"Why is he sleeping on the road?" Robin asked, pointing at Cray on the ground. "Is he going to get run over?"
"Maybe." Mag smiled then looked over to Ryan. "Can she have some water too?" she pushed Robin closer to Ryan. "I'm going to check some of the cars before hitting the sack..." She put down Ryan's backpack, then went off to check the cars.

"Of course she can have some water. I wasn't just going to offer only some of you water." Ryan chuckled. He put the canteens away after everyone had taken their drinks. "You go ahead and sleep. I'll pull guard."

Robin drank the water, then shyly thanked Ryan. She sat down on the asphalt and leaned her back against the door of a car and dozed off in seconds.
Mag, meanwhile, was looking into the windows of abandoned cars and testing handles on each one, hoping to find them unlocked. She was able to open up a few cars, and snooped inside. Most of the cars had been cleaned up long before they got here.

(This is a roleplay event not anyone's point of view, so no name.)
Inside one of the cars, Mag finds a newspaper article dated only about four days before the plague hit the city. It reads something about some dad found testing dangerous stuff on his own son... it only catches your eye because the picture of the son is Cray.

Mag was looking underneath the seats and in the glove compartments for anything that could be handy. Most of the cars were filled with junk, garbage and used food wrappers. So far, nothing worthwhile but a newspaper with Crays picture (as mentioned above rolleyes ). She looked at it briefly, then stuffed it into her back pocket. It would make good kindling for a fire, or at least toilet paper.
She went on to the next car and tested the door. It swung open and a rotten corpse fell out onto the pavement. Mag backed up and grabbed her crowbar, but the body didn't move. It was just a regular dead person. Mag pulled her neck of her shirt up, to cover her nose, and crawled in over the body to search around the inside of the car. She tried to open the glove compartment but it was locked, so she smashed it with her fist and it popped open. A prescription bottle of pills rolled out and Mag grabbed it. They looked like some kind of anti-biotics. They could come in handy eventually.

Ryan looked over at Mag. "I thought you were gonna sleep... What's with all the bustling about, making noises?"

"I said I was going to look around... But I'm done now... I found these." She tossed the pills at Ryan, then took a seat on the ground next to Robin, who was still sleeping. "I just thought maybe we should find something useful."

Ryan caught the bottle and read the label. "Amoxycillin. Well, I'm sure our possibility of infections supersedes the need for... Mr. Carlow." He put the pills in the side pouch of his pack. "They'll come in handy."

"I also found a road map... I don't really know this area, and I don't know about the others, but it might help us plan our next move, once we get to the city..." Mag yawned and leaned back against the same car Robin was sleeping against. "Wake me up if you want to take a break, and I'll take over watch, ok?" She crossed her arms over her chest and closed her eyes.

"Sure thing." Ryan moved over to a car nearby and sat on its hood with his m4 across his lap. He had no intention of waking her up. Ryan was used to operating on little to no sleep. The Army had trained him to be that way. Instead, he watched the stretch of highway for any threats and let his mind wander.
