He watched and listened to the other demon speak, the shadows that had been covering his body receding into his chest like before. Once again, his scars could be seen all over. As the younger demon swam closer and paused in front of him, his golden eyes looking up at him expectantly as he spoke. Light and warmth? Caesar had no idea what that felt like, for he was doomed to always walk among the darkness and bare the cold. Shadow demons cannot ever stand under the sun without receiving extreme damage to themselves, so he does not know what the warmth of the sun feels. Nor has the light ever been kind to him. Light was what made him stay trapped in that godforsaken room the man kept him in."I suppose that since you weren't created as you are, you have reason to fear us. Some demons are not so very kind and dislike those of mixed blood the most."Caesar runs a hand through his black hair, his violet eyes still glowing brightly."And the only demon in the shadows you must fear the most is the one that controls it. I am the most dangerous when within the darkness because I am the one to harness it the best."
He had once hated the darkness himself, blamed it for all of his suffering, but that was so long ago. Now, he could only find solace in it. Now it seemed the darkness around him was his only true friend in the end. Turning his attention back to the half-breed, he sighed."I have many names, but the one I chose myself is Caesar. You may call me this, but what shall I call you child?"
Before the other could answer, Caesar heard the other approach, his old eyes turning to him as he frowned. He didn't particularly dislike elves, but he didn't exactly get along with them either. They had a tendency to think they were often better than others. Sighing yet again, he turned towards the other demon."Alas, the other child is correct. It is unwise to share such information, even with another demon. I have no interest in using any of it, but there are others who would."Caesar gave the younger demon a small and brief smile as he pat his head gently before he pulled his hand away and his usual tired expression returned."Tread lightly from now on young one."

"I forget the last time I felt brave. I just recall insecurities. Cause it came down like a tidal wave, and sorrow swept over me..."
As he waited for the man’s name that was in front of him, he listened to him intently. The demon seemed so tired, worn down by time itself that Haros frowned in concern. He seemed stable and sturdy enough, but if the man fell over from exhaustion he would not be the least bit surprised. The violet eyed male admitted that he was not surprised if Haros would be afraid of the other demons. He also continued to inform him that some demons were not very keen on half-breeds. This thought made Haros swallow thickly and slowly sink further into the water. A half-breed he may be, but the boy was not one to ignore the feelings and thoughts of others that were around him. If someone disliked him on principle he became very upset and would often try and seek out the person to correct whatever wrongs he may have committed without his knowledge to upset the person. He was such a silly little thing.
The man before him continued, running his fingers through his raven hair. Haros’ eyes followed those fingers, briefly wondering if the hair was as soft as it looked. The man let Haros know that the only demons of shadows he should fear is the one who controls them; in this case that would be the man speaking to him. This idea was made perfectly clear by the display of anger that the man showed earlier where the shadows were reacting to his emotions. Haros could not manipulate water through his emotions mindlessly; he would have to willingly make it rain rather than it just happening because he was crying or sad. After listening to his advice, Haros was finally given a name to put to the face; Caesar.
Haros’ eyes lit up when Caesar told him his name. He was happy that the man trusted him enough to give him this information. He had parted his own lips to tell Caesar his name when a voice from behind stopped him. Haros slowly turned his head to see the elf in full view, and even he had to admit that the elf was intimidating despite his heedful words. Poor Haros only stood at five foot nine and seeing the tall elf already standing above him at the end of the pool made him feel like a dwarf! The elf had advised him against giving out too much personal information. Haros bit his bottom lip as he looked between the elf and Caesar as Caesar agreed with him. Had he really given out too much information that a demon could use against him? The white haired demon whimpered and sunk into the water, letting it rest above his pouting lip. What was he allowed to say without someone trying to use him? Was telling them his name going to be too much information? But he already gave them too much information already? Augh, he had no idea what to think!
The half-breed felt a little better when Caesar said he would not use any of Haros’ information because he had no use for it. He smiled and blushed when he felt Caesar’s hand patting his head. A shy expression washed over his face as he looked back up to Caesar and then over to the elf. ”Thank you, both of you… I’m grateful for your advice.”He pulled himself back up to prop himself up on the edge of the pool by his arms as he looked up at Caesar.”You may call me Haros.”

Abel Controller of true hunger
Abel looked at the little demon as he said his name, his expression changed a little, more soft. my name is Abel... he said quietly, he didn't want to seem to intimidating, and he didn't mind giving his name out, after all, he probably would never see these two again. He notice the other demon, he was definetly older than he appeared, his eyes gave it away. His body was covered with scars, and that was when he notice he wasn't wearing much... His flesh was pale, and for a moment, it felt like his cigarette had no effect on what it was ment for. He glared, not really at anyone, if he where to glare at anyone, it be himself. He then turned away and began to walk where he came in. Excuse me, this place is crowded, and I'm starving. he walked away in a slow manor, his hands in his pockets. It seemed rude, even though it was nothing personal, he just didn't feel like fighting the erge, it was annoying to him. He walked into the darkness and vanished, a couple of seconds later, a door shutting echoed through the pool room.

Caesar [Devourer of Hearts]
Caesar sat quietly still as the two gave their names, his eyes briefly glancing at the silent male clad in white before he glanced back down at the half-breed. It wasn't until he felt eyes on him that he frown and looked over at the elf. He was looking at him quietly as if thinking before he suddenly stared glaring, making the demon frown in turn. Now what had he done to deserve such a look? He barely said anything more to the other.
But, before he could ask him what his problem was, Abel looked away and excused himself from the room. The demon only made a sound of disapproval before returning his gaze to the demon in the pool."As much as I dislike to say it, because you are a half-breed, our kind are the ones you might want to trust less than others. Especially those that are old like me. I myself, have no interest in betraying my own kind and only have a distaste in humans, but I cannot say the same for others. Some do not care what race you are and will treat everyone as a target, pawn, or a meal."

"I forget the last time I felt brave. I just recall insecurities. Cause it came down like a tidal wave, and sorrow swept over me..."
The elf had said his name aloud and Haros turned back around to look at him with a smile. Although the man had told him not to give out personal information this elf had trusted him enough to give him his name; Abel. It was a lovely name and Haros quite admired the elf's red hair. The elf then looked away from him and back up at Caesar. Haros tilted his head as he looked between the two of them and noticed the glare pass from Abel toward Caesar. Did the two of them have some past? Or perhaps their species did not care for the other? Haros did not know of a species he disliked. He never had a need to interact with other demons until recently, so he was fairly open minded. However, Caesar and Abel's words of wisdom made him a bit leery to meet new demons…
Abel excused himself to go eat and Caesar continued their conversation. Haros looked back up at him to listen properly. The idea of a demon seeing him as a target, pawn, or even a meal made him shiver. Why would anyone want to eat him? He was not a fish! The dreams of being a merman had crossed his mind several times while swimming in the oceans, but he still was not a fish. Nor was he edible in any fashion. Haros groaned softly as he ran his fingers through his wet hair, taking care to go between his horns, to slick it back out of his eyes. "Caesar, what should I do? I don't know who to trust or how to sense that kind of danger… I don't even know if I should fully trust you since you two have both told me to watch out.."Haros pushed off the wall a bit to go underwater for a minute before resurfacing. "I mean.. do you ever get lonely? Or have you always been alone that it's second nature?"Haros returned to perching himself on the edge of the pool by his arms while looking up at Caesar.

Caesar [Devourer of Hearts]
Caesar simply watched Haros as he turned his gaze to the elf as he walked away, before the demon returned his gaze to Caesar. Yet again, he had expectant eyes that held a curiosity yet fear of what he was learning. He then ran his hands through his silver hair, minding his horns as he did so. The feature was a little odd to Caesar who showed no signs of being a demon other than his eyes. He had always wondered why most of the other demons with the more common elements often had some kind of trait which made them obvious to their breed.
Rubbing his forehead, the demon wondered if he would look so strange with horns. Dropping his arms, he listened to the other's questioning plea and his slight caution of him. At the mention of the word lonely, Caesar looked away."When you have been betrayed as I have, you quickly learn that being lonely means being safe."
Golden irises dilated in the dim lighting, shifting from one person to another- not entirely sure if he was comfortable being surrounded by so many. The compliment from the demon at his side threw him off guard a bit an a slightly puzzled expression appeared on his features, melting into something like a small slightly embarrassed smile "Thank you." He replied evenly, sincerity clear in his voice. It wasn't often he received a compliment from another being....actually it was a very rare occasion. And for someone to actually enjoy his presence was another thing he wasn't all that used to.
As names were tossed about into the air he found himself pondering whether or not to say his own, but decided against it unless asked. He was used to people never asking for his name because they simply did not care to know it, nor to really meet with him again. 'lonely means being safe...' those words simply seemed sad to him. In a sense he understood it but there was also something about loneliness that set people out of balance with themselves. Loneliness was a silent killer- so he didn't quite understand the safety aspect as a whole.
"I do....not know what you've lived through. But I, personally, do not believe that safe is the word to describe loneliness... perhaps peaceful at times, but it lets one dwell on too many things for it to be safe... " he murmured, voicing his thoughts out loud with careful consideration of his wording "That's not to say I don't believe you are wrong. To each there own..." He continued, still standing at the waters edge rather than sitting- so he simply took his time to sit with a graceful and practiced ease once more. He felt more sound of mind at times like these- in company that didn't fear him, for they didn't know of him- or what he was. .

Caesar [Devourer of Hearts]
Caesar's eyes turn back to the other, a smile gracing his features as he leaned back on his palms and he kept his gaze on the other aged creature."And he speaks yet again."He recalled what he said and looked down with a small sigh."Perhaps you may be right about that. But whenever I felt lonely, I remembered what it cost me to keep the company of another and quickly remember that it is better for me to be lonely, than to suffer the same fate I had before. I have had many centuries to make mistakes and I always find that the one I remember the most, is putting my faith in someone that could not be trusted. My anger, hatred and my scars are my reminders of the innocence that was taken from me, and it only fills me with more darkness."
For a moment, his eyes held pain and anger, before it quickly subsided and he gave the nameless man another small smile."But never mind that, you still have yet to share your name."
The blonde found himself meeting those eyes that were filled with anger and sorrow- and he was sure a mixture of many other emotions that contributed to the mans loneliness. "Perhaps it's presumptuous of me to say this, but...as one who has not had the chance to experience to keep the company of anyone for a long period of time, or in an affectionate manner... I would say I'd prefer to feel the pain then to never know it." He stated as he pulled his golden orbs away- his thick lashes casting a shadow of his bright eyes. Innocence....he was sure that this was something that had been ripped from him the very day he was born and detested by his own family for being such a filthy creature in such a pure bloodline.
He'd never had the chance to be a child because he had to grow up and take care of himself, and fending for yourself as a creature that lived off of dreams in a world that was so closed off and cold was difficult... very difficult. He pondered that a moment longer, before his mind fell to the fact that Ceasar had asked for his name... which made the blonde shift slightly- a slight anxiety fluttering up into his chest, though he let it out on a soft shaky exhale.
"Novarus, or Nova for short- which ever you fancy" he stated, leaving it up to the male as to what he wanted to address him as. "And I apologize if it was out of line for me to say those things" He added gently, still not looking to the man at his side- rather straight ahead at the shadows on the edge of the other side of the pool. .

Caesar [Devourer of Hearts]
Caesar looked away as he processed the new information given to him. It was certainly a unique name and cutting it short didn't seem to do it justice. Turning his eyes to the man yet again, he gave a look that only further showed how old he felt."Well, Novarus, take it from one who knows what the pain feels like in full...it is best to live without it. If you happen to come upon it, it may only do to you what it did to me. It will warp your very way of thinking and shield your heart from everyone. The only thing that you will ever feel in the pit of your stomach is your anger and pain rising up until it fogs your mind and makes you do horrendous things."He never had to chance to describe it to someone before, so he felt as though he was rambling, but merely dismissed it as he slowly rest his body against the cold floor."If I could erase what had happened, I would. But even in my old age, I can still remember it all so clearly. We all have some part in our past that traumatizes us. For some, it makes them stronger and gives them hope, for others, it weakens them until they wither away, and then there are those that are like me. It wipes out whatever kindness or compassion that was there, leaving nothing but darkness and a hole within your heart."
The demon closes his eyes as he sighed softly, the shadows of the room cooing as some surrounded him."But again, never mind my dark speakings. Perhaps there is something less melancholic to bring to this delightful conversation?"
Nova pulled his gaze away from the far side of the pool to look at the male as he shifted to lay down on the cool floor. He was pretty sure that his own loneliness was more agonizing...but perhaps because he hadn't experienced the same kind of pain he couldn't relate. His pain was his own, as was Caesars was his.
"indeed we do, and it does, I may not have experienced the same things in my lifetime- but I have a feeling tat the outcome of the things in my life are somewhat...similar in nature." He agreed solemnly, his gaze softening slightly as he spoke of changing the topic... it did seem like a good idea, but Novarus did not really know what to speak of- most of his life was filled with nightmares and hunger- he was almost always hungry... not that he let on that he was- he was used to the pain associated with that. "I'm afraid that I'm not particularly good at light conversation" He admitted- a self deprivation smile placing itself on his lips as he turned his gaze away once again. His mind turned to the thought of the males suffering and he couldn't help but shiver at the thought of the nightmares this male could have... If he really was so tormented... his nightmares had to be potent.

Caesar [Devourer of Hearts]
Caesar sits up again with a groan before his eyes turn to the other demon, a look of pleas somewhat on your face."And what of you child? We are both no good with light topics, perhaps you could share some of your "warmth" that you spoke of before with us?"It had been so long since he had interacted calmly with others, that he thought that it may have felt a little...nice for a change. For once he wasn't surrounded by humans and instead other creatures that may have suffered similar pain. He wasn't entirely ready for the two to part quite yet."Anything you can think of really would be fine I am sure."
His eyes turn to Nova yet again as he prepared to speak."Are you in agreement Novarus?"

"I forget the last time I felt brave. I just recall insecurities. Cause it came down like a tidal wave, and sorrow swept over me..."
Haros tilted his head as Caesar rubbed his forehead. Did the man have a headache, maybe? Was the attention too much for him? He could not have possibly known that Caesar was wondering how he would look with his own set of horns. If he had, Haros would have definitely laughed. Caesar was such a serious demon that something so innocent would be endearing. Something innocent in relation to the older demon would have been quite a feat to behold considering his response to Haros' question was filled with such sorrow. 'When you have been betrayed as I have, you quickly learn that being lonely means being safe…'
Those words rang in Haros' ears. They burned him from the inside out. The mere thought that loneliness meant being safe was enough to suck the air straight from Haros' lungs. He stared, wide-eyed, and taken aback by Caesar; he was left speechless. Thankfully, the other man that was with them spoke to break the silence and gave his opinion on the ominous statement. The man in white said that loneliness was not safe, but it could be peaceful. Haros exhaled finally, as if the man's optimism caused him to remember how to breathe. Haros quietly slid off the ledge as he listened to the two converse and he stared at the wall in front of him as tears burned his eyes.
Caesar continued to reveal more about his past and why loneliness meant safety to him. The aged demon opened the doors to let Haros and the man in white see more darkness, sadness, heart-wrenching pain and in reality Caesar revealed very little about the memory at hand. Was it a lover that betrayed him? A friend? Haros could not be sure, but whomever it was left Caesar very broken. Make no doubt about the fact that Caesar had managed to put himself together. But even though the darkness could hide him from the sight of others, it could never keep the man's pain shrouded. As Haros tried his best to keep himself together, the other man introduced himself to be Novarus, or Nova.
Nova responded to Caesar's explanation and sympathized to a point and stated that he would have rather felt pain then to have never known it. Why? Why did both men have to have their own share of pain? Could happiness not find them even in the depths of darkness? Haros could not hold back the tears any longer when Caesar said that pain shielded your heart from those around you. His shoulders rose and fell as his tears streamed down his face into the water. Haros rested his forehead against the wall of the pool to hide this from the other two. How could he possible have the nerve to cry when he never was the one who experienced whatever it was that Caesar and Nova did? His problems and woes were nothing in comparison. He was such a selfish child to have been living his days in complete ignorant bliss of the pain and suffering that other demons in the world felt. Although, he could not have known every single demon to know their pain, but he felt horrible regardless.
Just when Haros wanted to curl up into a ball and cry his heart out for Nova and Caesar, the shadow demon was asking him to share stories of his lighter nature. Haros quickly splashed his face with the water and cleared his throat as he pulled himself out of the water to sit on the edge of the pool between them. His cloak was soaked as it clung to his body while he stared at the water. Haros took a minute to calm himself down before trying to speak. He cleared his throat and looked between the two, "Forgive me, Caesar and Nova, I was oblivious to the pain both of you have experienced.."His golden hues slowly found Caesar. "To answer your question about my warmth.. I'm not sure how to describe it. Have you ever fallen asleep by a fireplace and let the crackle lull you to sleep? When I would be on the beach with my mother, I used to lay in the sand.. the warm, soft sand against my back and an umbrella would shade me from rays of the sun. I could close my eyes and hear the waves crashing on to the beach, the seagulls calling out to one another, and the smell of the beach…"Haros had closed his eyes to help him recall the memory. The small smile that had found its way to his lips as he spoke had vanished and he opened his eyes to look at the pool before continuing, "Well, I can describe it to you, but I'll probably start crying again like an idiot.."
"It hurts just to wake up, whenever you're wearing thin. Alone on the outside, so tired of looking in. The end is uncertain, and I've never been so afraid. But I don't need a telescope to see that there's hope and that makes me feel brave."

Novarus [Nova] Mellak
Golden irises shifted slowly to the figure in the water, taking note of the way that these tales affected the young half demon....he had a large amount of innocence about him- and it was comforting in a way- to see not everyone was corrupt these days. He listened to the boys words, his breath nearly hitching at the mention of the word 'mother', but he forced his breathing to remain even and steady- hiding any kind of discomfort he may have felt. "If it makes you uncomfortable to speak of it then you are not obligated to" Nova breathed, though honestly he wasn't sure he liked the topic either. Warmth was something he had always been deprived of- not even good dreams could actually provide warmth.
Sometimes he actually enjoyed nightmares- they could at least spark some kind of emotions- even if they were fear, at least he was accustomed to it. He didn't know what it felt like to really be happy or feel the warmth of another- to be loved or to love.... it was difficult to even imagine what that could be like. He was a creature that craved touch and was far too afraid of the effect it would have on him to even attempt to attain it.
He let his eyes drop to his lap, his thick lashes shadowing his bright irises from view. He didn't share his past- it wasn't something that had ever passed from his lips because he knew- simply knew that if he did his past would come back to torment him. If his 'family' learned that he spoke of them, they'd likely plot to get rid of him, or at least to make his life even worse. He was a stain on their pure reputation, no one knew about his ties to that family and it had to remain that way in order for his life to remain peaceful- painfully peaceful.
He felt his chest heave on a large sigh, that never made it past his lips as he did not intend to show his woes and simply lifted his gaze- his expression remaining rather neutral. He still held his book carefully in his hand- shifting it to his lap to avoid getting any water on it. Antony and Cleopatra... one of his favorite stories he'd ever read even though he couldn't quite understand everything- the love between Antony and Cleopatra.
He remained silent as he waited for the conversation to continue, because he really had nothing left to contribute to it. He didn't know if he wished to stick around for a conversation about warmth- because in a sense if brought a flare of jealousy to his gut- an ugly emotion he did not like one bit. Of course he didn't let these ugly emotions show- it wasn't like him to become emotional over the little things. Perhaps this was why he avoided the company of others and this little meeting was a refresher.
Caesar listened in silence, a frown unwillingly forming upon his face. Family. That was a word that the demon could never understand. Being created meant that you had no family, you had no one to call a mother or a father, only a creator that didn't truly want you. He disliked that word that was supposed to mean something good to others but could only remind him of what he never had."Family...what of that? What is it that makes have one so important? "If he had been born...woud he have been happier? Could he have avoided the mistake he had made and kept all that was once him? Instead of feeding on the hearts of humans and living alone in the darkness where most feared him...would he have been able to enjoy the light? Would he have arms there to keep him warm and tell him it was going to be okay? Closing his eyes, the demon imagined it, a family of his own surrounding him with him smiling in the center. But it wasn't long before the image darkened and he only saw flashes of that room and his tormentor, his eyes quickly opening and becoming slits of pain as he growled. It wasn't possible for him. He would never know what it is like, and that was the cold truth of it."I must say that at times I envy those that were born, but I can never truly see myself as one being in a family anyhow. I do better off alone."
