As the blood receded slowly from Nexus' artery he attempted to relax, to avoid putting himself into shock. After about a minute and thirty seconds, Nexus had drained approximately half the necessary amount of blood. As expected he was starting to weaken, only slightly at first. Soon however his words started to become further apart, and slightly slurred as he attempted to fight the need to sleep and recover. Just as he thought he would faint, the last quarter of a liter finished draining.

He removed the needle from his arm, and attempted to exchange it for the needle needed for the transfusion. His hands shook, and it became quickly apparent that he wasn't going to be able to continue on his own.

He reached over and held the needle out to Sasha, "Sasha, I need you to find the main inbound artery and insert this needle. Then, when you have the needle in and taped you need to attach the tube from the blood bag to the pump and from the pump to my arm. The pump should start the flow when you press the green button. to the right of the screen."

Nexus sipped at the broth and continued to guide her hands for the procedure. He continued to slip to thoughts of her feminine features. She smelled sweet, and Nexus' sensitive nose picked up on the scent easily. His face reddened despite how pale his skin was because of the loss of blood. His heart rate began to climb, faster and faster. Luckily, the operation was at a close to finishing and his heart began to pump the synthetic blood throughout his body. No immediate problems occurred, and Nexus recovered enough to have even breathing, which was deeper than normal to match his flush. He sat up, attempting to get out off of the chair, and his balance began to falter.

Nexus had to fight both his urge to persist and to draw her close. This proved difficult, so he compromised to let her help him to his feet and did his best to ignore her closeness. He flushed a bit more, but otherwise kept his breathing even and carefully moved over to the mat on the ground, suddenly wishing he hadn't removed his bed to make space for his equipment. His indecision was quite clear, as there was really nowhere for Sasha to sit comfortably. His subconscious thought moved to the front of his mind, 'I should offer to share the mat, we would be comfor-...' Nexus shook his head, clearly astounded at what he was thinking. Such thoughts were animalistic and distracting, he couldn't permit distractions, and dismissed the notion the best he could. He remained standing clinging to her for a moment, and then sank to the floor and onto the mat.

Nexus lost all composure. His emotional barriers fell and he relished in the passion of her touch. He barely knew Sasha, but something about her wild passion rung true in his heart. He shifted into his natural form, and curled around her. His massive form seemed to engulf her. Tired and content, he rested with her at his side, his breathing easier than it had been in years. At peace with the world, he slipped into sleep. A restful sleep that lasted longer than the feeble hours of rest he had gathered between long days of work. His dreams were fraught with passion and affection, shifting into a deep contentment. The entire time, his dreams seemed to revolve around the wolf he clung to.

Morning broke, sunlight streamed through the windows as the sun peaked over the horizon, filling the room with a golden red glow. The sky was clear, the storm abating at the warm glow of the sun.

Nexus' eyes remained closed as he woke. He felt a smaller form curled next to his. Opening an eye he saw Sasha's beautiful red form and growled softly in joy. He was content to lie there with her for an eternity, enjoying the feeling of closeness he was experiencing.

Nexus rose, mind buzzing with foreign thoughts. Staring out the window at the sun for some time, he puzzled at his situation. How will I ever explain this to Lady Prufalas. If I fall for Sasha, surely she will find out. Will my position in the pack be compromised, or strengthened?
After some time he dismissed his pondering, deciding only time would tell. Moving from the window sill to his workbench, Nexus took a sample of blood from is arm. Dropping a small amount of the scanner he checked the white blood cell count, and recorded any other measurements necessary for his study.

Nexus dressed himself and decided he should get in some training. After leaving a note for Sasha. he rolled up his sleeve and made his way to the grounds.

Nexus returned to the room late that afternoon. He has spent the better portion of his morning and afternoon in the fight against Nihil, and he was exhausted. He noticed upon entering that there was food prepared on trays and he looked around for Sasha. He shifted back from his half-wolf form then to start organizing some of the things in his room, occasionally stopping to eat some of the food that had been prepared for him.
