That was the last thing he had expected. By now he knew enough of humans to understand they were all different, but this one was something else entirely. He felt conflicted. Was it right to convey such information? Why did it matter? Prisca had a knack of bringing out some very silly human emotions that Xero was no closer to being an expert on than a slug was to being salt resistant.

He refrained from letting out a deep breath. It seemed they had been over this kind of topic before. "Ms. Prisca, you are a kind soul." He started out, though why those exact words he was unsure. "I do feel I owe you a great deal for this kindness."

His tail drooped a little more, though he did a great deal better keeping the embarrassment off of his face. He felt positively silly. For feeling he had said something silly. It was like a big mess. Women were quite hard to talk to....

Was that it? A quick peek behind him told the woman otherwise. His tail was still lowering. The message it spoke was as clear as it told what Pokemon he was. It didn't make the smile return to Prisca's face. She didn't like that something was bothering Xero this much. She cared a great deal about him. Like a friend, but, at the same time, more than that

The 'more than that' was pushed aside before her face could go hot at the closeness of their bodies. She tightened the grip of her hands closed around each other behind her back.

"Xero..." the female Mewtwo started, her own tail flat on the ground as it usually was. A small smile finally appeared on her face. Small his words were, they still did make her feel a little bit better. Like she was getting a small glimpse of what thoughts were turning in his head. "You don't owe me anything. I'm not nice to you to gain something. You don't have to repay me for it."

Tucking a bit of hair that had gotten stuck in her glasses behind one ear, she continued with,"Is that all that's bothering you? I don't mean to pry if you don't want to tell me....I just...Want to help. If I can."

If only Xero knew how much his tail was giving away. Like a window to his subconscious. Instead of lowing this time it raised with a start as Prisca mentioned not being nice for the benefits. Somehow that seemed to be comparing her to those scientists who -did- want something. Of course they were not nice, but it seemed like the sort of thing they would do.

He shook his head and raised his hands as if trying to stop someone.
"Ms. Prisca, I would never think such a thing from you." His hands lowered. He felt quite ridiculous all over again. "I cannot explain it. Perhaps I just do not understand. Please, do not think into it. I just feel as though there is something I should do for you. You have put so much effort into me..... Not because I believe you to have wanted something."

That did very little to relieve him of feeling silly. He still did not want to mention the locket for fear it would stir up negative emotions. Perhaps a human approach to this would be better. What was it they did? Something of days... dates! Was that appropriate? Xero vaguely remembered Trinity going on a date once and she came back quite happy. It was with a good friend she said.

"Perhaps..." He fumbled around mentally for the right words. "I could take you somewhere? A date?" Xero was certain she would know what that was, she was far better at being human than he was. Going out with a good friend, making them feel better. That was what it was.... right?

For a moment, Prisca's more aware human emotions jumped up from where they were hiding. Before she realized what she was doing, she'd had her arms unlinked from behind her back and was about to raise them to quickly hug the man. Until her senses overpowered the human side. That didn't sound right.

With her hands raised in front of her stomach, the woman lifted off the ground so she could be eye level with Xero, placing her hands on his shoulders like she needed the support. The smile was back on her face, just as bright, if not more, than it ever had been before.

"Good. All I want from you is you." At that point she took her hands back, placing them once again behind her back and staying suspended in the air. Without her heels, he was much too tall. Her neck had started to ache.

"If that's what you want to do, Xero," Prisca responded, her smile increasing to one of amusement. Date, indeed. Not something she surely would turn down from him...Had she thought he fully understood what he was saying. It left a small taste of disappointment she quickly pushed towards. No need for that. Those things made humans act stupid.

"Whatever you're confused by, anytime, tell me? It can be...A lot to take in at first. 'Specially both feeling and not understanding what anything is at the same time. Such as...That word might not be what you were after." She went silent for a moment, thinking about something privately. "Though I could certainly use...A date in a sense for a gathering next week. I've seen your world. Now see mine. But a date typically means..." It was her turn to search for the right words to use. "It's the start of courtship for humans."

The smile was enough to assure Xero it was the right course of action. His tail even perked up a bit. At least something had gone right, or so he thought. He was about ready to proclaim he would go wherever she wanted when the truth of 'dating' was brought to light. Xero immediately flushed red-er, as her initial touch on the shoulder left a slightly different hue on his cheeks, and his eyes widened. It was a strange mixture of embarrassment and oddly jealousy. So that is what Trinity was doing. But she was married? Oh, now it all made sense. The small times she was allotted off the island to be with her family she courted with her.. good friend, no, husband. If that was the right way to put it.

For a moment words would not come past his throat and when they finally came through it seemed they all came out at once in a weak and somewhat half-minded attempt to correct the term misuse.

"I did not mean, Please forgive my ignorance. I would not suggest such a thing, that is..."
Xero's tail nearly touched the floor by now. It would do him a bit of good to study more humans before suggesting things to Prisca. Perhaps his next suggestion could have been some sign of a mating ritual for humans, that thought of course made him blush even more. Damn these humans and their complexity!

The laugh sitting in Prisca's throat couldn't be contained anymore. The woman giggled at his reaction, raising her hand to cover her mouth in both embarrassment and politeness. Laughing outright at people like that was rude. But she couldn't resist. It was cute how little he understood about the human nature.

"Calm down, Xero," she said through her mouth, still having a good chuckle over the situation. Prisca had known the scientist's son to have gone on a few dates, himself, when she lived with them. So she, as always, had experience around the different courtships and emotions of humans. "I know what you meant. Like most things for humans, it can be a loose term. So long as both parties don't get the wrong idea. You can still be someone's...Date, without having romantic interest."

Smiling kindly to show she understood how difficult it must be for him to grasp all this, her feet settled back down on the floor. Her own tail had been limp the entire day. It was so much more comfortable for her to leave it trail on the ground under her dresses. Turning away from him, she grabbed a plate from the cupboard to stack the cupcakes on. "Better with me than someone else. I won't take you seriously." Setting the plate aside, she turned back around, leaning her back against the counter behind her. "If you are still up to it, I would love to take you to one of my gatherings. I always go alone."

Curse all these strange human customs and their simplistic complications! Xero couldn't think of anything to say at first, he still felt bad for proposing something that might lead the poor woman on. Even worse it was out of ignorance.

At very least he was able to make this mistake with someone who understands. He did what he could to mentally brush the offense aside before responding again.

"I will accompany you if will will have my company."
Gatherings, that sounded like a lot of people... Something despised but felt it would be more appropriate to keep to himself. "Is there anything I should know of these 'Gatherings'. I don't want to make you look a fool."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 17, 2011 3:07 pm

A look of utter seriousness passed over Prisca's face, the smile faint on her purple lips. For someone so unused to public situations, there were indeed etiquette about these parties he would need to know. She hadn't thought of this. She should have. It was a shock when she had first started attending them. With the help of her kind past, she was used to people. Not so much to them staring at her. The tail could be hid, but not the horns. Oh, she tried. With bows and hats.

It would be near impossible to hide most of Xero's, though, so he'd have an easier time. The smile fully faded from her face at that thought.

"There are a few things, of course," she responded softly, raking her brain to remember her first time. She had to learn those same points, herself. The household of a scientist wasn't exactly the best atmosphere for sophistication. "Most important being to always be polite. As hard as it sometimes can be," she added quickly. "I'm afraid to say, but I'm the only pre-existing Pokemon who goes to these. So if you're really not sure about going, you don't have to."

"While we talk, though...Is there anything you'd like?"

Being polite, something that didn't seem to be so hard. Seem being the key word. Xero had no desire to play nice with people should they act a fool, though Prisca perhaps would not associate with such people. Keeping his anger in check will not be a problem... hopefully.

"I see." Xero spoke after the thought. He might get a few looks because of his odd appearance. It was far more obvious that he used to be a pokemon than it was with Prisca.

"Tea....would be good, please."
The beverage came to mind, something light. There were different matters occupying his mind now than what to eat. A social gathering. It would be wrong to back down, especially after what he had drug Prisca through.

"No, I would like to accompany you to this gathering. Perhaps it would be best to stop hiding."

"I think so," the woman agreed, picking up the kettle from its holder and placing it under the running water of the faucet. She stayed facing the sink while she waited for it to fill, the purple tail sweeping the ground slowly behind her like a cat watching something to pounce. "It's not so easy to hide, anymore." Going silent, Prisca moved the kettle to the stand and flicked it on before reaching into a cupboard for two mugs to lay on the table.

"It...Would be a good start," she added, putting the tin of different tea flavors on the table besides the mug. With that all out of the way, she moved to stand close in front of the man, rising a little in the air so she was eye level. "They're already used to me. It should be fine." Smiling and nodding to herself as if she was agreeing with something private between herself, she settled back down on the ground before she did something she'd likely regret. "Yes. You'll be fine. Whether or not you believe me when I say you're kind. A few incidents don't make someone a bad person. Not everyone is perfect." Granted, the only person she'd really seen Xero interact around was herself. For all she knew, he could treat everyone else differently. Quite honestly, she found she didn't care.

And Mewtwo were intelligent. She shouldn't have to repeat being polite to him...Right?

Xero watched Prisca preparing the tea, taking mental notes on how to prepare the tea. It was something easy he could try himself. He was also equally paying attention to her words.

Mentally debating on weather or not he was a good person. Certainly he had changed since coming here, at least while he was around her. Her presence was calming, keeping whatever rage waiting to release itself at bay. The words from the scientists briefly came to mind... "Fail safe". Was she his fail safe?

He caught himself before he let his mind wondered too far.
"Is there anything else I should be prepared for?"

The tip of Xero's tail twitched. No one else would have received so much attention from him, he wouldn't care to. Why was this so important?

-purpose- That cold wretched voice whispered in his mind. His eyes narrowed as he tensed. It had been a while since he heard that voice. He shook his head and looked back at the tea pot.

Prisca reached up with a pale purple nail to bite the end of it as she thought on this. It all came naturally to her. She never had to think about how people were required to behave on these outings. Thanks to the woman who contributed her human DNA, she was sure. She remembered the things the scientist would say about his wife. How kind and polite she was.

"Formal attire," she said at last, taking the finger out of her mouth and holding it out towards him. "Braiding your hair would be helpful." A second finger joined the first. "Most important is just to be polite. I should have softened the blow to seeing a Mewtwo walking among humans. So hopefully it won't be too bad for you."

At that moment, the kettle made a little click sound. Turning around a little too quickly, the woman darted for it, pouring the steaming water into the mugs. Only when she had set the kettle back in its holder did she continue what she was saying.

"There is...One guy who may be there. That's why I stress the polite point. I almost lose my cool around him. But you must not. Formal parties are not the place to start fights. No matter how much the other deserves it." Her reputation would be at stake if a fight did break out. She was investing a lot in this. She was fully aware of the kind of past Xero had. Had already fully experienced and seen it with her own eyes. For the most part, being human did seem to soften his temper. Along with those times having been so very long ago. But when faced with someone as obnoxious as that Edward could be...

Now she was starting to worry herself.

Formal attire, from the sound of it his current assortment of clothing was not acceptable for this 'formal' engagement. The hair he could manage easily, braiding it wouldn't be that hard to figure out. That left the clothing as far as physical notes were concerned. Perhaps he could find someone wiling to pay him so he could go out and find a suit. He would know what one looked like when he saw it. Perhaps he could ask his frequent vendor, that guy seemed to know a lot.

Being polite didn't seem like it would be that tough, especially when Prisca was there. She had a way of calming him down by just being in the room. Though, the thought of someone making Prisca uncomfortable got his tail fur to almost stand on end, causing the tip of the tail to twitch the feeling away. Dress nice, don't start a fight... easy right?

"Of course. It should not be a problem." He could always catch the guy outside of the party if he got too out of hand. Or teleport him to a lake... The thought caused his tail to cease its twitching.

Pushing the thought from his mind, not entirely, he watched her prepare the tea. "Should I meet you here or elsewhere?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 08, 2011 7:52 pm

Prisca dropped a bag of peppermint tea into her mug before sitting down at the table. Noticing Xero hadn't moved besides a little tail twitching, she gestured with her hand to the chair opposite her, pushing both the mug and container of tea towards him.

Offering the man one of her usual smiles, she drained the bag of what tea she wanted before bringing a napkin over to her to lay the waterlogged packet on. "I trust you, Xero," the woman told him, picking up the small cream dish to lighten her tea to a color she preferred. At least, she trusted Xero. The Mewtwo side was another story. Every single one of them was like a ticking time bomb that could go off at any moment and make a crater of whatever house they were currently standing in.

"Here, would be fine. It would take me longer to get ready. Will you be able to find your things on your own?"

Xero blinked a moment before realizing he had not come fully into the kitchen. Quietly he walked forward and took his seat at the indicated chair. That probably wasn't the right thing to do, he'll have to remember to pay more attention to his actions during this party.

He took his mug carefully, deciding to try the peppermint tea as well. He couldn't say why, she liked it for whatever reason. It had to be good.

"Thank you, I-"
Xero was not found of making unsure promises. People should be bound by their words. But he had to at least giver peace of mind that she would not have to deal with his temper this time. "-Will not betray that trust Ms. Prisca."

He looked at the cover of the mint tea a moment. Mint, not like a breath mint right? Xero vaguely remembered the scientists exchanging breath mints in some strange ritual after a quick meal....

"I will be fine, thank you." He looked back at Prisca. Suddenly he found himself wondering what formal wear would look on her. Certainly nothing the scientists wore. He saw Trinity wear a long skirt and long sleeve blouse once. ... He caught himself before thinking way to far into this. "What time should I meet you here?" A good question to distract the mind...
