[ M i s s ◆ F i o n a ◆ F o o l s f o o t ] Fiona heard Phillipe and sighed, not raising her eyes from the book. She had thought being on top of a haunted bus would at least give her some escape from the other inhabitants in the carnival.
'If I were tryin' te scare ye, ye'd 'ave a knife at ye throat,' she called back.
Fiona would have ignored the boy after that, if of course, it wasn't for the white bird that sat on her book. It sat, watching her as she watched it, tilted its head and exploded in a could of confetti. Sticky confetti?! Why on earth did it have to be sticky confetti - especially confetti that still smelt of bird bits?
'Gah! Phillipe! Get yer skinny arse o'er 'ere affore I mash it te mince meat!'
Fiona wanted to rip the boy's head off. Oh no, she couldn't do that. She couldn't kill precious Phillipe... or any of the others. She had to be on best behaviour. Still, she was going to grab him by the hair and shove him into the damned bus, then lock the door and get back to her reading. If anything happened, it wasn't her fault.
Besides, she didn't intend to leave him in long. He'd only be in there long enough for him to understand what happened when people pissed her off. It was better for him to learn now than by doing something when more people were around to see it. First, she was going to use one of her hanky chains to wipe gunk off herself and her newly acquired book.
The magician pulled a handkerchief from her sleeve, followed by another, followed by yet another. She kept going until she had a length of coloured cloth long enough to rub down her face, afro and chest. The hankies stuck. Each one of them managed to somehow attach itself to her chest and face. Knowing how inevitable it was, she pulled on it anyway. The foul confetti stretched like rubber between her face and the material, springing back onto her face when she let go.
In an icy cold voice, the woman said, 'Boy, ye'd better not move. Fer when I ge' this stuff offer me, I'll be takin' te ye hide.'
She rolled the material around her arm and wrist, giving it one last yank. Fiona screamed as the material was wrenched free from her face, but alas, her top decidedly came with it. She was now topless: topless with a yellow afro and sticky confetti in her hair. Boy, did she look a right sight. Especially with a face beetroot red with anger.
That, however, was not enough to deter the furious magician from what she was about to do to Phillipe.
Fiona wrapped several layers of handkerchiefs around her chest, put the soiled book down and jumped off the bus. Given her previous injury, it wasn't a smart idea. Fiona hissed as she landed. The landing jarred her back, causing pain to shoot up her spine and make her lose balance. She had to stop a moment and roll her shoulders to ease her discomfort. She then looked around for her victim.
Now was not a good time to be Phillipe." This used to be a Funhouse, but now it's full of evil clowns... "

Everything had gone better than expected! Or worse, in Philippe's case. Demon watched snickering as he stumbled backwards into a stack of birdcages. Only one broke open, but that was enough to send the young man into another panic. Now, with Philippe fumbling to catch the birds, Demon was unable to suppress her laughter. She clutched her sides and laughed in a manner that made her imp-like mask seem that much more appropriate.
As if all of this wasn't enough, a loud pop followed by Fiona's angry shouts only sent the trickster into another fit of laughter. Two birds with one stone- what an accomplishment! Managing to get her laughter under control, Demon hopped over the crates and landed very suddenly in front of the boy- all in one easy movement, "Boo!"
She bit her lip to hold back yet another fit of laughter, and instead lifted her mask so that she might more easily give the boy a friendly word of advice, "You know- if it were me, I'd probably be wanting to run right about now. Miss Foolsfoot doesn't sound too happy."
That was an understatement. Fiona was usually angry, but she sounded especially furious now that her afternoon had likely been ruined. Demon had enough sense to disappear when the woman was in this sort of mood, but Philippe still seemed too panicked to realize what was going on.
With a humored smile, Demon turned her eyes toward the bird in his hands, and let out another giggle, "I don't think that's going to protect you."
It was almost as if you could hear Fiona steadily storming her way toward them, so Demon pulled the mask back over her face, and adopted a more urgent tone, "Well? Are you just going to wait here and let her beat your head in? Run!"
With that said, Demon hoisted herself to the top of the stacked crates. Sitting just out of reach with her legs crossed, her mischievous smirk was concealed by the crazed grin of her second face- now looking down at the boy expectantly as she waited for him to make his escape. Here she had the perfect view, and with the magician's luck, she would also be safe.

╔═══▫▪═══ Zerah ✦ März------------------------------------ ◄ März had been rather immobile as he leaned against the tent, which housed the carnival's collection of oddities. He had found the place to be rather quiet during the day since most of the visitors they had, were busy down the main alley of the circus. It was such a nice day too, that the Anthroparion decided to read outside. Shame his normal chair couldn’t be dragged outside, so he had to deal with leaning up against the side of the tent.
Alas this blissfully quiet day, had to be interrupted by three others. One person had let out a rather loud snarl, which ended up scaring the second person. Who with his two left feet, ended up stumbling into some Dove cages. That was just lovely, though from the sound of a cage hitting the ground and the flutter of wings told März that Phillipe had been unsuccessful in his attempt to not create a problem. From the previous sounds, it seemed as if Phillipe had dropped a dove cage or the ilk, and the resulting pop and Fiona’s shouting might’ve confirmed such. Though the biggest indicator for the Anthroparion was when one bird landed on his shoulder and cooed softly. This caused him to finally shift position to look at the bird, which just looked right back at him.
However, unlike the feisty Fiona, the bird didn’t explode. In fact, another one landed on his other shoulder, and began cooing softly. Well it seemed as if he inadvertently helped, Phillipe which was just fine with him, though he wished that not every bird landed on him. He also attributed this to his statue like nature whenever he was reading, but as he began walking toward the little group the last bird landed on his head and began cooing as well.
”Perfect.”
As he drew closer, and Fiona's threats became more clear, Zerah could only shake his head as he saw an immobile Phillipe. He could've said something about fleeing for his life, but the other clown within the carnival summed up his sentiment quite well with her words as she sat top some crates. Crates which he leaned up against as he came to a stop. The doves not even bothered by his movements, resumed their cooing once his shifting had settled down. "Demon's right, Silly Filly. You best be off, before Bumbles gets down from the bus. Unless you're some kind of masochist."
With the additional warning given to Phillipe, Zerah tiled his head to look at the female trickster before speaking again in a quieter voice. Which might've been a little hard to hear, what with the doves cooing while still perched on the Anthroparion. [ M i s s ◆ F i o n a ◆ F o o l s f o o t ] After pulling a novelty throwing knife from each of her sleeves, Fiona did not waste another moment. She was off. She raced after Philippe as though he'd stolen one of her prized books... or humiliated her in front of the other performers.
It was just Philippe's luck, really. If it hadn't been for Demon and Zerah turning up to see the impromptu show, she might have let him off with a kick to the nuts and an afternoon in the Bus of Horrors. Instead, she was going to beat him until his screams echoed through the grounds. She almost gained on his head start when he stumbled, rolled and scrambled back to his feet. She could almost taste his sweat in her mouth as she huffed behind him. The kid was running for his life.
Philippe skidded around the corner of a tent and Fiona followed. She wasn't as lucky however. A puddle - which hadn't been there when Philippe ran past - caught her by the foot and stuck. The speed of her halt yanked her back and legs with whiplash. Her knives skidded across the ground and there was an unproportionally loud squelching noise. Fiona fell flat on her face into - you guessed it - more confetti. Fiona roared in frustration and ponded her hands against the ground. They too squelched into the wet confetti, splattering not only the ground around the puddle but her hair and the only clean place left on her: her back.
'BUMBLEBEE!'
Fiona's luck just got worse.
The sodden magician raised herself warily to her feet, scooping up one of the knives as she did. It was slimy in her hand and she was sure it would slip and slide out of her hand if she tried to use it. She stood ready for a fight but did not make a move. This was not a battle she could win.
''And 'im over, C-'unt.'
Fiona knew he wouldn't but she was going to make a show of this. So long as Carlisle didn't notice the damage to his coach she would be fine.
'I don't think I will,' he said, deliberately eyeing up and down the mess that could be called Fiona.
'Yes ye will. 'E owes me summit.'
'No.' Carlisle smirked, knowing how much Fiona hated backing down. 'You're going to clean off your -' he made a show of eyeing her up and down again, 'mistakes and Philippe will come with me.'
Fiona didn't move, would not move. She still had her knife; she could at least strike Philippe before leaving. She sidestepped Carlisle and made a grab for the boy's shirt. The shirt tore as Carlisle moved himself between the magician and the teen. Fiona only just had time to block a counter-strike to her back. It was lucky. She didn't think her back could deal with much more. Still, she made a half-hearted stab the the arm protecting Philippe. It cut through the ring master's sleeve and scratched the skin. Carlisle ignored it.
Carlisle did the only kind thing he could in the situation: he didn't strike back. He'd heard of Fiona's fall and knew just as well as she that she couldn't fight him in her condition. Instead, he lowered his voice so only he, Fiona and Philippe would hear. 'Look around, Fiona. People are staring at you. Soon the whole circus will know you made a fool of yourself. Do yourself a favour and get out of here before I get mad.'
EDIT: I forgot to mention what happened when Fifi attacked Carlisle: last line, penultimate paragraph." This used to be a Funhouse, but now it's full of evil clowns... "

aŋasŧasía cɧrísŧøpɧ Ƚa Ðaŋcɛusɛ Έxøŧíquɛ Sɛʃɛŋa She walked with infinite grace, the steps of an angel.
And yet, she never knew it...
Anastasia Christoph. The dancer. The extraordinary Petite Danseuse of the Carnival of Mirrors, pranced around her tent. It was small, but so was she. Therefore, it was perfect. With all of her prized possessions scattered in various places, she smiled brightly.
One of these possessions, in particular, caught her eye and she made her way towards it.
A picture frame, with the appropriate picture neatly placed inside. The frame was simple, yet, somehow, still elegant. The small designs of nonsense made the girl smile, as she couldn't care less about the frame; the contents we're much more precious.
It held the picture of a man, looking strong at the age of sixty-four, with a lion to his right, and a small, happy little girl to his left. The girl was hugging his leg, ever so tightly, smiling, as if everything in the world was right and pure. Because in her mind, it was.
Anastasia set the picture down on her dresser gently, as a small, sad smile slipped on her face.
"O mon père, tu me manques encore..." she whispered softly to the photograph, as if it had ears to hear her.
But, of course, that would be absurd.
Yet she still silently wished it could. If only...
After a moment of silence, the girl regained her smile and her sunny disposition. She skipped to one of her various drawers and pulled out a puffed, black tulle skirt, with black corset top. She pranced across the area to the other dresser, opened it and pulled out a pair of rainbow colored tights and ballet flats.
When those were on, she dashed toward her jewalery and slipped on about four or five colorful, thick, rainbow arm bangles on each arm. Quickly stringing little rainbow streamers through her hair, she flicked her long locks into a swaying ponytail.
Anastasia observed herself in the antique full size mirror before her. Parfait! she smiled cheerfully at her reflexion, before grabbing a basket filled with lollipops and dancing out of her tent.
There was a bit of a crowd a little ways off from her tent. Curious, the girl tiptoed her way over towards the area. She passed the Lion Tamers tent, making a side note that she would come back later to play with the big cats.
When she was closer to the crowd, she could hear the voice of Carlisle, the Ringmaster, and Fiona, the tricky magician. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Philippe, with his frightened face.
Although she hated to see Philippe so frightened, she wouldn't interfer with Carlisle and Fiona's discussion. So, she skipped away, hoping for the best.
Reaching an area with children around, she began a little dance for them. The little ones watched her in awe, loving the colors of her tights and hair. The dancer poised herself on one foot, extending the other with ease as she gently handed one of the little girls a lollipop. "Sweets for tha litle' sweeties!" she squealed, her French dialect and accent coming in strong, as she kissed the little girl on the nose lightly. "...dance, dance smile, to wash those sad feelings away..." "...i'll just smile, laugh, smile, cus i don't understand them anyway..." The only thing that alerted Demon to Zerah's arrival was the gentle cooing of doves. The birds had chosen him as their new perch. While he didn't seem entirely distressed by the fact, it still enticed a quiet giggle from the trickster.
When Zerah spoke, repeating in essence what Demon had suggested only a moment before, Philippe finally seemed to come to his senses. The boy scrambled to his feet just as Fiona came into view. Philippe took off, and Fiona charged after him, blades in each of his hands, "Well I hope she doesn't kill him."
The lack of compassion in that statement made it clear Demon really didn't care as much as she might have- considering this was all her fault. In fact the words were almost humorous, as if it would be an interesting turn of events if the magician did get her bare hands around Philippe's throat.
Quiet words from Zerah caught her attention, and she regarded him for a quiet moment behind the mask before letting out a laugh. The sudden noise caused the birds perched atop him to flap their wings in momentary distress before settling once again.
"Don't be silly- would I do something that cruel?" The girl's question was filled with mischief and, and as if that weren't enough to answer it, she hopped from the crates, and landed easily on Zerah's shoulders. The birds, of course, scattered- but she paid no mind as she brought herself to a handstand on the Anthroparion's head, "There's nothing wrong with a little practical joke. I can't help it if he got so easily spooked."
With that said, the girl dropped from her handstand, now sitting on Zerah's shoulders. With one hand, she pointed dramatically in the direction Philippe and Fiona had run, before issuing an order to the man beneath her, "Now! Let's go see Fiona beat the kid up. Off we go!"

"You're weak, quite pathetic..." Soft footsteps upon the dirt let no human be alerted to the presence of the possibly the most sadistic killer in the land. Samara came up behind a crowd, and let a long shining blade fall from its sheath as she stepped into the insect-like creatures. It was rather fun to sneak up on them, watching their faces turn to that of pure terror as their muscles jerked from shock. It was always the same thing... These fools came here to get entertainment, and when they got to Samara... They seemed to want to be anywhere but there. The cowards, it was only a little bit of blood... She killed the elite few who got the pleasure of making it to the carnival late.
Samara touched a woman's nape with her blade from behind, causing her to jerk and cut herself. The knife thrower smiled sinisterly, and licked the blood of her blade, and pulled the woman along with her. "Ladies and gents! This kind woman has volunteered to be my first victim! Lets give her a round of applause!" The woman tried to tug on her arm, but with Samara's strength it looked as if she complied completely, save for the terrified expression on her face. The drooling fools cheered, hoping to see a little bloodshed, not noticing the thin trickle of incarnadine liquid that had already started to form on the woman's neck.
Once on stage, Samara roughly pushed her "volunteer" towards the spinning wheel. She started to beg then, "P-please let me go! I was only coming here in search of my brother. He was last seen at your act..." The knife thrower's lips twisted into a sinister grin, and she got to close for comfort, placing her lips by the girl's ear, "Oh? Was he? Then you can stop looking... I know where he's at." As she spoke she took a dagger, and ran it down the woman's arm. She shivered, but remember her brother, "D-do you? Please tell me where he's at!" Samara pulled away just slightly, giving the girl a look of distaste. Was this fool really that important?
She drove the blade into her victim's hand, and cocked her head at the scream. Samara turned to the crowd, lifting her hands above her, "Do you want to see more?!" They cheered ravenously, thinking it was all an act. The knife thrower really loathed their ignorance. It was much more soothing when they had fear struck faces. Though... It was all too fun to get them to cheer for the demise of their fellow humans. Such filthy creatures. Samara turned back to the girl, who was by now whimpering, and pulling at the dagger lodged into her soft flesh.
She grinned again, and grasped her other hand, and pinned it down with another dagger. The girl let out another pained scream as the crowed cheered like buffoons. The knife thrower licked her hand clear of blood, got close to the girl once more. "Sh... Now, didn't you say you wanted to know where your brother was?" The girl's lips quivered as she nodded. Samara grabbed her by the throat, "I can't hear your head nodding! Answer me properly!" She hissed, her victim squeaked in terror, "I'm sorry! Yes! Yes, I want you know where my brother is!" Samara smiled evilly, "Ah, good girl... Now... I'll tell you where you brother is at, but... You've got to do something for me..." The girl went to nod, but stopped herself almost instantly, "Okay, I'll do it." The knife thrower frowned, and slapped the girl across the face, earning a few giggles from the crowd, "You don't even know the deal I'm going to purpose. Don't be so quick to agree!"
The girl cried out, and shook violently. Samara had the perfect "deal" to place upon the sniffling fool. Her brother was missing, so she couldn't turn her down... Well, actually her brother wasn't missing, but dead. If he was last seen at Samara's act, then the boy had perished in it.... It was really quite simple, and the knife thrower was wondering why this girl hadn't figured that out yet. The woman choked a sob before answering Samara, "Okay, what is your deal?"
Had it been possible for a smile to get more sinister, Samara's would have. She slithered over to the girl, and pressed their bodies together, just to make the girl shiver. As she spoke, she strapped the girl in, which wasn't all too necessary with her hands being bound to the wheel. "Now... Listen closely, for I won't say it again. To find out where your brother is... You must go through my act, and not let a single scream pass those pretty lips of yours. Do you understand? Then after the act... I'll tell you where he is." The girl seemed hesitant to answer, but the knife thrower was quickly at her throat, "Quickly now! I'm very impatient, and I have a hungry crowd waiting... Plus, do you want to make you brother wait any longer?" The girl jumped, "Yes, of course I'll do it! Anything for my brother..."
Samara didn't need another word, she stepped away, and looked to the crowd, "Are you ready?!" They cheered with idiotic joy. The knife thrower pulled a few blades from the sheaths on her thigh, and pointed to the girl, "She is my target! Don't worry folks this is merely an act!" A man from the crowd cheered loudly, whistling with excitement. For a brief moment, Samara wondered if these humans were really any better than she with a blood lust that over powered most of her thoughts. However, she quickly dismissed the pesky assumptions.
The knife thrower turned to her victim and smiled evilly. She held up a blade, and threw it with quite some strength... When it hit the girl's arm, Samara commanded it to dive deeply into the bone. The girl bit her lip to prevent from crying out. That was a remarkable show of endurance! Samara threw another blade at low speed, letting it linger in the girl's flesh before it completely sank into her thigh. A small peep escaped her lips, but it wasn't a scream... However, the knife thrower was just getting started. "Remarkable isn't she?!" Samara had cheered to the audience before her. They responded the same way they always had, with slobbering excitement.
The knife thrower pulled out another dagger, and threw it into the girl's collarbone, the pained expression cued her this one was breaking... Samara picked up two daggers this time, sending one into the girl's shin, and the other into her side... As soon as the blade dug into the girl's shin bone, a loud scream fell from her mouth. Just what the murderous woman wanted. "Ah... It seems you failed." With that Samara picked up a long sword. With a twisting motion, she threw it where the girl's navel once was... Making her two. She turned to the crowd, and bowed as the curtain closed on her. The female sneered at the body, "Weak human, eat up loves...." She hissed, and with those words her blades consumed the woman's body. She grabbed grabbed them once they were done, and started to travel the carnival. Something was going to happen tonight, Samara could smell it, and it was a wonder scent!

╔═══▫▪═══ Zerah ✦ März------------------------------------ ◄ The Anthroparion was definitely a little surprised when Demon, played innocent. It was quite funny, since she could definitely lie better...though she might say otherwise. However, he did have admire her grace and nimbleness. Which became apparent once more as she did a handstand on his shoulders, and head. "I don't know, Demon...it definitely seems like something you'd do." Of course, he had to agree with her next sentiment about practical jokes. One could always enjoy a joke such as that, though he might've suggested different company then Fiona...or Samara for that matter. Strange girl, seemed liked she'd do well in a grind house movie or something, instead of an actual carnival.
However, as Roxanne shifted about on his shoulders, before finally sitting on his shoulders. They must've been a sight, one clown atop of the other...pointing in some direction as if the clown on the bottom was her mount, and for the most part, Zerah didn't mind carrying Demon around. As you desire, my liege!" With that said, the anthroparion began running in the direction Phillipe and Fiona had gone. His footfalls producing slight vibrations as he slowed down to round the corner, which was just in time for Demon and her trusty steed to encounter Carlisle saving Phillipe. This brought a smirk to the golem's disguised features, as he came to a stop several feet away from the group.
"Aww, looks like we missed out on the scuffle my liege."While it was quite obvious that they had missed it any chance of Phillipe getting a good whack, the appearance of mud on Fiona's outfit suggested she might've slipped in a puddle...kind of like the one she was standing in. Tilting his head slightly upwards, he glanced at Demon, before whispering; "Anywhere else you'd like to go my liege?"

[ M i s s ◆ F i o n a ◆ F o o l s f o o t ] There was a crowd surrounding the trio. It stayed well back in case Fiona did something violent but the people still stood with interest. Most of them were probably looking forward to the ring master finally knocking some sense into the vicious magician. If she was out of action for long enough she wouldn't have the strength to lash out at them... hopefully.
It was obvious Fiona would not back down, not with such a large crowd around her. It was beginning to frustrate Carlisle. A sneer began to crawl across his face as he stroked his goatee. He silently pulled a single, normal handkerchief from the pocket in his jacket and tied it around his wrist. Fiona still hadn't dropped her defensive position. There was even a glint in her eye and a slight grin to the edge of her mouth. It was as though she wanted to fight him, despite the overwhelming likelihood of her failure.
Why couldn't the girl do as she was told? This struggle for superiority they had going was wearisome, let alone how the circus always wanted to punish her.
'Stupid girl,' he sneered. 'I'd snap you in two before you got a chance to strike me again.'
'I ain't care.'
Carlisle's eyebrows curled into a frown. There was a cloud of smoke and before Fiona had time to react, he was behind her. He stole his hand up her sleeve and searched out for the magic she used to create her hankie chains. He felt her cringe and pull back but he held her tight. Part way through she flipped her knife around, but he didn't even bother defending against it. The gooey confetti meant it slipped from her hand. The only impact was a wet hand against his nice, clean suit.
Carlisle sneered again and went to knock her to her knees. She dodged the attack easily and made to elbow him in the stomach. That was when he found her magic. As she leaned into him he turned out of the way. It was as though they were fighting in slow motion. Fiona's bruised body meant her attacks came much slower than they ought, which meant Carlisle had plenty of time to use her own magic against her.
Fiona only had enough time to balance herself and spin to face her opponent before she found herself bound head-to-toe in her a colourful hanky chain. She was practically defenceless! Still she didn't back down. Her head was the only part not wrapped tighter than an Egyptian mummy but she still glared a challenge at Carlisle.
'Why do you do this?!' the ring master snapped. 'Why do you always have to oppose me?'
Fiona's spit landed on his jacket. It was all Carlisle could do not to strike her.
'Get out of here,' he ordered. She would not make him shout. He would not lose his control in front of his people. Instead, Fiona was hurtled backwards by the very magic she used in her shows. Her feet scraped the dirt, leaving a mark from outside the big top to the showers. The magician's back smacked through a cubicle door and struck hard against the back of the shower.
Fiona groaned and arched her back before slumping to the floor. There she was, a colourful, sticky mess crumpled like so many crew members after their drunken after-parties. She closed her eyes and took a deep, sobering breath. She had to work her way out of the wrappings so she could have a hot, calming shower.
◆XXX◆XXX◆ Back at the main tent, the Ring Master looked down at the teen. He didn't even bother addressing the crowd, they'd leave of their own accord if they knew what was good for them.
'Now it's your turn, Philippe. Come with me.'" This used to be a Funhouse, but now it's full of evil clowns... "

Demon wasn't quite prepared when Zerah took off, and so scrambled to steady herself before wrapping her arms around his neck. For a block of stone- albeit a well disguised block of stone, Zerah was fairly quick on his feet. It seemed like no time before they came upon Philippe, Fiona, and.. The ring master!
As Zerah slowed to a stop, he mentioned missing out on the show. He couldn't be more wrong. Demon lifted her mask to get a better view of Carlisle, eager to see the calm strength he so often displayed when Fiona crossed him. It took a moment for the young woman to realize Zerah had whispered something to her, and when it finally registered, she shook her head quickly, "Wait- this ought to be just as interesting."
A grin lit her features as she watched Carlisle easily handle the feisty magician, and she looked the part of a delighted child as Fiona was flung out of sight- Leaving only Carlisle and Philippe inside the dispersing circle of spectators, "Isn't he fantastic?" It was strange how she could show so much admiration for the man, when very few others in the carnival could demand her respect. Not waiting for a response, she decided to answer the question Zerah had quietly asked her moments before.
Slipping off of his shoulders and hopping down beside him, Demon adopted a thoughtful expression before an idea seemed to occur to her, "Let's visit Samara! I don't know about you, but I'd like to test out her aim." It was obvious Demon's idea of target practice may not have been the safest, but this wouldn't have been the first time she had put herself into an unnecessarily dangerous situation just to play a ridiculous prank.
"Come on! You're going to help!" She gave him a grin, before taking off in search of the knife thrower and waving for him to follow.

------------------------------------------- Philippe Fante
The dove nestled in Philippe’s hands was having a great time.
To be honest, it had never got on well with the other doves -puffy show pigeons as far as it was concerned- and it was quite thrilled to find itself suddenly out of range of their preening. Being tame, it had no particular interest in escape. When it was waved around it thought rather naturally that it was being used in a magic trick. It was over the moon! Can you imagine, the grain-fed country-dove from the rafters of the McConnely Livestock Feed Supply--now the center of attention in a circus show! While those snobby pet store birds watched like a jealous audience! The dove was so keen to impress everyone that it had stayed very still in the boy’s hands during the whole affair. Even when he’d clutched it to his chest and took off pell mell towards the nearest exit.
It was a pretty elaborate act, the dove thought, as it watched two of the BigThings doing complicated stuff to one another a few feet away. Its head bobbed as the boy carrying it took a few steps backward to avoid a spray of confetti. It could feel his pulse hammering in his fingers.
As the yellow BigThing went down he squeezed it a little too tightly. It cooed in complaint. The boy looked down. “Oh,” he said anxiously, “Sorry.” His grip relaxed and the dove settled back down in his hands.
Amateur, it thought to itself irritably. Even the best showbirds had to deal with them sometimes.
Philippe was having a rough day. Despite the fact that his bones were still intact he wasn’t sure the fight had come out in his favour.
Honestly, he didn’t know what it was he’d done to make Fiona so angry. He’d only called her name, and perhaps inadvertently flipped a few birds her way. It was Demon who had startled him, after all, and he wasn't sure about the gunk in Fiona's hair but maybe it was a new style. Anyway that wasn't his fault!
Of course, it didn’t make a whit of difference whether or not she was justified in her anger. There were spectators when she’d come up on him, and Demon as well, who loved to goad her on. The overall effect was like dropping a tank of kerosene on a matchstick. The magician would probably have brained him just for the sake of decorum.
Still, she might have even let him off easy if he had simply let her catch him in some quiet area -what the heck, he was pretty sure one of his ribs was a spare anyways- but now that Carlisle had made a fool of her in public, his fate was bound to be much, much worse. It was his awful luck that he had almost run the ringleader over during his escape. Now she was humiliated and Philippe had the sinking feeling that she was going to blame him.
He regarded the fallen Fiona the way one regards a time bomb, one without a blue wire that could be conveniently snipped to turn the thing off. The tone of Carlisle’s voice did nothing to reassure him.
The ringmaster strode away through the grounds and Philippe followed like a scolded puppy. He thought about running again, but odds were that either Carlisle would find him, or else he’d bump into someone (or something) much worse.
The dove in his hands was radiating wide-eyed smugness; it craned its neck to be most visible above Philippe’s large fingers. This, as far as it was concerned, was the big ticket! None of the other birds would dare tease it for being one-quarter pheasant after this.

Leopold Sidorov
The big cats lounged in the afternoon sun, panting in leonine fashion with their tongues lolling, razor sharp fangs just visible above gently furred lips. Leopold lay among them, enjoying the company of his beloved felines as they blinked sleepily in the sun. The cats weren’t caged or leashed of course; he hated to confine his beloved animals, and allowed them to roam free whenever he could. Of course when the circus was moving that wasn’t possible, but here at rest in the city of Denver, he could finally let them loose. The seven of them sat on the top of a trailer, enjoying the peace and quiet that was so unusual. Even when there weren’t any crowds there was usually shouting of some kind, along with the sounds of building, conversations and other ordinary, everyday sounds. Unfortunately the silence did not last long and was obviously the lull before the storm, because a moment later an almighty “CRASH!” filled the air, along with the indistinct sounds of a woman shouting – from the sound of it, it was probably the ever – violent Foolsfoot. What she had done escaped him, but even as he placed one hand over his head in an effort to shield himself from the racket the noise intensified. Arrow, the largest and most temperamental of Leopold’s tigers raised his head and rumbled, which caused Leopold to sit up and stare in the direction of the disturbance. It sounded as if more had joined the fray - and with an audience, Foolsfoot would get even more feisty and temperamental. Something about her system of honour stated that when she made a fool of herself when someone was watching, they paid for her mistake. Arrow rumbled again, but as Leopold put out a hand to quiet him he got a scorching glare from the male tiger, which caused Sasha in turn to sit up and give a warning growl of her own. In the middle of a fierce stare down between two dangerous big cats that could rip him to shreds at the last moment, Leopold was strangely calm. That was the last of that, then. The boy stood and climbed nimbly down from the caravan, followed by Sasha, then ever so slowly by the rest of his cats, who took just enough time to let him know that they left when they pleased, not because of any signal on the boy’s behalf. The relaxing afternoon that he had planned was ruined, and somebody was probably being beaten to a pulp somewhere in the circus grounds, but he supposed that things could be worse. It could be raining, couldn’t it. After a suspicious glance at the sky and a hurried knock on wood to stave off any bad vibes he may have caused by the thought Leopold lead his heard of cats back through the tents towards the area that was designated for him and his cats. Leopold knew that Sasha would keep a close eye on Arrow, who was prone to wandering at the worst of times, and so he and his fury tide of irate and sleepy cats marched – right into the path of the Demon, and März, that weirdly charismatic stone guy. He had heard a lot about the nature of the stone clown and how he had “belonged” to the old oddities collector. He seemed to have a steady head on his shoulders, no pun intended, but the Demon, on the other hand was quite another story. “Ahhh” He muttered, stopping in his tracks. Big cats flowed around him like a diverted stream, and Leopold looked around, more than slightly distracted. “Do not let me mind you.” He said in his thick Russian accent, getting the phrase wrong as he so often did. You walk a lonely road. Oh! How far you are from home.

╔═══▫▪═══ Zerah ✦ März------------------------------------ ◄ März was in a fit of giggles, as they watched Carlisle handle the rather furious magician...with her own tricks no less! While it was an entertaining sight sometimes, it appeared as if Carlisle was growing thin of such things. If that was true, Zerah could definitely see. What with wasting time that could be used in a more efficient manner, than handling such an uppity girl. Though he had to admit that the magician's talents seemed more suited for performances that him and Demon usually did, and he couldn't help but wonder if she'd be willing to work with them.
It wasn't the first time, this thought popped into the anthroparion's head, though it was the first time that he'd probably take it up with Carlisle later...though the sudden sound of the trickster on his shoulders, caused him to tilt his head up. Allowing hm to spy the momentary doe eyes that she seemed to display whenever she spoke admiration of Carlisle. Before Zerah could bring attention to her doe-like fawning, she climbed off of him before answering his previous question. Apparently they were going to see Samara next...what fun. If the sarcasm wasn't evident, it would be when they got there and he pulled out the previous book he was reading.
Simply put, he wasn't fond of Samara's company. She seemed to fit what a hedonist is, too well...that and the fact that the girl seemed to be ruled by her emotions. He was okay with the hedonist aspect, for the most part, but emotion never appealed to him as it did for most people. Especially those who revel in it. Maybe it was just what he is, that made him be more of a rational being, but as he took off after his performance partner, he put those thoughts away. They were for another time.
Finally catching up to the girl, Zerah smirked as he remembered her words. "I'm going to help? Well I don't know if I can help, besides those doe eyes you make could certainly throw her off guard." März glanced around looking for possible places they could find her, all of which seemed to end in a dark alley of the circus...which struck him as odd. He didn't think that there could be dark alleys in the middle of day, but one look at one of the bigger tents reminded him of certain possibilities. Having no real idea on where she might be, Zerah glanced back at the trickster. "...So you have any idea where she might be, or are we going to take the entire day looking for her?"► --------------------------------------- Anthroparion Clown ═══▪▫═══╝

aŋasŧasía cɧrísŧøpɧ Ƚa Ðaŋcɛusɛ Έxøŧíquɛ Sɛʃɛŋa The basket was bare, but her heart was content.
All of the children that desired something sweet were granted just that. They, then, ran off to their parents to bless them with the immense sugar rush that was on its way.
Anastasia pranced merrily past the various colors and sounds and attractions of the carnival. It was always so bright and alive. That's why she loved it so. She spin and twirled her way over toward the performance tent, where her act was to start sometime soon.
Being so filled with joy apparently clouded the little dancers' mind. So much, in fact that she wasn't paying attention to where she was going and skipped straight into something hard and sturdy.
"Aie!" she exclaimed, falling promptly on her bottom. She whined a bit for a moment, before looking up at what she'd so stupidly ran into, or whom for that matter.
Upon seeing März towering over her, as everyone seemed to do, Anastasia gave a quick, but audible "Eep!" before shuddering out a embarrassing apology, in her broken English.
"I-I am soo sorree! I shuud' hav' ben w-watc-watching me bett'r " her words came out in a jumble, but were understandable to a basic degree.
Noticing she was still on the ground, the girl picked herself up with speed, hoping not to doom herself with anymore embarrassment for the time being, while cursing her awkwardness in her thoughts. Stupide, stupide! Je suis une fille maladroite!
Before she could regain her composure, she saw the other two figures standing near the tall, stone man.
Seeing Leopold, surrounded by large cats, wasn't much of a scare, due to the fact that she'd sometimes sit with the older cats that belonged to the old lion tamer, bless his heart; the few that no longer performed, but weren't yet sickly. But tricky Demon was a whole other story entirely. J'espère qu'elle ne joue pas un autre truc sur moi... she hoped, silently.
"A-ah, De'mon! An' Leopol too. Wher' al' are you to bea'heading?" she smiled quickly, trying to make polite conversation and erase her clumsy moment, while her heavy accent morphed the sounds of their names.
"...dance, dance smile, to wash those sad feelings away..." "...i'll just smile, laugh, smile, cus i don't understand them anyway..." Note!Aie! - Ouch!Stupide, stupide! Je suis une fille maladroite! - Stupid, stupid! I am such a clumsy girl!J'espère qu'elle ne joue pas un autre truc sur moi ... - I hope she does not play another trick on me..

[ M i s s ◆ F i o n a ◆ F o o l s f o o t ] Fiona closed her eyes and reached for her magic. Getting rid of the hankie chain wasn't as simple as snapping her fingers, not this time. It had been her magic that was used for the trick but it hadn't been her who cast it. Nor was it like blocking or manipulating a current trick, which was simple for her. No, she had to retract the magic of an already performed trick. Worse yet, it was one pulled by the strongest magician she had ever countered, not that she knew the real source. Fiona was strong, but Carlisle was stronger. Everywhere people went, they could feel his presence looming over them. To Fiona, it was suffocating! She thought the magical pressure surrounding the circus was caused by the ring master. She had no idea about the entity controlling everything the Carnival of Mirrors did.
So here Fiona was, leaning up against a bathroom wall and unravelling the knots Carlisle had tied her in, attempting the most draining thing she knew: reversing another's magic. The end of the brightly coloured chain slithered across her body until it made its way to her sleeve, where it disappeared into nothingness. Slowly the entire chain was moving across her body like a never-ending snake until finally the last handkerchief disappeared up her sleeve.
The magician rubbed her eyes and gingerly pushed herself up the wall and onto her feet. She locked the door, stripped off and began checking over each and every one of her injuries. Nothing was broken but she'd pulled the muscles in her left shoulder and her back was, well, it was going to take a while to turn back to its normal shade.
's**t,' she hissed. 's**t!'
Fiona punched both hands into the wall and leaned forward. She pressed her forehead against the wall and closed her eyes. After a few deep breaths she turned on the taps as hot as they would go, allowing the sensation to relax her injured muscles. Steam filled the female shower block. Once she was content they'd relaxed enough, she began stretching and working each and every injury out as much as she could. She bent forward so that her head was between her knees then slowly arches back until her hand touched the floor behind her feet. That was about all the room the small cubicle had so she stood back up. If she ended up using all the hot water, so be it." This used to be a Funhouse, but now it's full of evil clowns... "
It's time to start the countdown. -------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------------------★I'm gonna вυяи it down, down, down..."
