TheyCallMeJustiursa m00tz I'd just build and play U/R combo till it gets stuff banned. ^This. A pyromancer's Ascension deck with a couple of titans should be fairly strong. Just pure storm combo. 4 Desperate Ravings 4 Desperate Ritual 2 Empty the Warrens 4 Gitaxian Probe 4 Grapeshot 4 Manamorphose 3 Past in Flames 4 Pyretic Ritual 3 Pyromancer Ascension 4 Seething Song 4 Serum Visions 4 Sleight of Hand 4 Island 1 Mountain 4 Scalding Tarn 4 Shivan Reef 3 Sulfur Falls

Good starting point: Pithing Needle, Spot Removal, Enchantment/Artifact hate, Disruption, and Board Cleaning makes for a good Generic board, then can be workshopped from there.

I ran a deck built around the Izzet Guildmage + Lava Spike + Desperate Ritual combo. It worked wonders - I had an almost 100% win record, and could usually finish the game on turn 4.
Then Ponder and Preordain got banned and I had to say goodbye to consistency... was thinking of replacing them with Peer Through Depths and Gifts Ungiven, but that would almost slow it down to unplayable. Any suggestions?

Is Pyromancer Ascension worth running in the deck below? Copy effects don't add to the storm count so all it does is double your card drawing and mana ramp. Is that enough?
There was a storm combo deck in Time Spiral standard that ran Pyromancer's Swath with Grapeshot as the wincon. I might go with Swath over Ascension and switch out Warrens for Ignite Memories.

I've seen both builds perform well, and the skeletons of the decks are similar enough that you can just side in one or the other without changing much else. Swath is a bit trickier to run I think, since you're planning on blowing up in a single turn, so I would probably start with Ascension for stability and sideboard Swath in instead if the opponent isn't getting in my face a lot.

Ponder getting banned in Modern pissed me off... and in extended now. It's also restricted in Vintage... I told people it was a good card. No one listened... I love the card though. Just don't get banned in EDH -fingers crossed-

There is no way Ponder will be banned in EDH. Or Preordain or Brainstorm or any other 1 cmc draw spell not named Ancestral Recall.
So that's one less thing to worry about, at least.

Banning Ponder would have been enough. The dig three in a format with fetch lands is huge.
