Hm... I don't know that I could do that. I'm not terribly good at abstract visualization. I'm usually... a river, or a tide, or maybe an ocean animal, if I need to relax.

Kyoki Marie I wonder, what does yellow or green do, then, if blue and red are relaxing and stimulating? Or what about neutral colors, like beige or such? Neutral colors have been proven to promote relaxation and a feeling of coziness and rest. Honestly, (to me anyway. . .) blue actually makes me feel cold, not relaxed. It reminds me of ice for some reason. I guess, neutral colors are the nice happy medium between the supressant effect of blue and the stimulant effect of red.

Some people can do abstract meditation, others aren't so great at it. It's best to find something that works for you. Aya, I was given a yoga cd by my older sister that taught me to do the same sort of meditation that you're mentoning. Only, I don't use it for sleep, necessarily. I use it to clear energy blockages and slow energy overflows in my personal streams. Right now, I know that I have a few blocks in my first, second and sixth chakras. But that's mostly due to my horomones and sleep schedule changing after having a child! But it certainly helps to do the meditations when I get the chance.

Hn. You know, honestly? THe best healing I've ever found for anything chronic or anything mental? (stress or whatnot) for me... it a sleepover.
It sounds so strange, but going back to high school, with movies and popcorn and nail polish and mud masks and laughing and staying up all night- it totally screws up my sleep schedule, but I swear I feel a million times better when we finish- refreshed and delighted.

I agree. I did it so few times, though. I wish I was younger again so I coiuld do it more often.
