Jei's grip tightened on Eris, though she didn't react. Bah, it wasn't anything. Maybe a stupid little kitten trying to frighten Eris..

She'd rip their face off.

"Then you be careful. Don't do anything you aren't forced to do. If they start to sting more the usual tell me.. I'll.. I'll.. There's that idiot white one, I'll threaten her! You'll be better for about a day, at least." A quiet sigh escaped.

Delila couldn't help but chuckle darkly. She remembered that all-white healer. She wouldn't mind doing a few things to that obnoxious cougar herself. Sure, she may have been an adult, but she wasn't a true member of this tribe, and therefore Delila held no reservations about badmouthing a cougar she had no respect for anyway.

She had noticed the discrete tightening in Jei's muscles. Jei had definitely noticed her. She was good. Delila needed to make sure that she didn't appear to be a threat, however. She wasn't looking for more enemies, afterall; she had made enough already. Strolling casually into sight, she smiled, flashing her pearly white fangs in a devious grin. "You ever want any help with that white cougar, let me know. It would be fun at least to take her down a peg or two." She chuckled, turning to Eris and nodding her head. "Hello again, Eris. I hope you're well."

Again, Eris just smirked. The White One was not looked upon with much esteem but was still more respected than she was. Then she heard a familiar voice. Looking over, she saw the same black furred and red eyed cougar from Gust Cliffs. Eris smiled gently at Delila. She remembered her, the nice kitten that didn't make fun of her.

"Hi Delila. Jei, this is Delila. That nice kitten I told you about. She says I am not useless. Delila, this is my sister Jei."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 12, 2006 6:14 pm

Jei let go of Eris' hand, eyes narrowing into slits as she eyed Delila. Well.. if the other kitten said her half-sister wasn't useless, she wasn't that bad. Still, she didn't open her mouth. The nice kitten.. maybe that was just a way to emtionally wound Eris later on..

Okay, maybe she was overreacting.

".. Nn."

Delila raised an eyebrow with a smirk, a little of her typical sarcastic nature showing through. "Nice to meet you too. I've heard a lot about you, Jei. Both from Eris and from other members of the tribe. Don't worry, it's all good," she joked, winking.

She looked at Eris again. "You know, you really might want to get that looked at. I'm sure with both of us along, we could get the healers to cooperate, right, Jei? I mean, there's no reason you should have to go about injured like that." She frowned in concern. An injured cougar was always a target and with Eris' history...well, things weren't in her favor. Even if she didn't fight, she needed to be in top condition. "If you don't go to the healers, what are you going to do?"

"I suppose. But I don't mind really. I'll just get another bruise tomorrow when Aunt Ruth wakes me up."

Eris looked off into the distance, toward Gust Cliffs. She wanted to go there again. Maybe Aunt Ruth wouldn't be mad at her this time if she went with Delila and Jei.

"I want to go to Gust Cliffs. Can we go Jei?"

"I can take care of her." Jei said, voice low as she reached over to lightly whap her half-sister on the head. "No. No you cannot." she said after a moment. "You can go try to bother someone for food or go play or something.. No Gust Cliffs."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 12, 2006 6:50 pm

Delila raised her hands defensively, shaking her head. "No offense meant. I know you can. Just an offer...and a chance for me to get a little revenge of my own. That's all." She watched, outwardly calm, but internally puzzled as Jei swatted Eris. That sure seemed to happen a lot...even from the one that was supposed to be worry about and project Eris. If anything was wrong with her, maybe that was the reason. She'd been hit so many times in the head that someone had broken her brain.

She decided it probably was a good idea to steer conversation away from the cliffs too, after that reaction.

"So...in that case, what are your plans?" She aimed this question more at Eris than Jei, as she seemed more friendly at this point. She took a moment to consider her own actions. Why was she being so talkative and social? Did Eris really fascinate her so much that she not only wanted to know more about her, but about her sister as well?

Eris took the light whap and sighed.

"You never want to come to the cliffs with me."

She shrugged it off then looked to Delila. What were her plans? Did she have plans? What were they doing before hand anyway? Now she couldn't remember. Oh well, must not have been important.

"I dunno. I'd like to go somewhere and sing. I made up a new song today."

Eris did enjoy her songs, as she was the only cougar in the tribe with a real voice for it. Her lack of any physical training left her with a melodious voice and the constant physical strain of being hit had given her excellent stamina.

"Can we go sing, Jei?"

She looked to her black companion, a gentle smile on her face.

The kitten paused before sighing. She could never really say no to Eris. "Yes, you can go sing.. I'm coming with you, though." she murmured, lightly ruffling her half-sister's hair, her way of making up for the small whap. The cliffs were dangerous. She could not let her sister get hurt. Therefore, she would not let her sister go anywhere really dangerous.

At least, not without her.

Which was really odd logic, she decided. She really could not help her if something really dangerous happened, and that thought scared her more then anything.

Delila remembered the last time she'd heard Eris sing up on the Gust Cliffs. The memory was burned into her mind and she'd never forget it, but she couldn't resist hearing it again if she had the chance.

"Would either of you mind...if I tagged along to listen?" she asked quietly, sort of embarrassed. Quicktalons weren't known for singing or anything like that. They were warriors, skilled in hunting and battling, not "artsy" things. She wasn't sure if it was actually against the rules or anything, but she was pretty sure it was frowned upon for Quicktalons to seek out such things. At least one such as herself who one day wanted to attain a position of power and respect in the tribe.

Eris smiled and gave her sister a small hug before turning to Delila.

"I don't mind. Jei is just really protective of me."

Eris lead the way to her other favorite singing spot. Since Jei didn't want her on the cliffs, she choose a small cave that went deep into the mountain. The resonance of the cave made her voice sound pretty. But this song would be different. She was angry and didn't know a real way to express it. So.....she'd sing.

Jei really didn't say anything to Delila. It wasn't like she didn't like her - quite the contrary. She was happy that the kitten didn't mock her sister like the others always did. And at least she wasn't being an idiot and trying to attack Jei for being rude. That had happened on many occasions as well..

Letting out a soft sigh, she followed her sister closely, yet another worried expression on her face. What if Eris cut herself? No, no, no..

She wouldn't think about it.

Delila nodded quietly in understanding, following the two sisters. She realized that Jei was just the quiet, protective type. She didn't think there was anything personal in her silence. It was just the way she was. And nothing wrong with that at all. Delila had been that way herself for a long time, for as long as she could remember. At least, until the recent changes in her behavior. For some reason, she felt herself drawn to other cougars and yearning to know them personally rather than just based on her distant observations of them. It really was a better way to get to know the true cougar inside.

As they entered the cave, she surveyed the cavern with unbridled curiosity and wonder. She must have missed this place in her explorations, but how could she? They travelled deeper and deeper into the darkness, Delila's eyes adjusting quickly to the lack of light as she wondered how far they were going.

Eventually Eris stopped at a crossroads in the cave system. Using some flint she lit a few torches and sat down facing the 3 gaping holes that lead off into the mountain. She thought about all that had been said to her by Ruth.

Useless, a burden, holding Jei back, no future.

Anger burned in her heart, but she showed no sign of of this on her face. Perhaps only her red eyes gave her away as they deepened in color. Suddenly a soft gust of wind started to blow past them from one of the openings. It smelled just like the wind from gust cliffs.
