The very first thing that came out of her mouth was a simply question. Why she had said. It made the stranger's eyes change immediately. His expression turned heavy, as if mirroring the pain and fear she had held. He paused for a moment and parted his lips to speak. But at first he could not find the words that would comfort her-

And then Zylvanness used her like he always planned. "Choose you?" he asked softly. "Tsuna... I promise you I have wanted nothing more than to help you. Your loved ones have been stricken with a most awful ailment... and I cannot begin to explain how sorry I am that-" he paused, hesitant to respond. He clenched his jaw, as if biting down hard on his tongue. "it is my fault - but I did not do this to you, or them. My power has been stolen, used by a betrayer for evil. I... I chose you because I had no other choice. There was a moment when what little power I have could reach out to you, during your battle with the undead lich. So I grabbed on from all the way at the edge of the universe. Ever since I have been trying to get your attention. But you were too far away. Once I realised your connection to the grey world... I knew that I had to guide you there so that I could speak with you. Please, I beg that you understand I am only guilty of allowing my power to be in the wrong hands."

Tsuna Miki

She noticed that his eyes changed and his expression became heavy as if he were switching tactics to gain her trust and console her. He landed on using the why for choosing her and corrected himself by simply wanting to "help", but in her mind it sounded more like exploit. He sounded regretful to an extent and even took the initiative to recount his own transgressions. According to him his power was stolen by a Betrayer of Evil and he had no choice but to choose her. When she battled the undead lich, the little power he possessed reached out to her. All the way at the edge of the universe he has been trying to get into connect with her all this time. It wasn't until now that she entered the Prince's world that he could final guild her to him. He even begged for forgiveness leaving a sour taste in her mouth. She had to give him credit for being on hell of an actor as she considered possible empathy for him, but something still didn't sit right. This undeniable cold, heartless aura that sounded him, the way he stringed his words together to gain her favor, and the way he wouldn't name this mysterious enemy directly.

Closing her eyes, she had to regain herself and breath deeply collecting her thoughts carefully before she spoke. Resorting to anger is pointless, sympathizing would mean putting on fake performance which he could see through, so the only choice left was to relent. For now, work with him whether he was lying or not to get out of this place and back to her friends. She didn't want to be alone anymore craving their guidance of love. Opening her eyes again and steading herself she was able to carry out a conversation more stably. "If what you say is true, then who is this Betrayer of Evil that stole your power? If I can get it back for you can you use it to save the ones I love? A favor for a favor..." She hated making back handed deals like this, but she had exhausted the rest of her options.

Zylvanness waited for her response, standing still as a statue with a heavy expression. When she finally spoke he nodded carefully. "Yes - yes I can. This misuse of my power can be undone. But only once they are defeated and my power returned to me. The betrayer is a Necromancer that goes by the name of Mor'Laz. Defeat him and return the relic he stole from me to my resting place... then I will make right all that is wrong. The disease he is casting, the ailment on your loved ones..." Zylvanness paused again, "It's not too late"

Tsuna Miki

Tsuna's brow raised as if he questioned his own skill once he regains his powers. He even went so far as to finalize the terms of her task, otherwise she'd receive nothing in return. The betrayer is some Necromancer that goes by Mor'Las and she had to defeat him to obtain some relic. She also had to return the relic to his resting place...as if she knew where that was. He assured he could fix everything and that it wasn't to late making her highly question the validity of these statements. Her expression changed to a hard, inquisitive look as she eyed the man up and down. "Are where do you expect me to find this Necromancer? Not only that, but what about the place where you rest? I don't know where that is or who you even are. For someone of nobility, your disregard for formalities leads me to believe that your parading as one. Giving me some mysterious task with no details. I can't trust you." She stepped away from him even though there was no where to run. To be honest, he can't trust her either because she could do part of this task and then backstab him taking the power for herself.

Zylvanness' eyebrows narrowed as she questioned the finer details of his quest. He parted his lips to speak whilst carrying the emotional weight of his request on his eyes. He knew he had to tell her specifics, but it could compromise his story if he did. Of course he knew the Necromancer was in Bloodholme, of course he knew exactly where he deathbed was. The thought still stung. It was with her. The wretched 'goddess' that destroyed him and his people. But Zylvanness pondered not on the past, instead his attention was caught by the cutting final words of Tsuna as she explained that she could not trust him. He believed that he was putting on a good show - but it would appear this little girl was not someone that would trust even the sincerest of souls.

New Music

He closed his lips and took a step back, matching Tsuna but with an entirely different meaning. Whilst Tsuna stepped back to create space between them, he did so to straighten his posture and assert his dominance between them - no matter the distance. His eyes turned more sharp, his complexion paled, and whatever earnest smile he was forcing had now long vanished. His long silver hair turned black, and as the darkness swallowed up every strand it spready down over his clothes. An invisible cloth rippled and began to fall down from his chest. It fell, swinging around around him to reveal itself as a new cape, heavy with embroidery and colours of blue, black and silver. This also revealed his true attire that was hidden beneath the illusion. He wore plate armour from head to toe, it was a dark, slightly blueish metal with silver accents. His shoulders and chest were accented with metal shaped into gryphon skulls with glowing blue eyes. Ancient runes decorated the plates, thrumming with power that swallowed any and all light around them. From his feet spread frost that consumed every blade of grass around them. The lake beside them froze over, and the morning sun quickly turned into an icy blue sphere. The palace behind turned dark, accompanied by an elegantly twisted citadel of black metal behind it. Finally, Zylvanness' eyes took on their familiar, spectral blue glow.

He finally spoke, revealing that his voice from before was now deeper and echoed, as if stretched and ghostly. "Trust is not something I require of you. And now I understand it is not something you have much left to give. Nevertheless - it is a flaw that will be your ultimate demise. A flaw which has you mistaking fakes for true royalty." An ornate, blackened crown of metal and dark blue crystals then materialised on his head. It was obviously of elven make, but appeared to have been changed by the corrupting power this man held. "I am King of the Betrayed, Ruler of the Sin'thorei, Father of the Cold-Hearted... I am... Zylvanness. And you are too late."

Tsuna Miki

The insult triggered something within him forcing him to drop his facade. He stepped back to match her, but not in a jest of mistrust but to insert dominance over her. His smile faded, skin paled, and his eyes sharpened giving him more of a ominous appearance. Darkness seeped out converting his silver hair to pitch black and absorbing into his wardrobe. Invisible cloth rippled from him falling from his chest and swing fluently as if unraveled from the illusion it was under. A new cape that was heavily embroidered with blue, black, and silver colors complimented the metal plating that covered him from head to toe, which was a dark blueish metal with silver accents. The metal on his shoulders and chest were shaped like gryphon skulls obtaining the familiar arcane eyes in the hallow sockets. Runes that thrummed with power snuffed out all light around them and from his feet froze choked the life out of the once luscious green grass. The lake froze over and the sun turned into a foreboding icy blue sphere. Along with the man's spectral blue eyes, the palace behind them became a twisted black citadel. Tsuna tensed the entire transition, ears flattened to her head, tail limp, as she shook from the freezing atmosphere penetrating her skin. This was the true villain, not that phony persona he was trying to flaunt earlier.

His deepened voice echoed with a ghostly presences that threatened to strike her down where she stood. He didn't want her trust, and as he stated its something that she couldn't provide which would be her downfall; so she's been told before. His royal title was in fact genuine as an ornate, black metal crown with blue crystalized materialized on his head. The elven crown has been tainted with his corrupted power and he finally announced his name. Her eyes widened in shock, but not at the long-winded title he anointed himself with, but with a name that she had heard before. Vendeth lingered at the back of her mind like a premiant scar that would never fully heal. Her insanity was instantly validated as Tsuna's mind raced to think of a plan, a last Hail Mary. She wondered if he knew that they had met, but seeing his egotistical transformation and assertive supremacy she could tell that her and Vendeth were nothing but grains of sand on a beach for him to walk over without a second though. Vendeth was more like a wild card...She paused her thoughts thinking over them and picking out two words. Card. Pawns. Game. It was as a light bulb went off over her head and now she realized what this all way; a game to him.

Tsuna had to get a grip over herself and straighten up because cowering and sniveling weren't what Zylvanness wanted. He wanted a challenge, a worthy opponent and digging past the fear she secretly wanted that connection herself. The mission he had provided her early was a lie, but some key elements were not because of the way he reacted to her questions. The Necromancer Mor'laz was important, so was the mentioning of his deathbed; could be something physical she could use against him, and it a relic did exist it was another tool she could use. If she can defeat the necromancer, track down Vendeth and align her to her side, she could make all these goals a reality. However, she had to be clever and use every assert provided to her but first she needed to gain his favor to free herself from this illusion. Tightening her fists, she slowed down her persistent shaking enough to where she could put on a cocky smile to hide her fearful side. "No I'm not." She corrected him almost confidently as she straightened up forcing her ears to p***k up. "The game is still in play, the pieces set, you wouldn't want to end things early, would you?"

She paused waiting for him to make a connection as she summed up every ounce of courage she had to walk towards him and began circling him like a vulture. Her tail methodically swayed back and forth barely brushing up against the metal that incased his strong physique. Being this close was suffocating, yet she grinned and bared it as she continued. "You stirred up all this commotion because you were bored. You summoned me as a key player knowing that I'd be some kind of obstacle, not that you needed one of course. And you and I both know that any game can't just be played with one player so allow me to introduce three minor stipulations. It'll heighten your experience, your highness, and the scales will still be tipped in your favor." Whether she caught his attention or not, she continued. "One, you allow me to leave her and return to my realm with all the memories of this moment we have shared together. I mean, who wouldn't want to know about the King of the Betrayed, Ruler of Sin'thorei, Father of the Cold-Hearted, Zylvanness." Saying his name and title and adding a little bow while still circling was sure to impress him, even a little. "Second, myself and anyone aligned with me on my side are to be left alone. No mind, body, or any other control over us. If they are to turn against me, well, they're fair game." This would be harder for her to follow than him knowing her mistrust was a huge issue. "Lastly, if you should agree to these "obstacles" they cannot be rewritten, changed, or altered in any way, shape or form." She stopped in front of him allowing him to ponder this notion before she continued.

"My goal is to beat you, stop the arcane, and save those I love on my own merit. I've made it this far, of course, but honestly beating someone as powerful as you is truly impossible. However, if I do win, which again is unlikely, all I ask is that you leave never to return or harm anyone in this realm or timeline again. I can't kill you that much is obvious." She didn't know that for sure, but she had to appeal to him as much as possible. "And when you win you'll have anything you want." Laying it on thick would increase a successful negotiation. Plus, she couldn't possibly comprehend what he wanted to accomplish or what he could desire. She stuck out her hand even though every fiber in her body did not want to experience his cold, heartless touch she had to solidify the deal. A deal that she prayed he would take because she had nothing else to offer and no other way out. "Come on, its not everyday someone like me gets to play against a God."

Zylvanness' tilted his head ever so slightly. He admired her bravery to test him, even if it was entirely pointless. He chose not to reply. Instead he remained silent and let the emptiness suggest to her it was time to explain what she meant. In the conversation that followed Tsuna put forward that she was an obstacle in a great game that Zylvanness was playing. The most intriguing part was that she thought she was a player on this chest board. Her first condition made his lip curl, giving away an ounce of enjoyment. As she circled she created two further conditions. That she and her party be untouched by any dominating powers. Then the last condition simply meant the other two could not be changed.

Zylvanness chuckled, his voice rumbling in the frigid space around them. "Very well" he said, "I shall not dominate or influence you or your party and you shall remember everything that has happened here." Zylvanness reached out with his own slender arm. His dark gauntlet wrapped it's fingers around Tsuna's palm and the moment they touched she could feel the sensation of icy growing down her spine. "But no one said you could speak of it" he smiled, baring a shiny white fang, "your mother was also fond of games."

Zylvanness commanded the memory of this place to wither and die instantly. In that moment he also placed a curse on her so that she could never specifically say his name or reference his description to others at all. In an instant the ice cold touch of his hand was gone from Tsuna's palm and the world around her returned to the In-Between. The Prince of Crows was stood before her with his arms crossed. "Your back? You've been frozen for days."

Tsuna Miki

His laugher not only shook the plane they inhabited, but her very core. He agreed to her conditions and took her hand causing the frigid feeling to trail down her spine. It felt like thousands of needles stabbing from behind causing her to stand on end quiet literally. As an extra challenge he cursed her unable to mention a breath of his name which will make the return to the real world all the more difficult. How was she going to explain herself? Not like she could write it down either. As she parted her lips in disbelief, he left her with one last notion to ponder about her mother. The fact that he had met her, engaged with her left a pit in her stomach as the memory around them withered away. In an instant, the horrific fantasy and his numbing icy touch were gone as she was thrust back into the In-Between. She gasped as if she had been stuck underwater desperately trying to resurface for air. It took a minute to realize the Prince of Crows was standing in front of her arms crossed and unastonished as usual. It also took a minute to process what he had just said causing her to look at him in panic. "Days..." She swallowed harshly as she finally stumbled aside practically losing her footing. She studied herself and began searching around for the connection she felt with her teammates no matter how small.

"I...have to go..." If the Prince has said something or asked her to explain she exhaustedly waved him off. She reached out focusing with what little consciousness she clung to until that invisible rope tugged back. Without thought she stumbled forward and finally escaped the In-Between.

She reappeared out of thin air stumbling into a room the was quiet spacious considering she didn't crash into anything. Her body immediately went into scenery overload hearing muffled voices call out to her. Fatigue, dehydration, starvation, and pain from the now bruised welt on her cheek hit her all at once. Her vision blurred as she collapsed with seconds upon returning to the physical word. She had ended up in the dorm that Alexis had assigned Team Sun, but wasn't able to relish in their protective warm. She must have looked and felt like death to them. Her body wouldn't stop convulsing from the cold, and her skin was beyond pale. The blood on her upper lip had no sense dried making her state even worse and she wouldn't be surprised if she frightened them. When she does finally awake, she has more than explaining to do and this time an apology may not be enough.

Micha'el and Lottie were both sat back against the wall on one of the bests in their team dormitory. It wasn't anything like their separate rooms at Hope, but it was spacious. The room was vaulted with a tall, ornate arched window. Blue sheer curtains hung down, letting in a slight breeze from the window. It was dark outside now, with twilight spilling through. The room glows with gentle sapphire light running through thin glyph-lines carved into the stone floor and up the walls. The air carries a low, comforting hum - Merlin Academy’s controlled arcana at rest. The space feels communal but calm, engineered for harmony rather than chaos. Along the curved back wall are four recessed sleeping alcoves, each carved into the stone like small, cosy caverns. They are open, not sealed off, but shaped for privacy. In the middle of the room a circular depression in the floor forms a relaxed conversation pit filled with plush cushions and a low hovering table that rotates gently so everyone can reach snacks, notes, or spell components. Arcane lanterns float overhead, adjusting brightness automatically depending on whether the team is studying, resting, or planning missions. Opposite the sleeping alcoves is a long curved desk built directly into the wall with four personal stations.

Lottie leaned her head against Micha'el's. She could feel tiredness trying to take her but she wasn't to cling on to this moment. They had always been close. They were always comfortable with each other and resting together always felt normal. But right now she simply wanted to enjoy his touch. They were side-by-side against the wall, the alcove of the sleeping area that Micha'el had taken was lit with a dull blue glow. His shoulder beneath her cheek was more comfortable that any of the cushions here, and she only hoped that Micha'el thought her head was as comfortable against his cheek.

"Do you think you'll do it?" Lottie asked. She could feel her heart skip a beat in anticipation for Micha'el's answer. "I'm not sure..." he said, "but the longer I think about it... the more I feel that I should."
"Do you want to?" Lottie stared down at their laps, her knee was barely resting against Micha'el's leg. Her hands were claps on her lap, she could see him pinching his other arm. Out of habit she calmly placed her hand on his bicep. He paused, then relaxed. "I think I do... but is it selfish?"
"To do as you've been asked?"
"No" Micha'el shook his head lightly, as to not disturb her, "I want to... but I'm not sure I want her to have all the power. If I'm the key... then shouldn't I have some portion of that power? It's related to the Aria, after all?"
Lottie pondered the thought, imagining the Starwell and the power that must reside deep within. "I think that with the right intentions you are right. But that can also be dangerous. It's difficult for anyone to be trusted with so much power."
"We could share it" he said quickly, "among those that are worthy. Or... well it might not even work." Micha'el flinched, nearly throwing Lottie's head against the wall when she flinched in retaliation to try to find whatever it was that Micha'el was flinching at. "Tsuna!" he gasped, sitting up right on the bed as he looked across the floor to see Tsuna exhausted. The two of them quickly jumped up and came to a skidding stop at her side. She looked awful. "Tsuna!" Lottie called, leaning down to her friend's face. Micha'el was attempting to pick her up already whilst summoning his light to try and sooth her. "You're freezing" he said, to which Lottie touched Tsuna's skin and found she was cold as ice. "Where have you been? Tsuna? Stay with us please!"

An hour later the room was lit with a warm soothing glow of the arcane floating lamps. Micha'el had been using his own light to gently sooth Tsuna, bringing up her temperature slowly so that she would stop shivering. Lottie had insisted on taking her to the infirmary but Micha'el had to remind her that none of the faculty knew where she was, not even themselves if they were being honest. He surmised that it had to be something to do with that Prince of crows, but how could they explain that? Alexis might lose their trust in them for hiding secrets, Tsuna's future to save Ivan might be ruined. "We can't tell anyone... anyway, I have brought her heartbeat back down to a normal rhythm" Micha'el said. Lottie placed her hand on Tsuna's, sighing in relief that she no longer felt like a statue. During the last hour she had been cleaning up Tsuna's face with a warm wet cloth. "We are lucky to have you, Micha'el" she said, smiling at him. He paused his healing for a brief moment before suddenly remembering what he was doing and shrugging off the compliment. "I mean it" she said, seeing his eyes avoid the compliment, or any kind of comment about him mattering at all. "I..." Lottie couldn't find the words, but she knew she wanted to say more. It stood on the tip of her tongue, waiting to dive off the cliff and into the maelstrom below. But she didn't know if she would be able to swim afterwards, or drown in her words. "I miss Tsuna" she said instead.
"Me too" Micha'el said, "I think she is coming to" he then added, standing up suddenly whilst Tsuna leaned over to rub Tsuna's shoulder carefully, hoping to stir her.

Tsuna Miki

Tsuna was starting to regain consciousness listening in on the last parts of their seemingly intimate conversation. She opened her eyes and let out a groggy moan as Lottie shook her shoulder gently. She stared up at to blurry faces that slowly became more recognizable as she tired eyes adjusted to the dim glow above. She wasn't laying on a cold floor, but a bunch of cushioned pillows in the center of the dormitory she had ended up in. Not far from them was a levitating table that spun around for ultimate accessibility. The room was spacious with tall vaulted ceilings with floating lanterns disburse throughout giving off a glow to whatever ambiance was suitable for the teams inside. It was night as twilight crept through the open windows allowing a light breeze to flutter against the sheer blue curtains. Thin glyph-lines lit sapphire blue and ran through the exterior powering it with pure arcane energy. Alcoves were carved out of stone creating a cozy cavern for its guests and aside from that was a long desk split into four private cubicles. The advanced ingenuity of this place far surpassed anything at Hope, and they should consider themselves lucky to be granted this much.

Tsuna let herself adjusted and look around before she started speaking instantly putting on her famous smirk to dissolve the tension. "I'm I interrupting?" She embarrassed the two and could help, but breath out a small snort of relief. However, she could hide behind the humor forever and decided to quell their anticipation. She shakily sat up letting her teammates help her realizing just how frustratingly weak she was. Once up, she gestures for them to sit because this conversation was going to be a hard and heavy one.

"There's so much to say...it's just finding where to start. I haven't been a dependable team leader, and I don't think I should hold that position any further. For now we're equals, and I want to support you as much as you support me. As for what happened at the Starwell, my immature prank turned out to be something more than I barged for. I shouldn't have treated you the way I did and if I could take it back I would." She paused as she glanced away sadly, ashamed of her actions. She would gladly erase herself from the equation entirely if it was the only was to give her friends the happiness the rightfully deserved. "I didn't mean to disappear. I was trapped in the In-Between, a realm meant for the lingering spirits of the dead. I tried to leave, but quickly realized I was stuck and the only way to contact you was through ghostly interactions. You two were my tether to this world and without that connect I would have been lost. I may have eavesdropped where I shouldn't have though..." She admitted painfully before moving on. "After I last made contact with you, I noticed the Prince of Crows was no longer with me. He had been absorbed further into that realm do to me being there because I'm his tether to this world. I had to break the tether and go in after him knowing I wouldn't survive on my own. Going in deeper, I was confronted with-" She stopped herself from shaking as she hugged her body trying to recount every horrific detail. "There was a pair of disembodied glowing blue eyes. The same eyes that inhabit the infected souls we've come across. I tried to run with the Prince, but in that place there is no moving forward or backwards. It's all stagnant. Afterwords, the Prince of Crows and I got into an altercation." She paused against bushing the bruise on her cheek, the throbbing had somewhat subsided.

"We were talking when my mind was pulled away from my body, or at least that's the only way I can describe it. I was transported to the realm...it looked more like a fantasy illusion that this king _" She opened her mouth to say Zylvaness's name, but nothing came out. It was as if an invisible gag was shoved into her mouth every time causing her to shake her head furiously. "Let's just say, this evil we've been facing is a an high ranking elven king from centuries past. Talking to him was like conversing with Death itself. At first he tried to convince me that his intentions for me were worthy, until I opened my big mouth insulting his validity. The memory around me changed into something dark as it was buried in ice...freezing me alive along with it. I heightened to his sycophancy since he thinks of this...of us...as a game he plays out of boredom. I made a deal with him, inserting myself as a player, issuing my own stipulations. One, I'd remember him, that place, and our deal. Two, that anyone I'm allied with is to remain untouched by any sort of control. And three, that these rules could not be changed. In return, he implied his own rule and it seems to have worked for I cannot say his name. It was the only way to leave and when the terms were met he threw me out, not before throwing my own mother in my face. She dead! And he...and he knew her." Tsuna felt disgusted and scared still wondering how long he had been around planning this nightmare. "When I came back to my body the Prince of Crows said I had been standing there for days. Panicked I felt around for your tether and escaped." Tears began welling in her eyes as she begged for forgiveness. "I'm so sorry...none of this should have ever happened...and if you weren't with me...then you'd...you'd be happy." She needed them so much, much more than they needed her, or at least that's what she thought.

As Tsuna stirred, the first thing she commented on was Lottie and Micha'el's moment. Lottie stumbled on her words, whilst Micha'el was too stunned to speak. "I-I we. uh. Pft, no, what would you be interrupting?"
"Don't answer that" Micha'el added. In the moments that followed the weight of Tsuna's vanishing came down on them, and so she gestured for them to sit and listen.

Her story began with her admitting she will no longer be leader, but they will lead the team together as one. Lottie tilted her head, as if to disagree, whilst Micha'el remained silent in thought, but even he appeared to be slightly saddened by the change. But the two of them nodded in agreement, respecting her choice. "Of course" Lottie said. Tsuna then described her adventure to the In-Between, the realm of the Prince of Crows. Micha'el quickly understood that there was some strange anchoring between the Prince, and his mark on Tsuna. And with Tsuna no longer here he could no longer traverse this land outside of the Land of Crows. It sounded like a curse. He wondered what could have caused the Prince of Crows to become like this, or if he was ever even a person before, he could just be a being that always existed that way. His train of thought stopped when Tsuna admitted a disagreement with the Prince, explaining the bruised eye. His fists tightened. But Tsuna then described the blue eyes, and the person they revealed themselves to be. This man tried to reason with Tsuna, but luckily she saw through his illusion and he revealed himself. But when Tsuna seemingly went to say his name or describe him in further detail she choked on her own breath. Micha'el thought it odd, whilst Lottie tried to pass her a glass of water. The entire confrontation sounded terrifying. And the entire thing took places over days?! No wonder she was gone so long. When Tsuna revealed the bombshell about her mother Lottie dived in to hug her. Tsuna then revealed her guilt for ever wrapping them up in this. "No" Micha'el said, "we wouldn't. We would be worried about you - you idiot. We're happy to help you. Even if you are a pain in the arse. And you've done so well. Even though you've been gone for days, you've somehow managed to uncover the darkness that is threatening the world. We need to research this King... I don't really know of the Elven lineages. The only elves that have a King, I thought, were the Sun Elves?"
"I can't believe he tricked you like that. How are we supposed to research someone that won't let anyone describe him. You'll sound insane, everyone will turn against you." Suddenly Micha'el stared at Tsuna, "you know who that sounds like, right? Tall, blonde and magical fighting a war against an evil that apparently killed Lucas Purevelion but she won't tell anyone who it was?! Wait - No... we need to be careful. If we're wrong, or if she doesn't trust us anyone because of this... No. Tsuna... we can't scare Alexis. She's.... since you've been gone she has suggested i am the key to unlocking the power within the Starwell. Tomorrow I am going to to help her reach it."

Tsuna Miki

The offer of water, which Tsuna almost guzzled down, and the warm hug from Lottie was more than welcomed. After her explanation, Micha'el's words of friendship truly touched her despite his light insults. She smiled realizing how much she meant to them and they to her as she embraced Lottie tightly before letting her go. Micha'el was impressed she had managed to find the perpetrator and uncover the actions behind the spread of the Arcane. Although, the Elven lineages will be hard to unravel because the only knowledge known to them was the one king of the Sun Elves. Lottie was in shocked that she was tricked and wondered how she was supposed to explain herself without sounding insane. Instantly, Micha'el made the connection to Alexis and her rambling in the office which all correlated to this conversation. However, he advised that they should tread lightly around Alexis because they could accidently cause her to end up not trusting them. If she defects against them, against her, then Zylvanness could swoop in and claim her. Tsuna nodded in agreement as he further accounted that he'd help her search for the power with in since she discovered that he may be the key.

Tsuna was relieved how far they had come without her influence and nodded encouragingly. "I trust you Micha'el. You two are capable making your own decisions. Perhaps, while you're with her, Lottie and I can explore the library on this Elven King _" She tried to say his name again before becoming tight lipped and frustrated that she was cursed! Wait, only she was cursed. Zylvanness never said anything about Lottie or Micha'el! Suddenly she smirked cockily and turned to the two scooting closer to them. "I may not be leader anymore, but let me make a suggestion on our next move. Listen, I don't know all this king's abilities, he could be listening in as we speak, but I think I may have discovered one weakness of his. Well, more like a flaw...his piety. He believes everyone to be beneath him, he even dropped hints about a certain resting place for his mortal shell and a possible relic. It may be a hunch, but I don't think he's documented every part of our journey because he clearly doesn't care about the "Wild Card" he left out of the equation." She paused taking a breath as she felt fatigue starting to set in again. "This is a long shot, and I know its even dangerous to suggest, but after everything is clear here...let's look for Vendeth." She knows they were probably shocked to even hear that name out of her mouth and she calmed them by placing a weak, trembling hand on their shoulders. "If I sound insane, so be it. I know she's alive. She possesses the knowledge and details of the king we're up against. She looked Lottie square in the eyes and even glanced at Micha'el. "You said the name during our battle. If you two remember don't say it, but nod that you remember it." Once they gave a signal, Tsuna breathed out in relief looking exteremly exhausted. She assumed they were tired too, especially having to lie and cover up her absence for days.

"Sure" Micha'el said, nodding back to Tsuna, "the library is a good idea. Although you might have to do some deep diving - I'm pretty sure that Entei banned or destroyed a lot of elven books after the exodus of the star elves a few centuries ago... but that's not to say they didn't collect again afterwards!" The Star Elves were practically forced out of the city some time before the Jewel War when they grew an addiction to the Star Well. Star Elves was basically a nickname the locals gave them back in the day. Micha'el had read about it for his history studies at Hope, for an essay on racial separation.

Lottie scowled as Tsuna tried to say the king's name again, she didn't like how unnaturally her throat seemed to close up. Tsuna went on to explain her next plan that she hoped Micha'el and Lottie would agree on. "Right" agreed as Tsuna described the wild card. But Micha'el was quick to ask "but what if it's a trap?" However as he asked, Tsuna suggested they look for Vendeth. "What?" Lottie asked, suddenly sitting up straight. Micha'el seemed to jerk, "no... no, no." He waved his hands up in the air as Tsuna defended herself. "His name?" Lottie asked, still not very fond of the plan to find the serial killer hemomancer. The two thought back, wondering what name she could possibly be talking about. Then they made the realisation that Tsuna was targetting Vendeth for a reason - she shouted a name during the battle, they had even talked about it in passing after the battle too. They nodded. "I hate this idea" Micha'el said, rubbing his temples, "but it might be our only shot. I- I'll be stronger. We all will be. I'll make sure she doesn't lay a finger on either of you."
"Micha'el" Lottie looked at him, aching to comfort him. "We'll do this together, as a team. Tsuna and I will get information in the morning and you can meet with Alexis to... make your decision. If you manage to unlock the Star Well's full power then Alexis should be able to help us locate Vendeth right? She'll want to help - no, she'll be indebted to help after that. Tsuna, what was the ... resting place that you mentioned? And a relic? Do you have any more information?"

Tsuna Miki

Tsuna wasn't to thrilled to hear Micha'el recounting how Entei had banned and destroyed knowledge of the Star Elves centuries ago. Of course, he must have noticed her distain and tried to convinced that the Star Elves never gave up collecting after this exodus event. Hopefully, there was something of value left or else her and Lottie will be pointlessly digging through scraps. As for their discussion on Vendeth, the two ultimately agree despite them all knowing the possible dangers that could arise along the way. Micha'el promised to become stronger as Lottie concurred to his sentiment restating their plans for tomorrow. She also asked Tsuna to provide more information of the resting place and relic, but unfortunately she didn't have much to give. "At first, he tried to gain my trust by sending me on some quest for him. It turned out to be a lie, but through observation, I'm lead to believe that not everything he said was false. This relic, it contains his power that was presumably stolen, he said I would have to fight a necromancer by the name of Mor'Laz and take it from him to return it to the King's resting place. It was the way he expressed himself and lie or not his resting place seems of great importance to him. I don't know much beyond that though. Vendeth is the only one that would know something. I....empathize for her. She's the way she is because of him. He must have done something truly awful to her." Tsuna was the only one that experienced Vendeth's mental breakdown in the smoke realizing how badly she had been broken from her past. "Perhaps...we are not so different..." Tsuna whispered to herself before shaking her to dismiss herself.

"Sorry. I'm just tired." She smiled sluggishly before shyly looking to Lottie as her cheeks reddened. Tsuna had never been so vulnerable, but she was truly terrified that Zylvanness would show up in the middle of the night to get her. "Lottie...is it okay if I can sleep with you tonight? Just...for tonight...okay..." Lottie probably wouldn't reject since she liked to cuddle often. She felt like she sounded pathetic and was certain one of them would start laughing at her.

Lottie and Micha'el both stared at Tsuna - how could she compare herself to that monster? Vendeth, Micha'el thought, shaking his head subtly. But it was Lottie he looked at her friend with eyes that glistened as though her heart had broken. For a brief moment her heart felt like it might collapse into itself. To even think that Tsuna could really believe she had something in common with Vendeth. The moment was quick. Just as quickly as it started it was over and Lottie let out a silent sigh of relief. She nodded. Tsuna was right, she had to be too tired to think straight. When Tsuna requested Lottie remain with her for the night, she accepted without even thinking. "Of course" she took Tsuna's hand and squeezed.

She would keep her friends comfortable and happy - no matter what.

_________________________

Micha'el hovering in the corner of his childhood home's living room. He felt like a bug on the wall watching down as his mother exchanged pleasantries with someone across the room. Why am I here? Micha'el thought, his gaze switching to the point of view of a bug on the floor. Was he a bug? He looked down, expecting to find a set of 6 legs but instead found nothing, just a halo of light around him. Was he intangible? He could see his mother again. Across from her was someone familiar with dark hair. A shadow writhed from their chest. He felt a pang of dread within him - but then it settled and calmed. The darkness was just a mass of black hair - a girl that he knew. Malika Roze.

His mother was alone now. Preparing tea, as she always does, looking out the bay window at the grass outside. A knock sounded from the door. Malika, again, was greeted inside. Again? Micha'el watched her sit down, then he looked to the closed door. Again? Again? Why is she here again? He stared through the door, it faded away and in the distance the writhing shadow again. It smiled, vanishing from his view. Now he was behind his mother, watching Malika who smiled warmly as the two laughed, but his mother looked confused. Malika looked confused.

Malika was gone. Micha'el felt a rush of pain shoot through his ethereal form. He had legs now, legs with which he could run. He was running towards his home, a halo of white light shattering around it as he stepped into the doorway. Everything outside was now fiery red. Now he left his home, he spoke with Malika's voice, saying goodbye to his mother. He smiled, feeling his cheeks grin from ear to ear as he vanished in the distance.

Blinding light. An explosion. His mother's scream.

Micha'el shot up right in his bed, sweat dropping down his cheek. He clutched his chest, feeling the panic in his body. His shirt was soaked through, just as his hair was which was now sticking to the sides of his face. For a brief moment he forgot about the dream, but something whispered to him. Words? He wasn't sure, it was more of a feeling. He glanced at the girls, Tsuna and Lottie, who were still sleeping on the other side of the large room. He was thankful for the spacious accommodation and the alcoves in which the beds were sat - it meant he had not woken them. He suddenly remembered the sight of a halo shattering around his childhood home. The wards! he realised, searching deep within himself to feel something. He was searching for the reassuring thrum of energy that was the protective spell he placed around his home, around his mother. It was gone.

Micha'el fel his lungs empty, he clasped his hands over his mouth to keep himself quiet, then quickly grabbed his pillow to muffle his breathing. I must go, now! he thought, summoning up the Aria as quietly as possible to flip a page and cast the spell that would give him a one way ticket to the anchor spell he placed on his mother.

Nothing.

Cold consumed Micha'el's body. Everything around him suddenly became a blur as he began to witness the world through a glass window. As the panic took over he was suddenly aware of how trapped he was inside his own head. His limbs felt numb as he dropped the pillow and silently grimaced, leaning against the bed in front of him to keep himself up. He moved. First his feet, then his arms, he latched onto the wall quietly as he made his way to the doorway and went out into the corridor. Blinding blue mage light lit up the corridor in the dead of night like LEDs. It seemingly knocked him to his senses as his thoughts began to process. If the anchor spell did not respond - it means she is- his mother... is dead. What had happened? Why did the protective wards not wake him sooner? Why did it merely give him a shoddy, broken record of a dream?! How long ago did this happen? Why wasn't he there, why couldn't he save her, what did he do wrong, did the wards fail, who did this? It was obvious - the red glow of the sky - the writhing shadow. "Zoltan".

Micha'el wailed like a banshee. He cried out until his voice broke and his lungs gave out. He felt like his chest might collapse under the weight of his own emotions. Everything he worried about, everything he was fighting against, it all suddenly came true. White light gathered in his palms and quickly turned into cyan stardust. It consumed him entirely and swallowed him up - he vanished completely and with him so did his scream. The corridor fell deathly silent. All that was left was the Aria.

Micha'el fell against a wall littered with books and scrolls. He could see a blue glow around the corner, coming from the source of magic he coveted. He pulled himself up, like a husk, he willed his body to move like it was a corpse. He didn't care anymore. All inside was empty. There was a muffled sound of an alarm before he stepped around the corner to look upon the Starwell, surrounded by a dozen magi all caring for the enchantment above it in the dead of night. The entire spell had turned red and all the cloaked men and women turned to face him. He knew now, from what Alexis had told him, that the alarm would alert her personally. He also suspected that she would them summon Aoi's team to protect it, what with Adelia and her squadron perforing a special operation in Bloodholme. He would cut through all the defences before... well. Perhaps not before they would arrive, but he would win before they could stop him. He hoped he would be quick enough before Tsuna or Lottie could arrive... he knew they would join him... and he didn't want to risk them doing the wrong thing just for him. He didn't want them to see him like this, soaked through with sweat and tears, eyes devoid of feeling, body moving as though he barely had the energy to fight through the amassing dread within him. It all helped him clear the picture in his head. It made space for the determination to go through with his decision. The Magi were likely shouting at him now, asking how he got there, commanding he be locked up. But he didn't care. He would fight his way to the centre of the Starwell no matter what. What else did he have to lose now? He'll take the power for himself - he'll tear the star from the depths of the well and with it he will answer the call to destroy all demons - starting with the worst demon of them all.

Zoltan Maues.
