Exactly~ Again, it's one thing in my mind if Green mentions drugs or alcohol and has been "aged up" in the roleplay to, say, 17-24, but another if he's only 10-13 in the roleplay.

Yeah. It's always weird to see really young characters being aged a lot for fanfics. It has to be done really well for me to like it.

It really bugs me when they're disproportionately aged. I'm mean, I'll allow wiggle room depending on the setting, but... Well, examples make it easier.
School setting. Red/Green are teachers, while Gold/Silver are students. Have an age gap greater than 3 years makes sense since... well... 19 year old teachers? Yeahno. On the other hand, if I'm roleplaying a generic pokeverse roleplay and it's nine years later, so Red is aged up to 19... I wouldn't claim Lt. Surge was 23 or Koga was 30 or what not. Because there's no way that Surge was a war veteran at 14 or that Koga had a daughter at, like, 16 or something.
BASICALLY, I like to keep proportions.
>>;;; But then I confuse myself, because it's ANOTHER story if the age-up is prior, like... they don't leave on Pokemon journeys until they're 16...
.... I don't know. =w= Things make sense in my mind, somehow, but they get really confusing in explaining them.

xD Oh, my headcanon's are a confusing mess. Like, if I bump up the age for leaving home, there's still usually "something" in the created gap. Like... You can own a pokemon, but you can't buy pokeballs or challenge gyms without a trainer's license. But if your parents give you a pokeball or you want to just battle with your friends, that's fine. Or there's some mandatory poke-schooling. Or such.

...I never thought about it. I guess I'm the type to want to keep it PG. Although I haven't found anything good between PG and something dark and depressing and death centered. Not much into dark stuff.
Realistic, however, is another story. I wouldn't mind adding a bit of realism to characters and situations.

[Ren The Ryoko] Beowulf Kadmus [Ren The Ryoko] I like to darken it all a little bit. Some drugs and drinking. Mainly with Morty smoking pot and Surge drinking a lot. Especially with Surge stuff. He was in the War after all. Dark stuff. Haha, i laughed when I read this =) something about morty and smoking... and ghost pokemon make me laugh. hehe, >w< thanks I needed that ^_^Morty is such a stoner. Look at him. He's always just so chill. I can see him hanging out with his ghosts, spokin a bowl or two before a Gym Battle. xD WHAT ABOUT.. you actually think she knows it all..I mean what abra had to evolve same time Ash needed that gym badge.
