Centeng peered around the parking lot of the hospital from a distance in a burnt out car using her rifle's scope. She kept her head below the metal of the door only staying level enough to fit the scope over the door's window threshold.
"Windows?", Michael interrupted more like reminded her in his peculiar accent to check the usual vantage points. He was lying down in the charred remains of the back seat of the burnt out sedan out of sight. Centeng rotated her scope to look at a building that overlooked the parking lot. She saw nothing in the windows,
"Check, clean.""The greenery.", he spoke again, this time Centeng shifted her scope to look at various spots where shrubbery was present. Clean.
"Check. Clean", she rang off.
"And now the target grounds itself.", Michael spoke again. Centeng of course moved her scopes point of view to the hospital scanning the doors and windows up and down.
"Check. Clean", she responded ducking.
"All right then, let's get what we came here for.", Michael rallied opening the door of the car, pulling his Mini 14 rifle along with him as he exited and made a sprint to the nearest cover which was a concrete barrier. Centeng replaced her rifle's scope back into it's respectable pouch and peered out the window awaiting Michael's signal. Michael waved her on and started sprinting forward and didn't stop until he smacked into the side of the building with an increased rate of breath and heartrate. Centeng did the same coming up beside him. She held her AR-180 rifle close to her and took point going through the parking lot entrace first with Michael following suit.
The entrance hallways were dead empty, dark and were lit soley through the beams of light streaming through the windows or the holes where windows once stood. Michael shouldered his Mini 14 and slowly took steps forward while Centeng seemed to be more relaxed while walking. Since the power was out they'd have to go into the sub basement storage room through the maintenence stairs. Centeng stopped at the door that read "Maintenence Tunnel Maintenence Workers Only" examining to see if the door was broken into. When she found it to be securely locked she reached around her waist and pulled from a brass loop attached to her mag belt a hammer.
She wound her arm and wailed on the knob breaking it off entirely. The rest she did with a knife. The walk down into the maintenence tunnels was dark but Michael had a couple of road flares taken from one of their previous ventures to spare. The room they were looking for, they found untouched.
Michael and Centeng looked over the dusted over inventory with a delight. Michael slung around his pack and started shoveling in antibiotics, adrenaline shots, and syringes while Centeng took painkillers, tranquilizers, and trauma kits. They packed up and left and went through the halls of the hospital exercising the same amount of caution they did while coming in.
They were at the hospital rear entrance when they took off at a sprint.
