The technology is there today for prosthetic body parts and the movement mechanisms for the brain to be able to tell that area to move; however, in the case of GITS where cyborgs have a cyberbrain this is something that would be way beyond our years to be in creation. The form of Artificial Intelligence still has not been even brought as far to have un-natural beings discussing the meaning of life i.e. Tachikomas. In order for a cyberbrain to exist and function properly, a means of transferring brain data and memories would have to be created. Transferring data of this magnitude has not been founded yet and may take quite a long time even past our lives to manifest. Yet it would be nice to be able to access memories on a data file, I would definitely look forward to this.

It's not at all impossible, we have made great strides in science, and who knows, in the next fifty-sixty years? We may just get lucky!
I just hope it happens within my lifetime. I'd switch to a full prostethis within a second after the age of fifty. XP.

Oh yes, I agree that I would like to see the technology happen at least in my lifetime. A cyberbrain would definitely be a HUGE stride when it comes to scientific development.

It certainly is an interesting idea, though even if possible is many decades away :-/

Mabey, but then again, there has always been things like that for the future. But Japan is getting closer to things like that! So who knows! blaugh

it would totally rock if the future was like that and we were all cyborgs dude it would be the best thing ever................................but then it would too bad since the sun is going to be destryoyin its self and by the time the future becomes likeGITS the sun would have already destryed its self and too.

I believe it is very possible, seeing as how we have come so far in technology. I know I personally would switch to using an Exocortex and a full prosthetic body in an instant. The technology is really absolutely fascinating, and I dont see it being that far off really, even maybe within a the next 75-100 years...Sadly, I wont be around most likely D: Links you all may find interestingBrain-computer InterfaceAugmented realityCyborgMan-Computer Symbiosis (paper)

Well the wars explained in 2nd gig are very believable in my opinion. Like WW3, I think it could happen. And also phostectics do exist but theyre not as real looking as phostectic bodies in GITS, so who knows we could get more advanced.

well I know they already have microchip implants for the eye that improve eyesight and they are working on ones that you could watch TV with in you eyes biggrin so I think that on some levels it is definitely possible

necat and it makes me sad to think that i wont be around to see any of the futures advancements...it makes me realize that were all human in the end everytime i think about it... gonk I know, sometimes when I think about how cool and interesting the future will be, I get sort of sad because we won't all see it, because, in the end we all die and no one is immortal. As soon as we're born, we start dying.

I agree without a doubt that the future could be like GITS. Scientists are practicing in creating artificial limbs that work and respond the the human body. There are even cyborgs today: people who wear contacts, artificial heart users, and any other artificial scientifically manufactured object placed on or in the human body to keep it alive or keep regular functions running properly. Full prosthetic bodies in the future is a sure possibility.

I suppose anything is possible, as for mentioned science is already developing artificial limps and pacemakers and such, but Technologies like cyber brains and full cybernetic bodies are impossible for me to comprehend how they would work in the real world. I not saying the future can’t be like GITS I saying I’m not Nick Cage I can’t see the future I mean if I went back to the 70s and showed them THE Matrix someone’s brain would explode.
