CPL Fredrick David David dropped his cigarette and stepped on it as he came to attention. Once the Lieutenant set the men at their ease and urged them to get closer he lingered, letting the PFC's and Privates move in first. He would stand in the back with the other NCO's and make sure no one disrespected the officer by acting like a fool.

Ian McNaulty Ian re-shouldered his gear and waited to hear what his mission was going to be. He was finally going to be able to do what he waited and trained so long for.

1st LT. Johnathan Carolin Carolin nodded at the Corporal as he sat down with the rest of the Marines, "Alright Marines, here's the word. We're loading trucks in about five minutes that will take us down to the dockyards. From there we'll load up on the ships. Follow your stick leaders, and stow your gear by our assigned racks. After that it's smooth sailing for about a week or so and we'll be hitting our target. Once we're underway and I get the word from the higher ups, I'll let you know what that target is." He looked around, "Are there any questions?" He knew his men were nervous, most had never seen combat before, but they handled themselves well.

Ian McNaulty "no sir." Ian responded by rote, he was curious as to where he would be headed but those answers would come in time until that point as always he would just wait.

CPL Fredrick David David stood in the back and shook his head no watching the Marines infront of him. While he was only a Corporal he knew that he was one of the most experienced here, and as such he tended to linger with the senior enlisted personnel, with the exception of his friends among the lower ranks.

Platoon Sergeant Michael Lynch "All right Marines. When I call your name go and form up next to your stick leader." Lynch looked down at his clipboard, "In Corporal David's stick is: Corporal David, Corporal Gardner, Privates Addison, McNaulty, McLoughlin, Redding, and ____________ (future posters). All of you grab your s*it and stand over there." Lynch pointed a few yards away as he prepared to call the next group.

CPL Fredrick David David grabbed his gear and went to stand where Lynch had pointed. He set his gear down and stood behind it waiting for his other Marines to form up behind and beside him.

Ian McNaulty Ian shouldered his gear and walked over to the truck with the rest of the men, and waited to climb into the truck and head down to the docs. "well, David you ready to put the Japs on the receiving end?" he asked his friend more for conversation than anything else. He already knew the answer.

CPL Fredrick David David nodded looking at McNaulty, "Indeed I am. 'Bout time those sl*nt eyed b*stards got what they deserve!" He pulled out another cigarette and lit it, hoping that he would have time to finish this one before they had to move again. He looked at Addison who looked anxious, "Relax, kid. You'll be fine."

Ian McNaulty "besides my friend they will try to shoot my head off, before they try to go for you." he said encouragingly. "just keep your head down and try not to present any tempting targets." He told the kid he wondered which of them was actually older, since he had lied about his age to get into the marines, it was not as if he could really ask him.

"Okay, yes you guys keep telling me that I just hope I don't freeze when I'm actually in it. What should we do right now while we are waiting?" Addison said not really sure what to do. He knew the military was hurry up and wait but he felt like he should have been doing something with this down time.

Ian McNaulty "well, tell you what if you freeze I will just grab you by your collar and drag you along with me, deal?" he asked Addison. "Also try not to think so much trust me it DOES not help at all." Ian agreed with Addison the hurry up and wait crap needed to stop. He wanted to be on his way or not at all, just like all the other marines.
