Sample of how you might RP this character (3rd person preferably!):
River lay on her bed, her eyes closed tightly as she slept. She tossed and turned a few times as her dreams started to turn from normal to something awful. Her dark hair tangled around her face and she brushed it away sleepily. Tonight she had fallen asleep early and she had been sleeping pretty soundly. But now the nightmares were going to start. Not like that was unusual, River had definitely had her share of nightmares. She had them all the time. She began to toss more frequently and she pulled her blanket tighter around her small body. She was crying in her sleep, tears running down her cheeks, leaving glossy trails. Her Cotton nightdress was damp with sweat that also started to bead on her forehead. Normal people in her dreams were beginning to turn into monsters. They wanted to hurt her. Everyone wanted to hurt her. They ran after her and she tried to get away. She tried to hide but she couldn't. They could always see her, they would find her. Talking, talking always telling her things. Things she didn't want to hear.
She finally woke up, screaming loudly and sobbing. But she couldn't break away form her nightmares. And those people at the acadamy. They'd turned River from a healthy teenage gril who loved to dance and loved life, into some kind of weapon, some being that she couldn't control or even understand. They had warped her mind. They had been able to benefit from her nightmares. They'd taken everything from her. And the dreams were always some memory, something long forgotten but at tthe same time still fresh in her mind.
Her body told her it wasn't real but her mind, broken and disconnected, refused to let the dreaming stop. She could feel the claws on her skin leaving burning scratches that weren't really there. She could hear the horrible growls that no one else could. "Stop it!" She screamed between sobs. "Leave me alone!" River pleaded with the monsters in her mind rather loudly, still screaming as loud as she could without even realizing it. Her voice started to crack and she gave one last shrill scream, the sound cutting through the silence and the darkness.
She collapsed onto the floor, her hands on her head, holding her hair tightly. All she wanted was for the sounds to go away. For the things that haunted her to go away. She just wanted to sleep without a nightmare. It was simple really. River wanted to be normal. She wanted to be able to have dreams that made sense, that weren't frightening. She pulled her knees up to her chest as she sat on the cold floor of her room, sobbing, trying to will the bad dreams away.
