Duchess Rhea Is it safe to assume that there are no guns, explosives, or stuff like that in this world? Actually, Ivila is unique in that there is both a highly technological aspect [for it's time] and a high magical aspect. In Serrucia you'll find mages and potions, etc. but you might also find that they managed to develop simplistic devices that make everyday tasks easier, like a refillable inkpen versus goose-quill for writing, or to go with your example, a single-shot pistole.. minor things that don't need more than some above average engineering to accomplish. It would be the norm there to see a society just on the verge of mechanical breakthroughs, steam-power and what not...
Now, then you move on to Esta Ro Sol; where there is this sortof twilightzone-ish Thomas Edison time warp, where suddenly your in an early american beach resort. Electricity exsists, and for inventions like lamps, simple telephone; the internal combustion engine is brand new, and a small handful of extrememly wealthy people own an automatic carraige to travel about the town, but beyond the aesthetics and limited use of modern technology, the town still relies on the world economy as a whole for raw materials and supplies
Both of these two areas were meant to have a sort of Night/Day to the other, but still focus on technological advance. Madeen and Alexandria are the two still in the dark ages, with some mild integration from the two North/South cultures; the primary reason for the stagnicity in Alexandria is the fact that the castle is ever standing, so won't change, and the people are mired in Dogmatic fear to step away from the brink and attempt to make the best of the two centuries they were given. Madeen is a succession of Alexandria, so they too were late in the advancement game
wow, sorta rambled, but to answer your question, yes guns and explosives exsist, but having extensive access to these objects likely means your character would have spend ample time in the Serrucia region. Think colonial weaponry; muskets, pistols, cannons, etcGood Questions, This is all stuff I have in mind but lay in text as the game unfolds. Anytime someone wants to know something about the world, just ask me. There are a lot of details I've mulled over already, but it's too much to cram into a few posts.

Cool! That's perfect, since my character HAS, in fact, spent most of her life in the Serrucia region. XD Perfect coincidence! Well, I've posted my profile. S'it alright? I'll intro tomorrow. It's rather late here (1am), and I want to have an epic intro. XP
I like questions. Don't be surprised if I come up with more down the line... I can almost guarantee it. XP

No problemo... Take your time; I've a few players that have less time to make posts as some, so I like to keep an easy going pace to the posts. I'll try to give everyone at least three days to make a post before making my next post, and hopefully they've used the time wisely and throw up a whammer when they finally log back on. I'll stay active! I just won't move the plot until everyone's had a chance.... that reminds me, excuse me please.......ahem, maybe he'll see it; actually he's been having some net troubles, so that's probably a contributer to his pace... Anyways!
When you have time, skim through the first act, it will have a bit of background info that should prove helpful in making an Intro post

inMadness but theres a plot there that hasn't yet been told... Did I add something I wasn't supposed to? sweatdrop
I had fun making her. Even the name holds special meaning (both "Daphne" and "Nightshade" are one of the top most poisonous flowers in the world). The only thing I'm worried about is if I can keep up her personality. I've never actually rped someone quite like her... Usually there's at least a shred of goodness. With her, zip... So I hope I can do it. A new challenge for me! mrgreen
And I've pretty much skimmed through it all, so I have a fair idea of what's going on now. I'll intro now!
EDITZ: Well, I've posted... And I gotta say... I'm a bit scared of my own post. XD

XD Quite the contrary, I only meant it's clear theres more to her than just killing, and it my job to pry that emotion out of her... Great post... I was hanging on everyword, inside I was screaming. "you're not gonna'... I mean she wouldn't really.... AH! She killed the kids!" Great job, I like her already.

Teehee! I'm glad I got that reaction. I just need to keep up the pace and amount of posting I do... I kinda like having a character that has no sense of morals. Killing kids is like doing the dishes. It's nothing.
EDITZ: I'm just a little confused... So, from the looks of it, there are two groups headed towards Alexandria, right? Is there a narrator? 'Cuz it seems like that fairy thing that you're writing for seems to be it... Am I wrong?

I think the fairy's a more combat based summon for Sayuri. (loldidn'tcheck) There are points of narration that help push the story forward, introduce enemies, and so on. The last one would be this: inMadness * * * The night moved on without incident; and morning brought a cool start to the day as they packed up and continued on their journey. Two more days of travel, just as the first. Long and weary with silence, whispers in the dark places of the woods that threatened, or drove them forward. It was a journey of unease to be sure, but one they completed nonetheless. Just as the sun set on the third day, the alabaster-white stonework came into view as they crest a large hillside. All that remained between them and their destination was the long, tree covered path that led them down to the West Gate.At least that's what I thought anyway. >.>

Kanto25 At least that's what I thought anyway. >.> You're right; that was my small narrative sect, and yes the fairy is a combat element your party was definitely missing. Welcome back, btw. your timing was uncannyThat's right, both parties are moving to Alexandria, where [hopefully] they'll be able to merge into one group before leaving. So, hang tight; your moment is coming soon >:] And for future knowledge, I tend to do as much in character as possible as far as moving things forward, but anytime I do an aside, or time-skip, etc. I'm likely to set if off in my OOC posting color [darkgreen] so everyone knows this isn't related to the my OC or the NPCs thoughts; something to keep in mind

Alright, gotcha. One more question, though, that's been finaggling in the corner of my mind. Sometimes you're rping as Sayuri... And I get confused... Who's character is Sayuri, ultimately, and why are two people (sometimes) rping her? Feels a little like godmodding, no offense... (I just read that section in Articx's Guide to Rping subforum, so it's started nagging me... XP)

XP) I don't recall RPing Sayuri... o.O The character I post for [at the moment] are: Kiera [summoner from Madeen] Ashe [Keira's summon] Luka [the "fairy-thing"] Unknown Hermit...
Other than that, I'll move characters in narrative posts when I think things are being held up too long. As far as I know, I haven't made any character say or do anything in my posts, behind dragging them along when they are inactive.

Yeah... Referencing this: inMadness Silence seemed a plague that wouldn't pass as Sayuri looked on at what might be her only means of salvation in those woods that night. As soon as she spoke; however, she had made her mistake. Dog's howled in the distance, and released deep, raspy calls in the dark; that no more to settle Sayuri's mind than the voice that followed. She would've heard Luka's paniced yelp in her head, being still waiting in the winds from their recent merger.
"Stand up slowly, and show me your hands." A man's voice said, grissly and raspy. "I'm not messing around. This cross-bow can fell a deer at sixty yards, don't test me at close range."
It was when she finally turned around and the torch he was holding illuminated her face, that he let his gaurd down for a moment; he looked at her clothes, and remarked how young she seemed to be out in the woods, so far from the town. "You're a long way from Esta Ro Sol, don't you think?" He asked, lowering the crossbow.
The man had long, untended and coarse hair, that matched a dark-brown beard making a mystery of what his face actually looked like beneath the hair. He was tall, six-foot; plus, and dressed in old, handmade garments; a woodman, through and through, and most likely a hermit, venturing no further than need would take him. He was old, in his forties at least. He looked the girl over, with no real expression penetrating the brush on his face, before returning to the doe he'd felled in a hunt he was only returning from when he stumbled over her. He lifted the limp beast over his shoulder before moving towards his home.
"Come along then." He instructed, stopping to glance back over at her for only a moment before continueing. Maybe that's just you moving the plot along?

Well, I mentioned she looked on at the cabin, but she already implied she was doing that in her post before that; so then we move onto the implied action of her standing up to face the man with the crossbow. That blurs the lines a bit, but come on, if we waited for every flick of the eyebrow or nod of the head before our next line of dialog, we'd be posting little snippets of nothing, and daydreaming like crazy to increase post length; just my opinion, lol ...But, that was what I was hoping to accomplish; Sayuri and Jude are still a good ways from Alexandria, still being in the past with retro-active events. I need to hurry them along, and that mild powerplay saved me and her one or two posts in the end.
