When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean,
Longing for the shore, where I can lay my head down,
I'll follow your voice, all you have to do is shout it out...

Anna smiled at his response, and for a moment thought what it would be like to know what he was thinking. Unlike those other vampires- the blood-sucking ones, she couldn't peer into the minds of others. She mentally sighed with relief as he didn't do anything about her not moving.

When he chuckled and told her 'You're welcome Anna,' Anna couldn't help but smile more. She suddenly had this funny feeling in the pit of her stomach, well- like...Fuzzy kind of warm feeling. She suddenly blinked and broke off in her past thoughts to look down at her stomach.

What the-?

Anna stared at her torso for a moment. She oddly wonder if it was like those feelings from so long ago...She furrowed her brow, and tried to pinpoint it. What was it? If life were a cartoon, then a lightbulb would go off above Anna's head. She blinked in surprise. It was such an odd feeling...

She pushed it out of her mind for now, and looked out onto the lake. Anna smiled softly, it felt...Right. The lake seemed to be like a paradise, it was quiet and calm. In her mind, the lake was like a way to be. She looked across to the forest. "Hey!"

Surprised by speaking aloud this time, she almost jumped. Between the two first trees was two deer. The deer stayed put, their eyes wide as if caught in headlights. And pointed to them with one of her arms.
"Look!"

A baby fawn emerged from between the two, and the buck and doe both kept it in line, from running over and greeting both Zane and her. The fawn waved it tail excitedly, and started to moved around a little. The buck of the trio stared Anna down, and she merely blinked in response. The Doe looked timidly at the both of them, as if deciding if they were trustworthy or not.

And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side,
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

Zane was curious when she suddenly started to look at her own torso. He wondered what she could be thinking about, though she looked confused for a while until something seemed to make her realize what ever was going on. His curiosity was slowly getting the better of him, but he kept his mouth shut. Having thought it best to do so, for he didn't want her to feel uncomfortable. He had looked away for a moment and wasn't sure why he had, when her voice brought his attention back to her and he was about to ask what was up when she said look and the stretched an arm out pointing in one direction. His eyes followed her hand in the direction she'd pointed and he smiled at what he saw. It had been a while since he'd last seen deer this close before, and it made him let out a breath as he chuckled softly.

The fawn looked jittery, almost as though it would bound over to them any second if the buck and the doe hadn't been there to stop it. It was something he hadn't expected to see. Most male deers were territorial, going to lengths of even attacking people when they were in their territory. But this one stayed put next to it's mate and offspring. Keeping them safe until he deemed it other wise. He wondered what they would do now that they noticed they were there. It was something like out of a fairy tale and he'd read a lot of books to know this rarely happened. If it did then the person was considered lucky. He stood there watching them, his wings motionless as the wind caught their scent.

Anna watched the doe and buck, not to mention the fawn. It's fast paced prancing was starting to make her laugh. She broke into another smile and looked up at him again.
"Cool right?"

Anna knew she was acting a bit like a child, but that was of the utmost naturality for her. She was a fifteen year old that never aged, what could you expect?

Suddenly, the fawn backed up, and dashed between the miniscule gap between the buck and doe. Anna blinked in surprise. The two parental deer didn't move, staring with watching, alert eyes for any sign of hostile movement. The fawn ran up to the two, not more them a few feet away.

The fawn's small tail wiggled around, and it circled both Zane and her, leaning down to sniff Zane's pant-leg. Catching the scent, it seemed to snort and move onto Anna's shoe. Anna slowly held her hand out, and the fawn sniffed it. She smiled, and the fawn sneezed, Anna laughed.

The fawn moved back to Zane again, and looked up at him with big brown eyes- like a dog awaiting attention. It's tail still wagging as it awaited for Zane to do something. The buck seemed to frown, as if expecting hostile movement.

And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side,

Zane nodded as he mumbled a 'yeah' y=under his breath. His indigo eyes watching the small group. He glanced to Anna as she acted a bit child like, and it made him smile a bit, before turning his attention back to the deer. Zane watched silently, his features were soft and a light smile lingered upon his face as he watched the small fawn dash away from his parents to greet them happily without a care in the world. He watched as the small being sniffed at him and moved on to Anna. It was cute when he sneezed slightly, after sniffing her hand gingerly. It wasn't long before the fawn came back over to him and stared up at him with big eyes like a puppy waiting for someone to play with him or give him attention. He glanced over at the male buck as he watch waiting for any hostile movement, from either him of Anna. Zane sighed softly and was cautious as he reached out to let the fawn sniff his hand.

"Hey there little one...." he said in a softer voice then usual. One a brother or a mother would do to a baby that just became part of their family. He was mimicking what his mother had done to him many times in his past. It was a pleasant mixture to the words that calmed the nerves of the one it was spoken to, or to anyone that heard them spoken. He really didn't want to cause problems so he thought of the only thing he knew to try and help the situation.

Anna watched with a smile, watching him extend his hand for the fawn to sniff. Anna seemed slightly surprised to hear Zane talk in the voice to the fawn. It sounded like that voice Anna herself used with her younger brother when he was hardly two. She smiled slightly at that, remembering his fuzzy dark brown hair and bright green eyes. Yeah, that was Kyle for you. She remembered how Kyle was like a ball of energy every day. Everyone thought he was awesome. Well, they used other terms, like funny, and comical. Oh well.

The fawn leaned and almost tripped over his own hooves to sniff his hand. Hearing the soft voice made the fawn's tail wag more. He actually licked his hand. Anna smiled, and looked over at Zane. "I think it likes you." She whispered softly to him. The fawn stepped backwards and cozied up to his pantleg and started rubbing itself against it like some cat. The buck relaxed some, and laid down, the doe already calm.

Anna held back a soft chuckle, thinking this baby deer might be confused of it's animal-hood or something. The fawn continued to snuggle up against Zane's leg- like a cat. She merely smiled, and watched the fawn sit down beside his leg with finality.

Zane half smile and he knelt down slowly till he sat on the warm grass next to the fawn as he chuckled softly. He looked to Anna with a smile, "Animals were always easiest to deal with growing up." He looked back to the fawn as he reached out slowly and stroked the top of the fawn's head. His face soft as he seemed to remember something as he watched the small being. "Back when things were the toughest....I often found I could always turn to the animals of the forest to be friends with. To talk to when Mom was never around," He sighed softly, "But as the years past the creatures of the forest fled and I was unable to see them again....I could never seem to get along with the kids in our town. Having cast my mother and I aside, just because I was not the son to the man who had married my mother. They judged me by my eyes before I even had a chance."

He stroked the fawn gently as though it was fragile and Zane knew how fragile everything was from being a Shinigami most of his life. "Mother was considered a traitor and a whore that day, but she faced everything with a smile. Sometimes I often wondered if she wished I was never born.....I Always wondered if her smiles were faked, but I can't see her as such things.....I can only seem to see the warm loving person she'd been until she'd died making herself sick to take care of me." He hummed a soft tune one he heard his mother once used long ago before he paused in the middle of the song. "I lived several years after that.....I was still human back then. But when times didn't seem to change.....I was driven to despair and depression....I ended my own existence. I remember the feeling of being numb and unfeeling, emotions I no longer had, and pain I no longer felt. Feelings and thoughts had almost all together had ceased, and for a long time I was floating in a nothingness I didn't understand. When I was given a chance to reconcile and I was brought into the world of the Angels as an Angel of death. I was given my memories as clear as day. To suffer until I was cleansed of the crime I had committed, while I ushered the souls of the lost from the mortal realm."

His touch on the fawn stilled, "I was often given missions that our guild didn't understand and I had to solve deaths of people that died mysteriously when it wasn't their time to die. Sometimes I had to end lives, and sometimes I couldn't save people....I grew weary of my life once again and I had a sudden urge to try and save people, though and every time I failed I felt discouraged, but filled with determination. So I came here....when I found I couldn't control my summons. They are my protectors and my friends, along with my power over of healing. If I could control my healing ability then it's possible for me to save people, and I want more then anything to feel like I've saved people from a fate they don't deserve." He stroked the fawn once again before pulling his hand away and he looked out to the forest. There he went again....thinking of his past. He didn't know why, but he wanted Anna to know more about him and he spoke without thinking about it.

When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean,
Longing for the shore, where I can lay my head down,
I'll follow your voice, all you have to do is shout it out...

Anna listened to him talk, and she ended up sitting down in the grass next to him. She listened to the story, and the little tune he sang. It reminded her of a tune she remembered from her own childhood. She realized halfway through his story, that he had it so much worse than she did. How could someone be judged by their eyes? In her mind, it was immoral as...Well...World War Two. She remembered what it was like then, and she remembered solidly what the Holocaust was like. Anna heard his story, and felt compelled to explain her own life. She watched the fawn curl up close to him, happy with the attention it was getting. It's eyes closed, content and comfortable enough to relax and rest.

"Wow." Anna said it slowly, she thought of a way to comfort him in the least. She couldn't imagine killing people. She couldn't imagine any of it. That job of his must be a burden. She hesitantly put her hand over his- her face flaring up instantainiously as she quickly looked away to hide it. She raised her head up to the sky.

"I mean, way back when, it was just me- My mom, dad, and my little brother Kyle." She began. "Kyle got along with everyone. He was always so lively, he made everyone laugh. No one could frown when he was around." Anna was smiling as she explained her little brother. "We were a decent family. But..." She began to frown, "I was changed that night. I was walking back home. Late. And well..." She looked down on her wrist, which there was a small, pale looking scar. If her skin was closely examined- several of the same marks could be seen. Bite Marks. She had at least three on her left arm, four on her right, and two on either side of her neck. Not to mention the mark that was placed right along her jawbone.

"It was the worst thing I'd ever experienced. Not the changing, but being tossed out of my life. I was fifteen, and I still am." Anna shook her head softly, "But of course, those cult members who had gotten to me, they decided that they should correct their mistakes. They knew it would be easy, since all the others- including myself, can only witstand as much as a human. Natural deaths only, not bullets, not arrows or swords. But they tried anyways. You know that Great Fire of London? 1666?" She exhaled a sigh, "That was me."

Anna waited a few seconds, and continued to explain her story. "The last time I saw them was being consumed in the flames. They're dead now, I'm sure of it. Anna raised her head to the clouds again. "After that, I kept myself in the sidelines of almost every major event. The launches to the moon, Concerts, Broadway, WWI, Woodstock, Pearl Harbor, WWII. You name it- I was most likely there. If I'm supposed to live forever- why shouldn't I live it?"

And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side,
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

Zane he stroked the fawn while it rested absentmindedly as he looked to the hand resting against his immobile one. His eyes lingering there only momentarily before he looked at Anna when she'd looked away quickly he knew he was blushing just from her simple gesture. He listened silently to what she told him of her life, and he almost laughed at the mention of probably biggest death tole's in history that she had participated in or had some kind of hand in it. Though the one about 1666 caught him off guard, waiting for her to finish, he paused in his thoughts. He nodded, "Yes....though I took my own life it would be hypocrtical of me if I told someone to live....but I regret the decisions I've ever made in the past." He looked away "You had your human life stolen, but you kept on living the next life you'd been given....I don't think I could have ever done that." He sighed, "You mentioned 1666.....that....that was my first job as an Angel Of Death. I was new at it and my partner was a man named Yuta. He was younger physically then I was, but he'd been there twice as long."

"It was....I don't know how to describe it...but I remember what I felt.....I was afraid. More afraid then being beaten when kids thought it to be sporting to throw rocks and sticks at me. I'll never forget that day, because on that day Yuta lost his life as a Shinigami his weakness was water. Some one or something knocked him over and he drowned in a lake, I couldn't save him. I was frozen with fear.....I had a bad experience with fire...and I blame myself for his passing as well. His contract ended with is death and he was put back into the spirit realm." He half smiled though, "He was murdered in his time of life....He had an Irish accent.....I think he covered the time he wanted to live, and I believe he was happy with his life...well....for the most part. Anyways those wars and such you mentioned....were just as hard....every Angel Of Death was on the job during those wars, but we remained invisible to anyone's eye. Mostly because one of the higher Angels kept us invisible....I'm am so far the first to choose to go to an Academy...and I requested to be seen so I was an exception.... But.....to think we were that close even before now makes me want to laugh at the irony of it all." he half smirked as he looked over to her at the thought.

As an after thought he looked away, "I want you to know Anna.....if at any moment you feel threatened or your unable to protect yourself.... Always know I'll be there to help....okay?" He said as he looked over to her again. His indigo eye making sure she understood that he meant what he said. He had an odd feeling that something big was going to happen eventually and he wanted to make sure she would be safe.

Anna listened to him say he was there on that fatefull day of 1666. She smiled slightly, "Small world." She said simply.

As he conversated further, Anna payed close attention to the description and details of this Yuta character. She frowned softly, hearing about his death. "Sorry to hear." She said quietly. The immortal listened to him talk about how Angels of Death were there for the wars. "Huh, I wonder if any of them saw me. In WWII, I was the one person who got shot, but never died. It's funny how it's so easy to sneak into the millitary." She chuckled softly, as if wars were a joke. In Anna's mind, of course, wars were like a video game. Bullets never killed her. She would either have to die from a disease, or she had to be drowned, burned, or her neck would have to be broken- and no one was stupid enough to try that in a war. "The world seems smaller and smaller..."

She paused for a moment, "I had a friend once, Edgar Allen Poe. Well, he went by Poe back then. We caused a lot of mischief together. Of course, he had to lie about my entire existance. I was a Vampire of some kind and he knew it. He accepted it. A human!" She smiled. "Of course, I was looking too young for my age, and I could not just dissapear. So I faked my own death." She frowned, smile gone for a moment. "I'm not proud of it, and I know Poe is somewhat angry about that- me not telling him and all. I can't remember how long it was until I went back to his house- to check on how he was fairing. But he was awake. He had been expecting me. He handed me a piece of paper and told me to get out. That piece of paper was the first copy of Annabel Lee. He must have had a thing for me or something, because he mentioned me as a bride. Which I think is a bit wierd. But we were friends, just friends." She managed a dry laugh. "I read up on him recently. He was a good poet back then, I'm happy it worked out for him in that department. I am surprised though he never said anything of an Annabel Lee, boy would've that been bad." She smiled again- recalling.

After he mentioned him being there to help, Anna got serious. She turned to him. "Same for you, Zane. I'll always be able to help. I mean, I've told more of myself to you than I have to anybody. Now, that might be because I move around a lot- but I doubt that's the case. You're a good person." She smiled. "I get those kind of vibes from people." Anna didn't really have a clue of how powerful those worlds would be soon enough, but they would be.

Saraline somehow made it to the lake before Brett did. She hoped he didn't get lost because he didn't know his way around here. She spotted two people one of them being an angel of death she glared at him. The girl she couldn't figure out but she felt like something that should be dead. She sat on the shore of the lake and watched the water.

Anna raised her head, she looked at the girl at the shore of the lake, at Zane, then at the entrance. "Something isn't right..." She whispered softly. Her eyes darted side to side, and she stood up slowly. "Alright! Get out here!"

Brett emerged from the shadows, leaning against a tree. "I do recall you saying I died in 1666, Ms. Annabel Lee." He said in a smooth, serious tone. His stopwatch was paused, and he opened his eyes- souless."I believe you were wrong." Annabel was in shock, her eyes were wide. "I saw you burn! I-I saw it!" His lips curved into a malevolent smile. "You saw wrong."

Suddenly Anna was slammed into the ground with such a force it shook the ground. She felt feeling force itself into every inch of her body, and she struggled relentlessly."That mark on your jawbone ensures your death." He hissed. Anna cried out, and kicked him in the stomach hard- he flew off her and tumbled in the grass. In this moment, Anna shot her head to the side and looked at Zane, then at the girl. "Run!" She yelled at them, then jumped to her feet. She realized then it would be near impossible to inflict damage on him without taking the feeling in him. She'd feel pain. She already was.

Anna kicked up a rock and threw it, it smacked him in the head-- and he ran to tackle her down again. Anna felt the world spin and more feeling sucked into her. She felt the pain in her ribs and she thought hastilly that she needed to distract him. She suddenly bit him- yes. Bit him. She felt the foul taste of blood in her mouth and bit down hearder. Brett reared up and yelled. Anna swallowed the blood reluctantly. The blood he had stolen from her so long ago. And he threw her off in an instant, she skidded across the ground and smacked in a tree. Anna felt something break and spit to the side, out of breath. Her eyes meeting his. "If anyone's dying that would be you."

Saraline turned and saw the girl bite brett. She ran up to them but to the girl. Her eyes were dark red. She was pissed that someone hurt her new friend and one she actually liked. She picked up the girl by the hair and hissed, "Touch him again you little B***h and I'll kill you myself. People like you shouldn't exist little girl." She droped the girl and ran up to Brett looking quite worried. "Brett. Omigosh are you okay. she didn't hurt you did she?"

Anna yelped when her hair was being pulled. The thoughts in her head were jumbled, it was like a mix of 'Hey I can feel!' and 'Shoot, I can feel.' She looked up at her, her eyes flashing her luminescent blue. "I suggest you learn to pick your fights. For if you mess with the two of us again it will be you who ends up dead." Her tone was serious. She did not want anyone messing with this.

When she got near Brett, he pushed her behind him. He was mad, angry at her. How dare she even threaten the girl! Anna, his prey. His catch. His problem- not hers. "Why the hell are you here?" His voice was pained, and angry. "You shouldn't be here. Go." He was different than from who he was before- souless, careless, and cruel. As he should always be. He leapt off and grabbed Anna by the scruff of her shirt.

"I hope you know better than to test me. I don't see any ways to start a fire here." He threw her into the tree again, and Anna slumped, looking up at him with half lidded eyes. He glared at her, "Now. Which way do you prefer to die?"
Anna stared up at him, her insides were quivering, but she showed none of that sense. Her jaw set, the spot where he had last bit her showing. Defiance. Brett lashed out, and grabbed her by her throat. Within an instant, Anna began to thrash about. She used both of her hand to claw at his hand wrapped around her neck. Her vision was blurring.

Not like this...

Anna thought.

I don't want it to end like this...

Zane was aware of the sudden change in the atmosphere, the deer bolted a vanished beyond the forests edge. Frantic words were spoken and Zane had some how gone from sitting to standing in one leap. Zane's eyes narrowed and he felt anger rise withing him. His wings extended once more and he felt himself crouch before he knew what he was doing he was sailing towards the male who was hurting Anna. He found himself no longer alone either, his inalienably to control his summons had risen once again and now beasts of another world were by his side. Long had they been forgotten by the people of the world. He slammed a fist hard in the vampires direction knowing full well he would be enable to dodge it. Since it seemed like the man seemed unconcerned for him. "Who are you to say she shouldn't exist" Zane was pissed......no he was beyond pissed and an angry angel of death was never good in the least.

Not to mention the fact that Zane was already an unstable person. His usual clam and distance had vanished no longer being seen by the people around him. An almost dark aura burned around him, as his power started to take over, adjusting to things as they happened. Physical manipulation and vocal, he could adapt to many situations and even make himself stronger by using another opponents physical attributes against them.

As soon as the creatures began appearing, Anna's attention averted back to Zane. She watched him, his movements. Oh, she could tell he was pissed. Brett pain no attention- until he was punched in the face. Anna hit the ground in an instant, and she sucked in a lungful of air. She looked up as the otherworldly creatures. She stared, wide eyes. The teen lightly put her hand on her neck- as she felt it bruising already. As a matter of fact everything seemed to ache.

As Zane spoke, Brett regained his composure, he couldn't believe he was so incompetent to not notice the boy with his wings. He stood his ground though, and stared him in the eye. "She is living now because of my doing. My clan and I realize out mistake and are correcting it." The vampire spoke mistake with the kind of tone that was offending to Anna, and she set her jaw again, leering at him. He held back those inner feelings of calamitatum and fear behind his solid mask. The mask he'd worn all of his life. He clenched his hands in tight fists. "Do we have a problem, sir? I'm doing my job. So I suggest you call off your friends and get out of my face."

Anna, while the two were looking back and forth at eachother, had managed to scan the perimeter a second time. She shakily made her way to her feet and she swallowed silently. The metallic taste of blood was horrible, and there was a nasty ringing in her ears. She was more than anything, amazed how simply she'd gotten her feeling back. She looked over at the girl who had pulled her hair and yelled at her for defending herself, and glared. Brett hadn't even moved, and her only thoughts were to get over near Zane, he looked like there was an evil sense about him- she was almost concerned for him. He looked...Unstable. Anna knew though, for now- all she could do was watch.
