it is." Professor Morgenstern was occasionally scatterbrained, somewhat like herself. The light rushing in through the windows was warm on her pale face and instantly warmed the room in both temperature and atmosphere/appearance. She was about to ask the Professor a question when there was a loud crash in the back of the room. A young Gryffindor had tripped over a desk near the doorway. Beth smiled at her, trying to offer a bit of kindness before returning her attention to the front of the room.
Having long forgotten the question she had been about to ask the Professor, Beth turned to Nigel and gestured to the piece of parchment that was on her desk. It was, undoubtedly, the 'Getting to Know You' quiz that teachers at Hogwarts seemed to adore. Every year, she had filled one out for each class. Beth rolled her eyes, considering that Professor Morgenstern probably has her answers memorized by this point.
Upon finishing this questionnaire, Beth stood and waltzed over to Professor Morgenstern's desk to hand it in.
1. Name: Elizabeth Higgs 2. Year: Seventh 3. House: Hufflepuff 4. Why you are taking this class: Because it's relevant to my interests and future area(s) of study. 5. Brief description of your knowledge of Charms: Years 1-6 Charms with Professor Jasper Morgenstern. 6. Favourite class: Anything that has wandwork involved, really. Transfiguration and Charms in particular, however I have a soft spot for Care of Magical Creatures (like really: a soft, fuzzy, feathery spot). 7. What you want to do after graduation: I would like to take on some sort of apprenticeship in wand-making. Then, I want to open my own wand shop. 8. Role Model: Oh gosh... Wonder woman? 9. Interest/Likes: Sketching, musical things (cough cello cough), chocolate, and quidditch. However, for the purposes of this class, I like practical wandwork. 10. Dislikes: Things that are boring? (cough potions cough) Snooty people. 11. Anything else you feel I should know about you: You know me pretty well, I think. smile You could probably guess most of my answers to this sheet.

Henrietta Agate Thorn-11 years old..1st year Slytherin Henrietta stepped in, unsure if she'd be welcomed here. She's read that this was one of her core classes, but she wasn't even positive she was on time. Looking around the classroom, she was easily intimidated by older peers actually capable of bringing her down.
Stepping inside and selecting a seat into the middle of the classroom, selected a seat towards the middle of a row and put her stuff down quietly. Upon the discovery of a classroom assignment already, she was dismayed, but she answered the questions dutifully. Taking notes in her classroom notebook, she peered over at the older students and waved.
Upon completion, she shuffled to the teacher desk. Nodding to the other student beside her, she put it on the desk and looked up to the other. A Hufflepuff apparently, if the uniform was anything to go by.

Vera had lost track of time. Her mind was suck in a book, a gift from one of her older sisters and time had seemed to fly without her notice. It was deeply engrossing, and had all the right stuff.. or as far as she could tell she had only picked it up this morning. Knights in shining armor and ladies most fair, swam across her minds eye.
She was only vaguely aware that she could be somewhere when she heard the sound rushing footsteps. Then another set of them, the last set made her look up, and notice the clock. Which sent her jumping up with a start and rushing herself to the door. She'd station herself in a nook waiting for class to start, so she would be early. Well best laid plans and all.
Right before she went into the class, she calmed steps and sheepishly walked in. Then sat down in the first open desk she could find. On it she easily found piece of parchment and started writing as neatly and fast as she could.

What you want to do after graduation:Help run my father potions shop or open my own 8. Role Model: Hmm that's a hard one, Neville Longbottom, does come to mind, but my father would have to be whom I look up to the most. 9. Interest/Likes:Reading, Horse/Horse like beast and beings. Flying and Quidditch 10. Dislikes:Being over looked, but also having too much spotlight. 11. Anything else you feel I should know about you: Nope not really, thank you for asking though.

Nigel Clayworthy, Seventh Year
"Oh, haha, sorry!" Nigel absently nodded to the Professor's remark as his attention began to wander again. He started humming and tapping his hands on the desk. Snapping back to attention, Nigel went to work on the questionnaire. For a brief moment, he considered filling in random answers: Professor Morgenstern would have to be trying pretty hard to not already know most of this stuff already.
1.) Name: Nigel Clayworthy 2.) Year: Seventh 3.) House: Slytherin 4.) Why you're taking this class: Because it's fun, whimsical, and practical! 5.) Brief description of your knowledge of Charms: Six years of Charms at Hogwarts. 6.) Favourite class: Potions. 7.) What you want to do after graduation: I'll take my skills out into the world and see where the winds blow me. 8.) Role Model: My dad. Raising five kids in a half magical half Muggle home is no easy task. 9.) Likes: Potions, playing the harmonica, playing cards. 10.) Dislikes: Not really anything. 11.) Anything else: I suffer from horrible night terrors and have been known to run around shreiking in my sleep. Also, I sleep in class a lot.

Jaxion was near the front of the Charms classroom. He had always anticipated learning new enchantments every year but this year he was hoping it would be more challenging. Jaxion's attention went to the board as he read through all of the questions on the questionnaire. Quickly and silently he filled them out.

1. Name: XXXXXJaxion McCulloch 2. Year: XXXXXFifth Year 3. House: XXXXXRavenclaw 4. Why you are taking this class: XXXXXI'm extremely interested in the depth of which charms has effected our world. Without charms we would be useless. I'm excited to learn everything I possibly can. 5. Brief desciption of your knowledge of Charms: XXXXXI know a good bit, but I wish to know more. 6. Favorite class: XXXXXDefense Against the Dark Arts, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, and Potions. 7. What you want to do after graduation: XXXXXI have high hopes that I could play professional Quidditch but then I also have an interest in researching magical creatures. I think my ultimate plan would be to travel around the world and see everything I possibly can. 8. Role Model: XXXXXI admire my father and mother more than anything but if I could name someone else I'd say Albus Dumbledore. 9. Interest/Likes: XXXXXI really enjoy Quidditch, outdoors, swimming, hiking, animals/creatures, and practicing spells. 10. Dislikes: XXXXXI don't enjoy being cooped up inside, bullies, and spicy food.. 11. Anything else you feel I should know about you: XXXXXI wish to push my abilities further than last year by practicing more challenging incantations. If there are any you can suggest that I study please let me know.
Once finished he reread it to make sure everything sounded alright then got up from his seat and went over to Professor Morgenstern's desk. Jaxion gave him a grin and handed in his parchment. "Hello Professor Morgenstern, I'm glad to be in your classroom again. Did you have a nice break?" Jaxion greeted then asked him as he slowly made his way back to his desk.
