we should have a topic, like if this were a long bus ride....

Hmm, I know!

Does the song Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer encourage the exploitation of others? After all, Rudolph only is given worth by his community after his physical deformity proves to be a benefit. He is never accepted as who he is but is instead celebrated for what he can do. This in turn teaches us to be aware of others in regards to how we can use them to our benefit instead of acknowledging the uniqueness of others as inherently good in its own right.

Indeed, it should be viewed as a commentary on Capitalist society where individuals are only worth something when they provide a certain skill or item into society, and otherwise are abandoned and outcast to the edges of society otherwise.

Or it could be said the same for a Socialist business revolution, with Rudolph providing the new system that is vastly superior and more efficient than the old, bloated Capitalist system.

Changed my mind I agree with what you're saying, first he's made fun of for being different but then as soon as the coolest guy in the north pole likes him and he actually has a purpose, everybody loves him?!?! Talk about telling children their deformities are weird unless someone can use them for a greater purpose, "Oh Jimmy I understand that you have a nub for a hand but that's just weird, I mean what's that going to get you in life? Sorry, you're going to be a reject now because we're all creeped out by your uniqueness."
