The air was refreshing on his face, all the same he gave a confused look to Mai and proceeded forward. The next city was a two day walk and Rokai was simply deep in thought, moved by the sound of the sand. Another sound filled the air though only it was the sound of hell scorpions approaching fast. These were vicious little creatures with the intelligence of a jellyfish. Four of them were approaching looking for their meal however, Rokai was even more hungry and the taste of scorpion sounded good. "Hungry Mai?" Rokai said as he pulled out a simple throwing dagger. The first scorpion pulled ahead of the pack and was racing towards Rokai. In one bound the scorpion was up in the air, his fiery tail ready to strike the cloaked Hybrid. Rokai quickly turned and with a flick of his wrist sent the dagger flying only the dagger had been engulfed in the small shadow flame making an easy two for one deal. Kill the beast and cook the dinner, that was the only thing running through Rokai's head. In an instant all you could here was the loud crack from the armored scorpion hitting the ground, Rokai's eyes sparkled at the feast he would have. "Handle the other three if you would be so kind, I need to check to see if I cooked the beast right." Rokai shuffled over to the dead scorpion and pulled the burned dagger from the mandible of the beast. The body was charred, to charred to even call it edible. Rokai's cheeks puffed out of frustration. "That was the smallest flame I could make, what the heck!" Rokai thought, as he scowled at the charred body that lay before him. "Son of a *****!" Rokai yelled as he turned his attention towards his companion. "Hey keep one of them alive, I need to fillet it." He said as his he placed his hands to his waist, shaking his head in disappointment.

twisting her wrist, the other scorpions floated in air. She sucked the air out of their lungs, but returned it to one when Rokai said to leave one of them alive. "If you want it alive, than just grab it. He wont be able to hurt you like this," she shifted one closer to him. She looked at the charred body of the one he tried to cook. I could draw some of the oxygen away from the flame to make it smaller if you'd like," she offered, not wanting him to ruin another one.
Mai let the dead ones drop to the ground. She picked them up and just bit into one. The poison wasn't going to affect her like it would a human, and she didn't mind the taste. "You should also watch the language, the is a lady present," she joked, taking another bite out of the scorpion. "Tastes like chicken...." she mumbled. "You know," she spoke through a full mouth, "These don't taste as bad raw as I thought they would."

Nero woke up to two unfamiliar scents. He looked around, and saw only the remains of the fire he had made the evening before. Still, he knew someone was around, just not in his line of sight, and he quickly got up, dusting the desert sand off of himself. Dead hell scorpions and other nasty creatures were littered around him, having fallen prey to the protections he had set up before going to sleep. He released his wings, and took to the air, following the scents.

"I am starving Mai, hurry and finish them so I can eat." Rokai's stomach started to growl something fierce and his mouth started to slightly drool with anticipation of the feast. He sat and began to lay on one side, holding his head up with his arm. He rubbed his tummy as a human would rub a Buddha statue, his bottom lip pouting from hunger. "Dang these weak things, why couldn't it have been a bohemoth or or a Golem? Yeah that's it a Golem; stone on the outside, fresh incubated meat within. Ah man now I can't stop thinking about food." Rokai whined as he lay there oblivious to their situation.

Nero enjoyed the cool morning air as he flew through the sky. He wasn't even sure why he was out here in the desert; he knew it was extremely dangerous, and it really had little to offer in his journey to find solace. He was determined not to return home until he figured something out, until then, it was just too painful. It had been barely a week since his brother had murdered his beloved; even worse, he had killed his own brother in retaliation. The pain of it all had been too much to bear, and it still was intense. At times, he felt like giving in, but he knew that he had to go on, for the sake of his beloved as well as his own. Nero spotted two specs in the distance, and immediately knew they were the source of the scents. He dipped in altitude, heading for the two.

He looked as she feasted and he gathered a piece for himself, the toxic blood dripping down his face as he ripped through the meat. He swallowed the piece and then spoke "You know your right, they do taste better raw, maybe I should remember that for the next time. Hey by the way I thought I had brimstone salt in my pocket." He looked trying to grab at the small bottle he had lying his leggings.

Rokai looked up to see something flying towards him, Mai had passed out so Rokai snuck off to meet the sentient being. He met him halfway and began to grab tightly to his hilt. "State your business creature and make it fast, I don't like unwanted visitors poking around during my meal." Rokai looked at the man who seemed empty like him and the serious look turned to a grin. "Don't you just enjoy the feeling of misery, it plagues us all yet some of us can manage it more than others. Well if your gonna be miserable, you might as well be miserable with us...heheheh." Rokai's smile grew even wider, the only amusement he got was from others who suffered like he. His heart fluttered with overjoyment over the man's discontent.

Nero looked at the man incredulously, then frowned. "That's not funny, you're some kind of twisted." He glanced down toward the girl. "Your scents are carried on the air for miles, you should be careful in a place as dangerous as this. But hell, what do I know, I'm just a stranger looking for a bit of solace in a bad time." He landed, retracting his wings.

Mai could hear the voices of Nero and Rokai from a distance, she just had to excite the wind spirit a little. Nero looked like quite the dominating creature. Oops... I really am bad with hiding my scent, that was probably me more than it was him. She approached them both slowly, seeming more timid than she really was. "Rokai, is everything alright," she asked meekly, stopping a few feet behind him, "Does this man need anything?" Her eyes went right to Nero's wings now that she was closer. They were golden and very beautiful, and also gave off a strong energy that seemed somewhat familiar. She pondered for a moment then her eyes went wide. "You're emanating energy from a god!," she exclaimed, "I've felt similar to it before, while visiting a temple with Mica." She clapped a hand over her mouth, knowing she shouldn't have blurted something like that out.
"I'm sorry," Mai took a step back, looking slightly nervous, "I shouldn't have said anything about it. It's just that energy seems somewhat familiar.... Who are you?"

Rokai puffed his cheeks again, only this time the emotional response he got was comedic relief. He began to laugh; the man who never smiled brought to laughter, a laugh that bellowed more like a roar. It was so loud the sands shifted if not for a moment from the vibration's of the laughing Hybrid. "MWAHAHAHA! Careful, what nonsense, what rubbish, I come here often as a vacation spot furthermore, one of my many homes. This desert happens to have the best food. Granted you can die of thirst if you are not of a certain species but good god man, careful is the last thing on my mind." The grin Rokai had grew even wider still his hands now on his stomach from the unexpected outburst of joy. "You have got to be the funniest man alive, has anyone told you that? You are the first creature in eons to make me notice something how wonderful indeed." Rokai jumped and plopped himself down in the Indian-style position now averting his attention to the sands. He started to scratch his head out of confusion. "Now where did the rest of the meat go, I wanted to try my brimstone salt on it. By the way Mai, bravo on the idea of eating it raw, I may be a good hunter but a chef I am most certainly not." Rokai winced a smile and went back to searching for there kill. "You got a name stranger or should I call you the sentimental demon hmmm?"

"I can't believe it, you're actually laughing," Mai chuckled, noticing how painful and unnatural the smile looked on his face. She broke a scorpion in half that she was holding and handed it to him, "I thought for certain the sky would fall or something if that happened." Offering the other half to the stranger, she sat down next to Rokai. "There are a few more scorpions under the sand to your left if you're still hungry after that," Mai reached over him and pulled one out, "You almost sat on this one. He must have been sleeping."
Mai pulled the air out of the lungs of the new scorpion just as she did the others, then handed it to Rokai, "I wont be eating more of them, but just let me know if you want any more." She looked at her skin, noticing it was turning red. She also became aware of how warm the desert was. "I'm not creature for a place like this, that's for sure," she sighed, stirring up a breeze to help keep cool.

Rokai's eyes began to sparkle as he grabbed the meat handed to him "You know..." Rokai said as he stuffed his face, "I figure if we head in the same direction we have been going we should reach the next city within a day and a half." He turned his head for any site of Cerebus lurking; dog hounds from the depths of hell who despite their name, had a very timid demeanor. Unfortunately, they are well versed in taking scraps as well often turning into shades to get their next meal, despite having three heads. "Those dang strays better not come here, I have been to nice to them and now I have a group of them that keep following, no need to worry though, Cerebus hounds are meek and quite the cuddle bunnies. Just watch out for their slobber as it may burn a hole through your robes." sweatdrop

Rokai began to notice a change in the winds signifying the coming of a raging sandstorm. He knew it was miles away still but he wanted to get the group to safety lest there be problems with his crew later. "We should move to cover, for the time being, a storm is coming and I really don't feel like getting cotton mouth from desert sand, especially right after a meal. We should set up camp and get an idea of who each other is and where we are all going. In this way we can accommodate each others needs if even for a short while."

"Well, I'm no desert survivalist, so where do you suppose we take shelter?" Mai stood up, brushing the sand off of her butt, "I could created a shield for us for a short time, but if the storms lasts to long, we would have to wait the rest of it out. The desert sort of saps my strength, and I can't use my powers for very long." She offered her hand to help Rokai up, "Where to Rokai?"
