Mother had us all gathered up for a meeting. I found these meetings quite enjoyable. Being with my mother and my siblings was pure love to me. Mother had finally gotten us all to quiet down. We eagerly awaited for mother to start with the meeting. In the mean time, Satsu seemed to be sidetracked. I watched her from the corner of my eyes, wondering what it could be that she had her attention on. Mother had started her speech and was about half through it. That's when Satsu walked off. As curious as i was, i had to stay put and listen to my mother. This talk about flowers was making me happy. Oh, how i loved flowers so.
The meeting was dispatched for mother was over. I went on to play with my siblings. That's when i heard the worried voice of my mother. All time had seemed to stop when we overheard the problem. My heart seemed to stop. Being worried, i wondered over. Satsu was sick. Poor other mother... She may not be my other parent genetically, but physically she was. She loved my biological mother with all her heart. Mother was happy, so i should be to. With a small smile of consideration, i snuggled up to Satsu for a small nap, hoping having me next to her would make her being sick seem a little less painful.
Within a few minuets, i was off in dreamland.

In all honesty, I couldn't have cared less about Mother's lectures. She was always going on about the beauty of nature and how one should respect it and care for it. Blech. Pointless, romantic drivel that my siblings no doubt lapped up as if it were life's blood.
I usually spent my time during these lectures amusing myself with thoughts of hunting and hurting smaller animals, simply staring into space while the images flashed through my mind. That is, unless Satsu accompanied us, which was fairly common. Those times I would focus my attention on the Other Mother, morbidly fascinated by her disturbing appearance; the blood, those strange staring eyes...
No one needed to explain to me that Satsu was not "quite right"; I'd always known there was something fundamentally wrong with her. I would ofttimes fantasize about what might happen should her mental instability manifest itself in more.. violent ways. But, so far, no such luck. Still, there was always the interesting fact that Satsu was quite dead to fall back on.
This latest lesson began in much the same way as usual with Mother talking about the life and beauty that surrounded us. I quickly tuned her out. Unfortunately, very soon after she started speaking, the Other Mother wandered off, to my complete disappointment. Somewhere around the middle of the lecture (I hadn't kept track), Satsu returned and Oh, how tragic! She appeared to have gotten into something that disagreed with her..
With more curiosity than any sense of urgency or concern, I got up from the spot I'd chosen to hunker down and weather Mother's talk and I approached Satsu, studying her and the ill effects whatever she had eaten was having. No doubt it would have been more severe if she weren't a dead thing... That's when Mother said the first interesting thing I'd ever heard her utter: evidently Satsu had eaten a poisonous flower, probably thinking that because it was pretty and most likely smelled nice that it would taste good.
I started paying more attention to Mother's lectures after that...
