Chapter One; Falling to Earth
It was like any other evening in Evermore the sky harbor was a buzz of activity, while down below, traders, travelers, and town folk bustled in the always busy streets. Never a quiet moment within city limits, with all the incoming and outgoing ships. Up at the top of one of the four harbor towers, A few passenger airliners were docking for the night. As travelers made their ways down the ramps, a young female Canine in the military garb of Grandos was asking for identification papers along with other soldiers. The woman let out a sigh and looked over at one of the many clocks you found throughout the floor, still one hour till she was done for the night. It wasn’t that she hated the work she was doing at the moment it just got repetitive quickly especially when that’s what you did all day for about a week. She was looking forward to switching over to patrol duty after her day off tomorrow. Just then the commanding officer came by with a few soldiers following close behind. The Canine and the others on duty saluted, “As you were,” they returned to their work. “Lt. Snowfoot, anything to report?”The Canine perked her ears, she glanced over the papers in front of her and stamped them before passing them back to the owner, “I have nothing to report sir, it has been rather peaceful.” The officer scratched his chin, “In that case you and your subordinates go now, we’ll handle the last of this batch.” He signaled those following him to take over. “Sir, that’s rather unnecessary, we can-“ “You can, but you only have tomorrow off, before you’re back on duty. Go, it may not be much extra time but… you’re still young, you don’t understand what time really is.” “Sir, thank you.” Eva had heard that ‘young’ line a lot growing up, even now off the record she heard it often, especially from some fool hardy man, “Well then, we’ll take our leave then.” She salute once more before turning around and walked off followed by her colleagues. After a short walk, Eva sniffed the air, there was a familiar scent, she told the others to go on ahead, and she went off on her own moving through the corridors closer to the scent. A young blond man was glancing over a rather long list in front of a trolley, with what look like a new oven, and other pieces of cooking equipment. “Alright that’s everything, Thank you kindly sir.” The man passed over a bag of gald to the merchant who bowed before entering what looked like to be a warehouse. Isaac began to push the trolley towards the center elevator within the tower. Before he knew it an extra pair of hand appeared beside his own. He turned to see they belonged to Eva, “Hope you do realise even if you do help, you’re not gonna get a free meal out of the old man.” “How rude, I’m just helping you out Isaac, nothing more.” Isaac snickered at her, but kept silent otherwise, “Anyway why the new oven didn’t you guys just-““Please don’t ask,” funny as may have been, having his father again create another batch of exploding bean buns and then proceeded blown up yet another oven. He really didn't want Eva to think any less of his father.

Takano walked through the streets of Evermore, moving slowly so his son could keep up. The red-haired boy was moving slower than usual, but Takano didn't show any sign of impatience. "I keep telling you not to overdo your training. You're still young, and have years ahead of you." Yuu looked at his father, his face a little red. He had no idea the elf knew that his son was getting up early to train in magic. He thought it was a total secret. "I just, uh....Well...." He didn't know what to say. Embarrassed, he looked over to see a Canine helping a human move an order. "Dad? What's it like? When someone helps you with something?" Surprised, Takano turned and saw what Yuu was looking at. He rested his hand on the half-elf's shoulder and shook him a little. "Hey, now. Don't go into one of your trances. You're not a kid anymore. It hurts my back to carry you." He smiled. "And, it's just a feeling of relief. Nothing more. Don't let these things bring you down. Half-elf or not, your still my son. You'll make friends soon enough." He looked around, looking for a place for him and Yuu to rest.[[ I hope this will suffice? ]]

A few blocks over, Yvonne sat at a dirty table with a dirty man, wagering pieces of gold and silver. "Your turn, boy." Yvonne smirked. She had this game wrapped around her pinkie. She laid her cards downs and watched the man's face twist with anger. "What!? How did I lose to a a boy twice as younger than myself!?" "You didn't lose to a boy." Yvonne rounded up the gold and silver. "What?" She smiled. "You lost to a girl. Shove that in your gambling record. Outsmarted by a little girl." She walked away from the table and crowd, smiling at their bewildered faces. "Next time, place a little more on the table!"

Aiden Taylor
"People always ask what's more important to me. My sister, or my alchemy?" Aiden walked into Evermore, a sour look on his face. He had found out the location of a new item recipe, but just as he was about to head out, Cecily declared an surprise visit to their hometown. "Can we hurry it up, Cecily?" He looked away when she shot him a death glare. "I'm just, uh....I want to get that recipe before some other alchemist finds it."
"The answer is simple. I love my alchemy, but my sister is the most important thing in my life."

Cecily Taylor
"Ever heard the phrase, 'Looks can be decieving'?" Cecily glared at Aiden, watching as he looked away. "Oh, please. Everyone knows alchemy isn't as common as it used to be. As far as anyone is concerned, you're the only alchemist. You heard that guy in...wherever it was. You're the first alchemist he's met in his lifetime. And, he was a five hundred year old elf." She turned and started her way through the streets. "Come on! Lets go see Mom!" She knew the woman wasn't their real mother, but she was the only mother Cecily knew.
"Well, I may look like a normal girl, but I am far from it."

After a day of working on dry-dock airship repairs, Dell Anil, a young Felixin, emerged from the sky harbor. He had been dismissed by his master, a renowned airship mechanic, so he could seek dinner and have his "beauty catnap" for the night. In fact, his master was allowing him vacation time, which he planned to use to relax. That is, not visit his family very much. Maybe for a day, but otherwise he had free reign over his activities! This was any kid's dream. He arrived at his usual restaurant, and the cooks knew what he wanted, and delivered. He devoured his large plate of maki sushi, thinking over what he planned to do. He shifted in his seat, as if he had a rock in his pants. He was quite excited. This was not to say that he disliked his work (to the contrary, he knew that it was what he wanted to do), but he didn't dislike time off, and the freedom that comes with it. Speaking of freedom, as a regular (an at-least-once-a-day-every-day kind of regular), the restaurant owner, a friend of his, rewarded him with an extra plate. "Man, life is good!" Yes sir, another ordinary, fantastic vacation...
((Dell's master, a renowned airship mechanic, can be made and used as a character by any of you. However, if he doesn't appear soon, I shall create him as a supporting character. Thank you for your time.))

Celine Michaelis ((OoC: Is there any specific features you want for Dell's master? Race, age? Anything?)) ((Not really. If you're interested, you have free reign. However, I think someone fairly nice would be ideal, because otherwise Dell would seek someone else.))

Yuu walked into the nearby restraurant and sat on a stool. The person next to him was Dell, but he didn't really pay attention to who was next to him. Except his dad, who sat on the other side of Yuu. He was more focused on keeping the fact that he was a half-elf a secret. He didn't want to be discriminated against in a strange city. He looked at a nearby menu, and smiled a little. "What can I get you today, kid? And, Dad, I'm assuming." Yuu jumped, his face turning red. "Just some spaghetti would be nice. And, um....Some water." He saw a couple of girls looking at him, smiling. He hated his voice. It always attracted the very attention he didn't want. Takano noticed the girls looking at Yuu and giggling, and a playful smirk formed on his face. "You should think about going to talk to them. It's not uncommon for young elves to have short ears. They won't know the difference until you tell them." He looked at the waiter. "Same thing my son is having, but with wine, please." He let out a soft laugh at Yuu's red face. "Just saying." "If it's such a big deal to you, why don't you go talk to them? You're better at it than I am anyway." He watched as his dad got up, patted Yuu's shoulder, and walked over to the girls. "Dad, you're twice their age! You're such a pervert!" He hid his face in his hands and shook his head. "I'm doomed to a life of embarrassment."

((Okay just gonna say this now, mixed blood, isn't that high in terms of discrimination, We're not in Aselia anymore. That is unless your a Felixin-Canine blood mix, then your pretty much of an outcast as Godlings. sweatdrop ))
As Isaac and Eva pushed the trolley through the streets, Eva's perked at every little noise around her. "Never a dull moment in Evermore."
Isaac chuckled, "How often have you said that, since coming here?"
"Well when you say it like, too often?"
"Oh, not in the slightest, just a question."
"You ask way to many ques-" The two hit a bump in the street causing the trolley to tilt to one side, "-tion!" Eva pulled back hard while Isaac jumped to the side it had tilted and pulled it back down to earth, Eva let out a sigh of relief, "You idiot, you could have tripped and fell underneath this thing doing that!"
"But I didn't," Isaac smiled and started pushing again, "Besides if I get hurt you can just heal me."
"Idiot! Healing magic can only do so much, you could have died and I'd be unable to do anything."
"Seriously?!?" He sounded utterly shocked from hearing that.
"I told you that before! Honestly what a memory you have." Isaac chuckled again as they continued down the street.

A man with long black hair marched into the restaurant and sat down at an empty table, "Douglas, why aren't you at your pub?" one of the passing waiters asked surprised to see the man out and about at dinner time.
"Well there's a funny story to that." He got up and threw an arm around the waiter and continued, "It involves me, my oven, an old time family favorite and a bit of a homemade twist to of it that I added to it." He let out a loud laugh.
"You tried to make exploding bean buns again and blew up that new oven you got last month, didn't you?" Douglas stopped laughing, the waiter sighed, "beer and a bowl of chicken noodle."
"...please do sir," Douglas sat back down. and started playing with the utensils on the table.

Yuu hid his face behind the hood of his cap as he listened to his dad talk to the girls. He was embarrassed. Whenever the guy was around a cute girl, he lost his mind. "Your order. Where did--" "Please. Don't ask." He took his food and drink, glancing at his father. The elf was sitting on a chair, a girl already in his lap. "Excuse me, sir? Can I have a couple of those unused corks?" The waiter blinked, but gave him three corks. He aimed and flicked. The first cork hit his dad square in the forehead, making the man stop laughing and blink in surprise. "Your food's here, you perverted elf." Takano went over to Yuu and sat, tossing the cork at his head. "You're the one who suggested it. I think that girl liked me. Might have a--" "Oh, Dad. Please. Don't. I really, really don't want to hear that." Yuu ate his food, his face still red. "The other one thinks you're cute. Why don't you go talk to her? Have a little fun." He laughed when Yuu practically slammed his face into his food to hid how bad he was blushing. "Never know what it's like if you keep avoiding it. The girls back home may not have liked you, but I'm sure there are plenty of girls outside the village that will think you're a great guy." Takano let the words hang in the air as he took a bite of his food and sipped his wine.[[ Sorry. ^^; I'm not implying that half-elf discrimination is global. It's just, I figured that the elves would still be a bit strict on their village...uh...stuff, I guess. I'm just saying that it's all Yuu ever knew. He doesn't know any different. ^^; ]]

Cecily Taylor
"Ever heard the phrase, 'Looks can be decieving'?" Cecily looked around. She had lost her way. It wasn't unusual. She and Aiden had been traveling so long that she had forgotten the layout of Evermore. Sighing, she slumped down on a barrel and thought. "Now what? We can't leave until we go see Mom." She glanced at Aiden, seeing he was busy looking at the map with the alchemy recipe located on it. "Aiden!!"
"Well, I may look like a normal girl, but I am far from it."

Aiden Taylor
"People always ask what's more important to me. My sister, or my alchemy?" Aiden jumped and covered his head with his arms, standing on one leg. He looked at Cecily, and his face turned red. "Er....Um...." He looked at the building she was sitting in front of, glaring at him rather dangerously. "Hey. We're right in front of a restaurant. Why don't we go in, get something to eat, and then ask for directions?" His voice had gotten softer, as if alchemy had completely vanished from his world. He saw Cecily sigh and get up, leading him into the building. "Don't think I've ever been to this one. Maybe it's new? Or, just...not a place Mom would want us to be, I guess."
"The answer is simple. I love my alchemy, but my sister is the most important thing in my life."

As Yvonne walked down the road, tossing the bag of gold and silver she just won, she saw a Canine and a human pushing a cart together. She thought it was a bit strange, but not as strange as seeing the looks on peoples' faces when they learned she was a girl. "Mommy, I'm hungry! Mommy!" Yvonne looked over. Like a lot of places, Evermore had people that couldn't afford houses or food. This was one of those cases. A child, and a pregnant mother. "I know, dear. I know. We'll get food soon." Yvonne looked at her bag and went over to the two humans. "Here. I have a lot to spare. You three need it more than I do." The mother looked at Yvonne, cautious. She opened the bag and poured the money out. Some landed in her hand, and what fell out, the little boy caught. "Please. Take it. I want to help." The two took the money, thanked Yvonne a ton of times, and then scurried off. "Don't mention it." She smiled, turning back to head to the restaurant. Of course, that was all the money she had. She was completely broke now. There is no great price to be paid when it comes to helping those in need. Right, Dad?
