Olan flinched a little. "I can't possibly give you my name," he said, almost shakily. "Besides, I doubt you can destroy my home. You're nothing but a hallucination." Somehow, it seemed like a very bad idea to tell the man that, but it wasn't like he could do much about it. What can an illusion do, anyway? They were only tricks of the mind, nothing more and nothing less.

By now, he was getting very annoyed by the hallucination. He didn't look like he planned to go anywhere, but no matter how much Olan tried to get himself to snap back into reality nothing seemed to work. Had he gone insane so quickly that he could no longer distinguish between reality and fiction? This thought was scaring him almost as much as the hallucination was. Not that he should really have a reason to be scared of a mind trick.

"Who are you, anyway? That is, if you know." Well, even a hallucination had to have a name. There was no superstition about knowing what he was imagining. As long as he kept his mouth shut about his own name, then he had nothing to worry about.

The god cursed under his breath. He caled his bluff. Kind of... He looked back at the human when he said something that shocked him a little. The human thought he was nothing more than a hallucination. The god smirked,

"Oh so you believe I'm a hallucination, huh?" He floated in front of the human, "Would you like me to do something that would make you believe I am a god?" He asked with a slighty smugness in his voice as he gazed into the deep, black eyes of the boy. He felt like he couldn't breathe for a second but shook it off. "Well?"

When Vitae was asked for his name it threw him for yet another loop. This human was asking odd questions, but he answered them. There were no rules restricting their names from the humans. "My name is Vitae: God of Life." He held out his hand for the human. "And you are?"

To many, nothing probably clicked, but Olan was sure he felt some kind of click. That would explain why the hallucination wasn't like a human. Of course, not completely understanding what a god was, the recluse could only assume that this person was still nothing but a hallucination. After all, what would a god, if his assumption that a god was a powerful being, want with a mere fisherman?

The recluse didn't answer the first few questions the so-called god asked him. He honestly didn't care for any miracles his mind could conjure up in his self-acknowledged insanity. But at least the hallucination gave him a name to identify itself with.

Vitae... The name sounded quite fitting for a god. Ah, but unfortunately for the illusion Olan would not reveal his own name. He did have a different answer to the question, but he was pretty sure the god would not like the answer.

"I'm just a humble fisherman, or a recluse, since I'm the only human here," was his reply. "I may even be a mad man, since I have just imagined that a god is talking to me."

"Oh, you are not mad young sir, you are quite sane." Vitae circled him like a predator circled its prey. "I am all real and I am here to restore natural order in the Holy Forest."

Vitae stopped for a second in his tracks. There was something else wrong in the natural order. "Curses..." He started to float again, "I'll be back human! And I will get that name!"

His voice echoed through the forest. He shot up into the clouds and pierced them, making a hole in one and sunlight glowed through the hole and onto the lake.

Olan had to sigh in relief when Vitae finally disappeared. "As if a god can actually be real," he muttered as he returned to his little hut. Since there was no time on his hands, he may as well prepare the fish. He wasted enough time already listening to the hallucination.

Inside, it seemed Timiki had already finished eating her rabbit. There was only skin and bones now, and the fox was already staring curiously at the fish. Perhaps she was still hungry?

"Yeah, I know, I'll start preserving them," Olan said as he took a few of the fish. Timiki just watched him, perhaps worriedly if he read the aura right. Did it have anything to do with the hallucination? Was she concerned about whether or not her human companion was sane?

Vitae came back into the hut, "I'm back. I actually knew that one's name." Although Vitae had disclosed somewhat confidential information it didn't matter. The human would die anyways. Besides, who would he tell? The human still thought the god was still a hallucination.

"So tell me human, why do you believe I'm a hallucination and not take my word that I am a god." He looked down at his attire. he did look somewhat look like a human. However, whenever a god came down they would have to change into more human attire when they were doing official business or have communications with humans.

Vitae circled the human a few times. Then he looked at the fox. "Perhaps your fox could help me out..." He looked at the bones and the skin on the floor. "Ew... There's nothing I hate more than to see the skin and bones of living things..." He let out a sigh. "Although, it was killed in the sake of the natural order... Timiki, unless you're going to use these things for something practical, or this human is going to use them for something practical, would you mind burying them near a tree? The bones and skin would make nice fertilizer. If you'd like I could come with you to protect you."

Olan practically cursed when Vitae returned. This hallucination was probably going to be harder to get rid of than he thought. "I don't believe in such things," he said when Vitae asked why he wouldn't accept his claim to be a god. "Besides, why would a god see me? You complain about me killing a lake, but I'm a fisherman. I wouldn't be a fisherman if I didn't fish."

It struck him as strange at first when he heard the hallucination address Timiki by her given name. He hadn't told Vitae the name, but then again he was a hallucination and it would make sense that he would know what Olan knew. The hallucination even keeps claiming that it was a god, and gods probably should know names. Then again, this so-called god didn't know Olan's name, so was he really a god?

Somehow, Timiki seemed to respond to the hallucination, as she was already taking the rabbit remains outside. How was she able to see it, too? It was too bad Olan didn't know how to communicate with her, or else he would have known. For now, he would just assume that they were seeing the same thing. No one said the same hallucinations can't be seen by different beings, or even more than once.

"I don't see how you can't grasp the concept human. If you over fish, you kill the lake. I could get into the cycle, but something tells me you're far too ignorant to understand." He looks at the fish he gathered, "Why do you even need this much fish?"

He could smell the death hanging in the room. He made a face. It was a stale smell. It polluted the air. He quickly flung the door open and stood outside of hut in the sunlight. The smell could make him gag. In fact, he did. He was relieved at the breath of fresh air.

When he could finally breathe he looked out to Timiki. Then he looked back inside at the human. "Human. Perhaps I could convince you of my godliness by going through some tests?"

"I'm not an animal, so I can't really hibernate and I probably stink at hunting in the winter," was Olan's answer when Vitae asked about the fish. "Of course, I also have to feed Timiki. She can hunt, sure, but I once worried when she didn't catch a single thing." He didn't expect the hallucination to understand, since he doubted a god would find his reasons justifiable.

Of course, when Vitae stepped out for air (did hallucinations need air?), Olan had to suppress a giggle. "I know it smells bad now, but the smell will go away once I preserve the fish." Well, that was entertaining. Who would have thought that even so-called gods would act that way?

Olan wondered why the Vitae so badly wanted to prove that he was real. To the fisherman, a hallucination can only be a hallucination. If the environment changed, he may as well have fallen asleep and only imagined everything.

Vitae stared at him. "Perhaps I could cause some pain. Do you believe hallucinations can cause pain?" He floated near the hut door and shut the door. Then he opened it again, "There's no wind, how'd that happen?"

Vitae was getting annoyed by this human. He seems so extremely stubborn and he was really annoying. he couldn't understand why he couldn't accept the fact that Vitae was a real god and he was there to stop the stupid ways of the human by killing him.

When he thought about killing him again he stopped for a second. It was like he didn't want to kill him. The feeling soon passed and he resumed being angry.

Olan rolled his eyes now. "I think hallucinations can cause pain... and bad luck," he replied. "As for the wind, I never really notice whether or not it should be there." Of course a hallucination could cause pain. Didn't his brain make him see it? It may as well make him feel whatever it does as well.

Now that he thought about it, everything that happened so far seemed too real to be a hallucination. Nonetheless, he wouldn't acknowledge Vitae as anything but. Somehow, he was sure that by doing that he was staying away from serious harm.

"What are you going to do if I tell you my name, anyways?" Olan asked out of curiosity. He figured it was a stupid question, but he felt he should know. But what difference would it make if the hallucination would answer such a question?

"I just want it." The god said a little smugly. His head had pointed upwards and he looked like a spoiled girl who hadn't gotten her way. It was the truth so there were no signs that he was lying. His voice was steady and firm and his eyes hadn't strayed from a path that seemed completely normal. Then he looked back at the human. "So? Will you give it to me?" Vitae circled the human a few times and waited for a reply.

Olan almost gave in, but he managed to hold his tongue. "Forgive me, God of Life, but I can't possibly give you my name," replied the recluse, with a rather sarcastic and questioning tone. "Isn't it strange that you don't know it in the first place?" He didn't figured gods, or at least the God of Life, would know anyone's name, regardless of whether or not they ever heard it.

Only a hallucination would claim to be a god and yet not know the name of the one who imagined it. It could not possible be otherwise. Well, the other possibility was that Vitae was a crazy man, but it wasn't safe to give names to those people either.
PostPosted: Wed Apr 18, 2012 7:41 pm

The god became flustered. The human had pointed out some kind of strange flaw. Why didn't they know the human's name? They checked over multiple records and even looked at lineage. Something wasn't right about this human, or at least his records. He quickly dashed off to look again. When he came back he crashed and made a huge hole in the ground. He picked himself up with no luck and came back inside.

"I have no clue WHY you're not in the system. Maybe there was some kind of mix up or you're not even real." Great. Vitae though after he spoke. Now he has me thinking HE'S not real. He groaned and looked at the human again, "Tell me this human, why is it bad luck to give me your name? Is there some kind of story?" He crossed his legs and floated there in front of the human. He placed his elbow on his thigh and supported his head with his fist. "Enlighten me."

Olan was quite shocked about the hole in the ground. Somehow, he could see a bit of a contradiction to Vitae's reason to be upset with him. Isn't such a large hole dangerous to the environment? It may be only an illusion, but he was uncomfortable with it there. "You may want to fix that if you want to stay true to your values," he said, deciding he may as well play along with the hallucination.

When Vitae asked for a reason why giving names to a hallucination brought bad luck, Olan couldn't think of some answer. "Actually, I don't know any story about it. I don't even know why I believe it, but I don't plan on letting it go just yet." Now that he thought of it, the whole superstition does seem silly, but its silliness didn't matter right now. So far, it seems like following the superstition was protecting him from something terrible.
