Human/Sylvari & Mesmer/Thief. Probably won't decide exactly what I'm playing till I get to customize my character. sweatdrop But I plan on roleplaying with my characters too, so that affects what I'll be playing. ♥
I'm also better at defensive/support roles versus offensive/inyourface ones. :s So I gotta pick sorta according to that. xD

I'm also a huge roleplayer. I already know I want to make a Human thief who lives in the slums. xD

Though there aren't any tanks or healers in the game, they said the Guardian and all magic wielding professions (mesmer/warlock/elementalist) will have some support methods, so you could try those. :3

Well even non magic professions can support in some way as well.

Yesssss, you've got a GW2 sub forum. heart

I'm going to play a Human male Necromancer.
Have played Guild Wars 2 for about 7 hours already *I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE NDA ANYMORE! gonk * and I'm sold.
I've got my own international EU guild and we're strong with about 19 members already raging from age 16 to 34 even. whee

I plan on leveling up with PvE content until I'm about Lvl 35+ and then I'm off to live in WvWvW/battlegrounds.
I'm a real PvP girl. :3
As my storyline I've chosen these: A Ghostly Wraith (white eyes wooo!), Charm, Nobility, Never Recovered My Sister's Body and Dwayna.

Quote:
A Necromancers closest companion is death.
In acknowledgement of this, I mark my face with the symbol of a ghostly wraith.
Trouble may follow, but I use my charm to overcome it.
I was raised among the nobility.
One of my biggest regrets is that I never recovered my sister's body.
Everyone said I was blessed by Dwayna when I was young.

I'm so jealous. *_* Necromancers unite! I'll also choose the wraith because it's sweet, but I'll be an Asura. xP

Ooh you've got your own EU guild? Sweet. I'm also in EU. *Euro fistbump*

I've seen the PVP videos - usually I'm not a PVP fan but the WvW thing looks really amazing.

I really can't stand those Asura. I swear. They're good in PvP cuz they're so small but that's about it.
I hate 'em! They're so ugly. D:
But to each his own of course, haha. sweatdrop I don't mean to offend you, oh, Asura Necromancer.

But eh, that's awesome, you're a fellow Necro! xD
Have you made your build already? (Weapon choices/ulitity skills/traits?)

xD No offense taken! I didn't expect everyone to like the Asura. They do have some creepy elements... But I guess that's why I like them. twisted

I haven't made my build yet. I have been watching loads of videos but I can't make up my mind. xp

hi there! i am going to play a female charr warrior to start. I like warrior classes. Probably because over the recent several years of playing a healing type on wow; i grew tired of the holy 3 combo that's part and partial to the whole mmo genre. I tried tanking for a while and found that while i liked it better than healing; i still found it immensely irritating. i just wanna have a lot of raw strength/ability to do as much as i can without needing help unless i actually want to play with others. not that i don't intend to play with anyone else.. just sayin...

i am also interested in a ranger type character, but once i'm in the game and have time to familiarize myself with them.. i'll probably decide which race i wanna use for that. I might try to go with something distinctly not human.

In both wow and LOTRO, i had human type characters.

If you want to go with something far from Human, you have a choice between the Charr and the Asura. They look pretty 'alien'.

A charr warrior sounds beastly! >D

And nah, the Asura are the little ones.
The Sylvari are the plants.

They are the Gremlin-like people. :3

I think a Charr warrior would look cool. biggrin

I also want to make a Charr but I'm not sure what profession.

oooh... maybe i'll eventually have a asura ranger... with woodworking skills? to make their own bows/arrows? XD or whatever.

i gotta tell you guys. i'm not one of those players who plays just to grind dungeons +nauseum, rinse and repeat. i hated that part of wow. the need to farm heroics and dungeons. ugh. i don't like being stuck in one place for more than hour.. maybe hour and a half. after that, i'm bored. but.. i really like crafting. i like crafting because it makes you explore the world, and then you get fun stuff you get to keep and use.

i hope their crafting system is useful. like.. it becomes worth it to not only make items; but it is more useful for other players to get from you. in wow, noone wants the early stuff you make; they just farm old dungeons.

From what I've seen, their crafting system is super cool. You can even experiment with items.
Here is a crafting video with commentary to help you out. :3

Oh, man. As far as races go, I've always played the human, or most human-like race. That's because they're pretty much the default race, and by default it means they're very balanced. I don't often have time to join parties and go on extended quests, so soloing is a pretty big portion of my time on these MMOs. I need a balanced character to pretty much ensure I've got a decent chance of survival on my own.

Contrary to this logic, I often choose the weakest damned classes, lol. I love a thief class. Short-range weapons, not the best armor, nobody wants you in the party until you get a special skill, like, 20 damned levels on... It was suicidal. But I loved it. I also played a Red Mage, which was pretty much the middle ground. Decent attack, decent healing magic, decent offensive magic. Could I attack as well as a Warrior class? Hell no. Heal as well as a priest? Hell no. Do as much magic damage as a black mage? Hell no. But I could work in a pinch, if no other was immediately available. I was the master of flexibility.

Crafting is supposed to be able to make comparable level gear to anything else you could pick up. It'll be useful in the fact that it will provide unique skins that people may/may not want.
