2/14/2006 - VALENTINES DAY

Erin got off to a late start that morning. He slept in late, which was alright by him, it would still be a good day. After all, it was Valentines Day, one of the best days of the year. He didn't have a girlfriend, but most of his female aquaintances went all googly-eyed all day long, gushing about boys and candies and flowers. He found this endlessly amusing.

The only thing he didn't look forward to was all the chocolate. Last year, girls kept giving it to him all day long, which wasn't much of a problem except that they wanted to be sure he appreciated it, so they would force feed a piece to him. He didn't want to dissapoint his fans, so he would eat up and put on his most charming smile and tell them how much he loved it... even though inside, it made him want to throw up.

But this year, he was approaching it with a renewed optimism.

Erin showered and got ready for the day with a bigger smile on his face and a brighter song in his head than usual. He just had a good feeling for the day. He took one last glance in his mirror, straightened his goggles on his head, and left his house for the park area, where he knew everyone would be shopping and strolling with their loved ones.

Erin eventually made his way to the plaza, after making a few detours to wish the older ladies in the town-who he sometimes helped with chores-a Happy Valenties Day.

The Plaza really felt wonderful to him. It was full of people walking around, holding hands and exchanging gifts. He decided to go enjoy the sights and smells of the Flower Shoppe, but his path took him past a girl with a lovely smile standing in front of another shop. He didn't notice which shop it was, he just wanted to go talk to the girl... until he noticed what she had pulled out of her basket and offered to him as he strutted towards her: a box of chocolates. "Compliments of the Raime Chocolate Shoppe, where there's a flavour for every kind of love!" she sang with a voice like windchimes.

He wouldn't let such a trifle thing get him down, however. With a twinkle in his eye and a "Thank you very much," he took the small box from her and quickly whisked it away to his back pocket.

"I hope you enjoy them!" She said with a bright smile.

"Oh... heh heh..." He was embarassed to lie to her, but covered his dislike of the product and told her, "Of course I will. If your sweet touch has graced this box, their flavor must have tripled!"

"Aww, that's so adorable!" She giggled and patted his head. "You're so cute!" Ok, so she was a little to much older than him... but she didn't have to be condecending about it, he thought. But, he didn't let his charm slip, and bowed his head to her and took his leave.

2/15/2006 - CHOCOLATE HANGOVER

Klenon: I think I need a doctor. ;_; *pile of chocolate wrappers around him, groans*

*Nate looks at Klenon* D: homygod you ate a lot of chocolate. That pile of wrappers is like a bed !

Erin: *laughs* Here, Kle... You can have mine, too! *tosses him several boxes he got from local girls*

Klenon: *despite being sick, hoards boxes into a pile* ... I'm saving these.. *groans and holds his stomach, laying on his right side so his hair doesn't touch anything*

Erin: "To each his own..." he rolls his eyes, but smiles and moves to help Klenon to his feet, "Come on, buddy, let's go see your brother. I bet he's got some good stomach medicine for you. Mmm mmm."

Tim was there by chance during this moment. He looked at Klenon, who ate a lot of chocolate from yesterday. The evidence of the many wrappers showed how much he hate. "Who the hell would eat that much chocolate?" Tim thought.

Klenon: *gets back to his feet, kicking away some of the wrappers.* It better not taste horrible...

Erin: It'll taste better than yoru stomach feels.

ST PATRICK'S DAY - HUNT FOR FOUR LEAF CLOVER

Erin frolics through the clover fields.

Erin gets down on his hands and knees and scrounges through a clover patch.

Erin sits back on his heels, and sighs, no four leaf clovers among all of these. He found some with two leaves, or one misformed leaf... but those didn't seem lucky at all.

He rolled back off of his heels and onto his back, laying amongst the large patch of tiny plants. He plucked several mindlessly without even looking at them from next to his head. He brought each one up to where he could see it, and then dropped it again after evaluating the leaf count.

Still no four leafers, Erin got up and moved to another patch down the hill from where he was previously. Maybe this one would have one. He got down close and searched through them carefully.

Erin doesn't want to do something else. Erin keeps looking. He's very determined.

Erin searches with renewed fervor, wanting to brink luck to Bob and his computer.

Erin gets frustrated. He takes a deep breath and moves on to the next patch, searching for that lucky shamrock.

Erin wishes that someone was here searching with him. He always felt luckier around his friends.

Just when Erin was starting to think that his luck had run out, something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye. He looked away, but saw nothing, just a glint of sun, maybe? He looked back at the patch of clovers he was last pawing through, and there, right before his eyes, right in the middle, on top of all the others, was a four leaf clover! He was sure he should have seen it before and had no idea how he had missed it before. But, nevertheless, he was incredbly happy he had found it. He plucked it up, along with four regular clovers, and carefully carried them back to his room.

AFTER THE PLUSHIE WORKSHOP

Erin had had enough of the Plushie Workshop for now, and was ready to leave. He picked up his dragon plush and his frog plush and went to head back to his dorm room to put them away. He set them on a shelf above his desk and left the room.

He decided to head outside for a while, but as he passed by the student lounge room, he saw Winston Forrester sitting on a couch in there all by himself. Erin hadn't spoken to him much before, but knew him from being around him at the school. He leaned in through the doorway, "Hey Winston! Whatcha doing up here all by yourself?"

Winston's ears twitched as somebody said his name. He glanced towards them, eyes wide that they knew him.. but he had never seen them.

"Oh, uhm... nothing. I was just half asleep, really." He was absently petting his tail, a nervous habit. "Do.. I know you?" XD;;

Erin laughed at Winston's question, "No, not really. Not yet. I've seen you around, though. My name's Erin. Erin Ravert. I'm not in your class, but we're the same grade." He entered the room and jumped over the back of the couch to sit next to Winston. "How come you didn't go to the Plushie Workshop? It was a lot of fun! Lots of cute girls there!"

User ImageLIBRARY TO LUNCH

Winston was sitting in the library, looking through books for a school project. He gave a sigh, staring off into space since the book he'd been scanning through wasn't very interesting. He tapped his pencil on the pages idly, tail curled around and in his lap to keep it from being stepped on or tripped over behind him.

"Hmm... "

Erin entered the school library, looking to check out a book on paper airplanes, if the library had one. He had heard that such books existed, and thought it would be really fun to make some fancy planes to fly off of the roof of the building.

Inside, he saw a boy who was now beginning to seem familiar to him. He had seen him in passi before, but had never had a chance to strike up a conversation with him. Erin thought this might be a good chance.

He grabbed a random book off of the nearest shelf and went to sit across from the dark haired boy. He set down his book and introduced himelf, "Hi there. Studying hard?" he asked, "I've seen you before. My name's Erin. You're Winston, right?"

Winston glanced up, snapping to attention since he'd almost been half-asleep.

"Oh, yes! I remember." He offered a grin, sitting up and closing his books. "Are you studying for the tests as well?" He looked down at Erin's books, ears lifting slightly as he leaned forward to peek at the cover.

"Yep, I am." he stated with a smile. "I'm studying for..." he looked down at the book he had grabbed to determine the subject. His face paled when he realised he had picked up a copy of Myxomycetes: A Handbook of Slime Molds. "Uhh... biology."

"Oh, interesting..." Win's lip curled slightly at the idea of slime molds as he sat back in his chair. "I'm working on history things, all very boring... really. Do you know what time it is.. I've been in here all morning."

His face turned red as his stomach gave a low rumble. "I uh.. think I need some lunch."

"Yeah, it's almost one o'clock already! I had a late breakfast, so I hadn't eaten lunch yet. I wasn't even really hungry, but now that you mention it, I could use something to eat." He thought a moment, "Do you want to go get something together? We could go to the cafeteria, or we could go out to a restaurant in town."

"Have you been to town to eat?" Winston tilted his head, gathering the books he wanted to take with him together. "I've only been a few times, but never to eat there. I would like to go if you know a nice place."

He tucked the books into his bag and stood, waiting for the other boy.

"Honestly, I have no idea what's good in town. I haven't eaten out in a real restaurant before. But, my parents sent me some spending money, and I thought it would be fun. What do you say we just head into town and see what we can find?" He put his one book on the reshelving cart, and headed for the door.

Winston nodded, hefting his backpack over his shoulder and darted after him.

"Alright!" An adventure into town, to get lunch. Exciting. "So, what sorts of things do you like to eat?" He walked up beside him, hands in his pockets.

"I like most things, I'm not too picky except that I can't stand too much chocolate or pastries. I'd rather have a nice sweet fresh apple than a candy." He smiled at the thought, "but that's not too important for today's lunch. I'm kind of in the mood for a nice warm toasted sandwich. I think I've seen a sandwich shop in town... shall we go see if we can find it?"

"Sandwiches sound delicious," Winston followed along beside him, nodding. "I like deserts... but you're right, it's not very good for a lunchtime snack. How far away do you imagine it is from here?" He glanced back at the school, wondering if they should tell someone... in case something happened. Not that anything would happen- that would be horrible. He blinked, attention snapping back to reality.

A LETTER HOME

April 9th

Dear Mom and Dad,

How are the two of you? I hope you are well. Is dad taking care of that bad shoulder of his? I hope you're not making him work too hard, mom. I'll make sure to come home during the summer to take care of some chores for you, so let him rest, ok?

I'm doing very well, life at the school is good. I'm making quite a few friends, too! Haha, of course I am, I shouldn't even need to tell you that. I bet you're wondering if I have a girlfriend yet, though... and the answer is no. There certainly are lots of really cute girls my age, but I haven't captured any of their hearts (Yet!).

My studies are fine. I think I'll probably end up with all As and maybe some Bs, like maybe in History. It's kinda funny that I like people so much, and can rememeber the names of everyone I meet, but I'm not as good with the historical ones. If I could meet them and talk to them, I could really remember them well, but just listeing to the teacher talk about them, they just don't seem real, so I can't remember them. But, I try my hardest, so I think I'll be OK.

I really love the kites you sent me. I'm going to drag one of my friends off to fly them as soon as there's a good day for it. I think you'll really like Chris if you ever get to meet him, he's really great! He's probably my best friend. He's going to be a pastry chef when he grows up, I think. His stuff is so good, I even like it! I first met him at the spring Strawberry harvest. You wouldn't believe how many strawberries I ate that day!

I really miss you, though. I miss Dad's jokes and Mom's hugs most of all. I also miss home cooked meals, the flowers from the garden, and the stories Jerry, our neighbor, would tell me. There are still plenty of people in Greinell to meet and listen, too, of course, but his are always so much fun. Do you think he really did all that stuff? He says he was an experience monster hunter in his day.

Oh, speaking of which, I've started fighting monsters, too! I fought some monstrous flowers in the school yard. I beat one, but the other one kinda got me hurt... Don't worry, mom! Please! I want to fight some more, and get really good at it! But, I'll be careful not to get too hurt. I promise I'll be really careful. You know I can handle it and I won't take any risks that will be too much for me. So, please don't worry, I want to make you proud.

I learned to sew last week. Crazy, huh? There was a plushie workshop at the school, and I decided to attend. If nothing else, it's a good place to meet girls, right? Just kidding! But, I made a frog and a dragon. They turned out pretty well, if I do say so myself, since I had no idea what I was doing and no one to teach me what to do. I worked together with a girl named Eden to make a bunny, later. It turned out really well, but she was really good at sewing!

Oh, and I also found a lucky four leaf clover on St Patrick's Day! I think it will help me with everything I do from now on. I'm enclosing with this letter one of the three leaf clovers that I found. I'd send yout he four leaf one, but I think if you send good wishes for me through the three leaf clover to my four leaf clover, it will help me even more. So please keep it and think of me!

Can you send me a new scarf? I don't need it right away, since the weather is getting warmer now, but this one is getting really worn out. I think I'll need a new one by fall, so I'd really like another one made by my dear loving mother. Your scarves are the best I've ever seen. I tried looking for one in the shops, but they just didn't seem warm enough.

Thanks, both of you, for all of your love and your support. Even though I'm away at school, I can still feel you caring about me with everything I do. I feel so fortunate to have such wonderful parents. I can't wait to see you again this summer.

Love,

Erin
