Saber Pendragon They can have litters as big as 20? That's a lot of babies. I've never seen newborn rats before. If I had been shown that second picture without being told what it was I don't think I would have said it's a rat. When they have litters bigger than 12 they tend to make two nests so they can feed all babies. Oh? what would you have thought they were?

I don't know what I would have though it was, depending on the angle of the photo and how much of the rat were showing I may have thought it was just some weird fleshy growth on your hand. It also sort of reminds me of that weird human-dog hybrid sculpture without ears.

Lol!! Haven't thought of that! They're slowly getting their fur, they are fuzzier every day. I've been looking at them and I noticed the darker markings on some looker grayer than on others. Its looking like none will have mommies coloring.

I just saw the dog-thing picture recently so it popped into my head. ^^; It sounds like they are getting cute, will you be posting more photos so we can see them grow?

Well,as an apology for taking so long again to update, instead of just pictures, I've included a video! They did not appreciate me pulling the towel out from over them. Aaaand, mommy feeding her babies!

I let Missy Boo out with the babies and decided to let out her 'sisters'. They enjoyed their strawberries and playing all over me XD THey were out for a good 2-3 hours. As you can see in the video Missy Boo kept grabbing a snack and climbing into the box the babies were in to eat half of it.

Why was she only eating half of them? Was she leaving what was left for her babies?

No they arnt quite to that stage yet. i think she was trying to keep them from her sisters. None of our rats tend to eat anothers left overs, less its a really really good treat.

I didn't think the babies were old enough to eat them, I just thought it was funny she'd leave them in there with them.
