Meepfur Hmm. I know we can't kill someone else's character, for obvious reasons, but ICly speaking, wouldn't threat of death to an unconscious rider become an issue? It can be assumed for these RP's that an unconscious person is left and thought dead OR that the attacker decided to move on to a more pertinent threat since an unconscious person can't do anything/ for benevolent reasons (they want to win but not kill) OR that NPC's rushed in to save them at the last minute Or any other reason that you can think up really =-)

Related to my previous question, I know dragons can't attack/hurt humans, but can they pick them up and hold them/move them out of the way? XD Or do the dice rolls not really allow for that? (The damage aspect of 'attack' could maybe be replaced with simply being a successful or unsuccessful capture...?)

Also, about items, I noticed that 'knife' was an option on the list. Don't riders (and presumably wherhandlers) usually carry their own knife on them at all times? =o

About flits and their Distract ability: the chart says it causes a target to focus their attack on the flit for 2 turns. Can a flit use that more than once in a battle, assuming it survives the first attacks? If it can use it more than once, can it use Distract on one target on one turn, then (if it's particularly suicidal) use it on a second target the next turn, making two targets attack it for that turn? Or alternately, can it use the Distract ability one one target on the first turn, then on the second turn Distract a new target instead, leaving the first target to attack normally? Can a flit use Distract, get attacked once, then flee before the second attack (fly away, go between to a safe location, etc.), or must it stay there until both turns are up?

Dizzy_Kat Do the hatchling whers take the -2 to their rolls as well? Aye. If you're young, you don't have as much clout as the adults.

elfgurl1234 SkieBorne mewrose I expect dragons can't attack humans, since they're hardwired not to hurt them. So can they only attack whers and other dragons? This is correct. Dragons can only attack whers and other dragons I'm slightly confused on this. I realize they can't attack humans in these battles, but ICly speaking is there no point in which a dragon can actually attack a human when their rider's life is threatened? How does that work exactly when Brakiath struck (and inadvertently killed) the assassin who was after Abigail? What is the threshold, exactly, before a dragon can overcome its internal genetic programming in defense of Theirs? (Seemingly through more than painful torture I would guess by the nature of the blue dragon and the HAD woman contest...) The only threshold is if their Rider is about to die, and that's assuming the dragon can get to the rider. This is a case-by-case basis. And Brakiath didn't want Flynn to die so much as get out of the way - she back handed him to move him but said backhand's kinda strong and he died from the injuries of impact/landing rather then directly from her smacking him. The Blue couldn't reach the Rider - they've been kept separate. Again, if you want to play with this aspect, it is a case-by-case basis that needs to be discussed with Staff.

If the intent/purpose is non-lethal then the dragon/wher can certainly move/hold/restrain etc someone. The dice rolls have deliberately been kept simple - I'm not writing a DnD handbook for this event - so if you want to make a grab at someone, simply roll your attack but forgo the damage. If your attack succeeds, you grapple the target.

You are, however, technically correct that wherhandlers and riders do carry knives. For the sake of this event, however, it's not in the assumptions.

You cannot chain stuns (re-apply or re-target), the firelizard stays for the duration of the Distract, and Distract can only be used once per battle per flit. So if a character has 3 flits, that's 3 Distracts but if 1 dies during the battle, then the character only has 2 flits.

Do knives and other weapons count as an Item use and therefore cannot be used once they've been used twice during an encounter. Also after you use a weapon twice does it go away like if you used a bandage once? Or do you keep it, but have to wait till next encounter to use it?

You can only carry 1 weapon at a time - you drop what you don't want. Using a weapon essentially 'equips' it and it damage is in addition to the regular attack roll. You use the weapon throughout a fight and keep it afterward. Only Brawl Weapons, which are improvised weapons like teapots, broken planks, chairs, etc break after 2 attacks. Healing items are 1 use only.

Would it be okay to make an invented character, but specify that you don't want them considered for becoming 'real' at the end of the event? Just to have extra characters to toss into fights, but that you aren't necessarily attached to.

I know that Gold Dragons and Whers can use their ability once per fight.... but in using that ability ... do i forgo the attack/accuracy roll... since it's a Mental thing... a Gold wouldn't exactly be able to miss with that.
OR... would i use the ability and then use my attack/accuracy roll as a follow up attack after using the ability?
