Arc Imishi

User Image

Arc's sharp withdrawl of the nodaichi would keep him out of the initial explosion, how the blade had failed to even cause a slight dent in the shield was sort of surprising especially given that its owner had held it fast. The energy was penetrating in nature and while it might have struck another energy source it did so at far to fine a point to be countered with an evenly distributed offensive strike. Arc had to assume that his opponent had some how predicted the exact point of impact, and the amount of force involved, and met it with identical force.

It wouldnt matter how it was done, the explosion would rip outward in each direction equally, applying just as much push to each individual more if anything to the Shieldsman because he provided a resistant force. Where as Arc let himself be picked up and blown like a piece of paper in a wind storm. If his opponent with no solid footing thanks to the nature of the asphalt was not moved an inch then surely there was something else going on. Arc was thrown with more than enough force to send him sprawling and rolling across the pavement. Scraped and yet more bloody from an attack which should have punched through about a foot of solid steel reflecting off of thin air.

Still Arc was trained in this type of thing, and his tumble would end awkwardly ended by the three hanging sheathes. The result would be him coming to a stop on his left knee his right extended behind him bent to the ground. During his tumbling flight he had lost his hold on the nodaichi, and was forced to watch it skitter back under the dumpster behind him. A growl would be clear on the swordsman's face as the shields-man peeked across the shield. With deft hands he removed, the sheathe of the nodaichi and slid it out of the way.

Calm radiated from the angel as yet another attack left his opponent untouched. It was long past time the man took even a scratch of damage, very few people could tank all the damage from the attack he had just used directly without getting out of the way. The attack was specifically designed to pierce defenses. It was a curious thing striking the exact center of the shield with a devastating piercing strike and watching it rebound a near impossibility. In truth had the attack struck the shield even reinforced it would not have bounced as it did. It should have acted as a pushing force if it could not penetrate.

Breathing hard he gathered himself to his feet with basically the whole forty feet between himself and his opponent. Slowly he would steady his breathing, even if his opponent advanced, anything short of a bull rush would give him plenty of time to react. One of the things he would do with that time, would be to move the wakizashi from his left hip, to his right hip.

₪₪Glittering Edge₪₪ Attached to the intonation: kagayaku ejji, This technique uses Shiroi Karasu to project light as a combination and advanced form of sanctified strike. While the attack generates light it is not crafted of light rather instead it is crafted of an angels heavenly energy. This strike projects a single incredibly powerful wave of heavenly energy from the edge of the white raven nodachi which is itself fittingly appropriate. The attack is easy to read if the blade is already drawn but is a shifty strike if used as a draw spell. (Preparation two rounds.) (Cooldown five rounds.)

[ But I'm more then just a little curious how your going to go about making your amends....

...to the dead. ]

This is where the mental game would come into play, how long would it take Arc to start doubting himself? Christopher had spent Eons perfecting his defensive style, he knew every in and out of his strengths and the weakness that followed. His shield was beyond normal, his body, his style. All of it was meant to take a man like Arc, who trained and focused on pin point precision, and destroy his faith in that style.

But how was Chris really doing? The perception of Arc would make it seem that the man was unscathed. The shield hid the heavy rise and fall of his chest, it clouded the sore and tired body that had exerted all its strength to simply hold in place. He was not gassed out but he was not immediately ready to assault, let alone run half way across the damn street to get to the man.

His mind now pounded with a resounding head ache, he was simply spent as far as Psionic skills went. He had roughly enough points to use his Astral Blade, but the Concussion could not be repeated nor could he summon the wall. He was down to shield and sword which so far had done him well.

Christopher gave a gentle shrug, a slight I told you so, before beginning to move. His feet gently carried him into a slight jog as he aimed to close the distance with out over exerting his body. The shield felt hot against his forearm, the radiating energies it emitted was the fall out of such a concentrated psionic expulsion. What was it they said, don't put all your eggs in one basket? Well he just had and now he would need to work with it.

And he was doing good so far. The jog across the distance allowed his heart to steady and get back in step. However once he was about ten feet away the shield came forward and he re-took his stance. Solid and clean as if nothing had occurred, except a slight change. He was not as hunkered down as before, because now he did not have a great sword of Japanese style to contend with. Arc only had lighter weapons on his person, meaning a more fluid and relaxed form was needed, rigid defense would not work here. However he simply looked un-phased by the series of events and could only sigh at the progression of this round.

He was going to win, it was as simple as that. If Arc did not change something, which so far he had not, he was going to lose be it recognizing his errors and submitting.....or by the edge of a Hopolite sword.
"One last chance.." The words gently drifted out from behind the shield to the Angel boy, a final offer so to speak. Arc could build his pride up and speak back, but where would it get him. Everything he had done had ended with him in a retreat, but credit had to be given to persistence.

Arc rose into a step forward as his opponent raised his shield and broke into a comfortable jog. The step led to a draw from his left hip with his truly dominant right hand. The Katana, but once again the draw was no simple act, it would come again accompanied by an intonation of power. This intonation needed zero preparation and very little of his own magical energy to pull off and was ideal for what he wanted to accomplish.

”Reiki.”

The word passed from his lips as a whisper and the power it called would leave the blade in much the same way. The draw would reveal a distortion wrapping around the blade it would leave the blade like a gentle breeze carrying with it a quick slash of auric energy. The energy was visible if one was paying attention, and not if one was not. The slash was horizontal and tilted forward on a slight diagonal. The strike if his opponent saw it coming or not would meet him at the shins.

Arc would already be formulating a follow up, should his opponent slither out of the Auric strike. There were more than a few tricks left available to Arc. More than a few of those involved strategy and fluid technique to save the day. Arc had more than a little magic left to his name as the game went on.

₪₪Aura Strike₪₪ attached to the intonation Reiki, this is an offensive technique which can be both ranged and personal. If used in the drawing phase of a strike the katana, tachi, nodachi, or wakizashi projects an almost invisible sharpened wave of energy. This strike can reach out and cut you from up to fifteen feet away so long as no physical objects intercede in the attack. This attack can also be used to cut through many elemental strikes using either projected energy or an aura wrapped around the blade. (Cooldown 1 post: Does light damage mostly meant to increase range or combat energy attacks)

Christopher would barely miss a step as he moved to his left. Dodging the incoming wave with little effort, a single push off his right leg mid jog put him to the side of it. The wave of energy hit pavement and steamed as rained poured down from the heavens above.

His eyes shined with a dull gray hue as he slipped forward. His stance now was much more relaxed and free to move then before. Against a Nodachi rigid form was good for defense, against a Katana, it was best to be mobile. The katana could be wielded with one hand and it was still longer in reach then his Hopolite but was also most effective with two hands.

Christopher approached the swordsmen.....

His shield was up in front of him and slightly left, his right leg angled back and sword at the ready by his right hip. His face was overcome with that calm neutral expression, as if he was not even in a fight for his life. No emotion, no panic, not even a concerned stare. Not even hate, it was as if he was just calmly going through the motions and this cold calculated demeanor would be Arcs downfall.
