Annaika reached out with her wingtip, touching it lightly to Mirmir's chest, " I bet your heart has a lot to say," she whispered softly," A generous heart." She looked up at him, a worn expression in her gaze, " Be selfish with it Mirmir, guard it so it stays that way."
She glanced to the west, watching the sun sink into the sea, the golden disk casting a crimson shadow into the clear, blue waters of the ocean. Something passed behind the jeweled green of her eyes, and she bowed her head, " You should stay away from me Mirmir, I bring nothing but trouble.nThough I will admit, I would have liked to sing and chase butterflies with you."

At first he smiled and blushed a little at her words. "I will cherish it, Im a poet after all, a romantic poet. Just a tad energetic at times." But at her next words he frowned in concern. "I bring my own amount of trouble. I fear nothing, so I fear not what trouble blows in on the wind. My heart sings of a deep friendship as it is now. I will face whatever holds you down so you can fly free forever.", he smiled and nudged her cheek again. Instead of seeing the child laughing within his eyes, a sincere and strong male shown through. He would protect all his friends, new and old. "I will protect you from your own troubles and fears. I promise!", his words were almost stern to get his point across.
He walked a little closer and leaned his head to hers so their eyes had to lock. He'd never been more serious. He'd made fast friends with others before, but something about this connection was different, he felt he needed to protect her from something or someone. He made a promise to himself that he would, no matter what.

The lost look that painted itself across her pale crimson muzzle was almost heartbreaking as she looked at him with her bright eyes, " You don't know what you are saying...I won't hold you to that oath. There is no where for me to fly Mirmir, no where."
When he laid his head against hers, he could feel the fine tremble that slide through her, whatever it was she was scared of, it had her well and truly frightened. " I don't want to see any more hurt because of me."

He smiled with a caring expression. "It is an oath I will keep, if not by you, then for you. I'll old that oath, a promise to myself. I WILL keep you safe. And even if you can't fly freely, your heart can." He could sense her fear, he longed to understand and know why, but it wasn't important to him, none of her past mattered.
"If I get hurt, it will be off my own doing, my stubbornness. I will not take no for an answer. I will not stand to see you in pain, in any form. I will not easily be held down. If it comes to it, I have strong friends, like none have seen." His voice was stern and unwavering, but kind. It was true, though he didn't have many trustworthy friends/acquaintances the ones he did have were strong and wise. From razor sharp spikes/fins, to an icy tongue, and one with supreme battle skills and knowledge. If he asked they would help, but he didn't seek it. He would protect her with all that he was. "This is a bond that can't be broken.", he spoke softly as he nuzzled her cheek in warm reassurance. 'I will protect her.'

Annaika relaxed against him, her head coming around to lay across his shoulder, neck half wrapping around his, her wings tight to her sides as she trembled slightly. " You scarce know me Mirmir, yet you are willing to risk your life." She closed her eyes, nuzzling him gently, " You do have a generous heart."
She let herself be warmed by him, it had been so very long since she had been comforted, and she just wanted to hold onto it for a small while. A soft sigh escaped her, " I'm so very tierd Mimir, of being afraid, of being unsure. I don't even remember the last time I slept for more then a few hours."
Annaika wrapped her neck tighter around him, her voice a bare whisper against his scales, "Would...would you stay with me? Let me sleep...knowing I will be safe, for just one night?"

Mimir's childlike demeanor gave way to his true self. He was a caring soul, with a kind smile and valiant heart. He blushed slightly as she lay her head against his shoulder. He could feel her trembling slightly and he wrapped his own neck around her, holding her tight for protection.
He tightened his embrace to her as she did to him. He smiled softly, though she could not see it. "You can rest peacefully, no need to be afraid or unsure as long as your with me. I will protect you as you sleep. One night, 20, forever, Ill be here to protect you.", his voice kind and caring, but strong. He voice drifted a bit as he thought of what she could be running from, what shadowed her heart in fear. He knew she'd tell him in her own time.
"There is a near by secluded cave, close to the beach that no one knows about. We can go there and you'll be safe. I won't let anything hurt you.", he waited a moment and pulled out of their embrace. He looked down at her and smiled and lead the way to the cave.

Mimir was reward with a grateful and beautiful smile that made the haunted look in her jewel bright eyes fade for now, " Thank you." She whispered to him, stepping back so she could follow where he lead.
As they walked, she let the tip of her wing brush lightly over his back, admiring the way his scales gleamed in the growing moonlight. Annaika knew she should not be here with him, that she should have never spoken to the kind and gentle male, that if she had any sense she'd run the other way, but Mimir drew her. He made her want to see what life could be like if she were not who she was.
He has a generous heart...and I will break it. The thought made her dip her head, and falter along the path he lead her.

Mimir smiled as her wing lay across his back, but then she seemed distant in her eyes and faltered from the path. He stopped and looked down on her with a concerned face. "What's wrong? Why do you think you'll bring me harm? What has your heart scared?"
He stood in front of her and looked down into her jeweled eyes, he saw the fear, the longing, and the loneliness. His eyes showed kindness, caring, and determination. He didn't want her to fear and keep running. Show how he would show her what truly living free was like, somehow he would protect her from her fears, and rescue her from her loneliness.

Annaika looked up at him, biting her lips for a moment, before she stepped into him, her head resting on his shoulder as the sweep of her hair hid her face.
Tears fell like a gentle rain to wet his scales, and she answered him truthfully, " I am scared for you Mimir, I...I am scared of how you are making me feel. I just met you and all I want is stay near your warmth. Its sudden...and with all that has happened, its like a dream. What if I wake up and you're gone?" She kept her head pressed against him, choking back a soft sob.

Mimir felt the tears fall from her eyes. He holds her close as she speaks. He gave a slight smile, a comforting smile. "You need not fear from me or your own emotions Annaika. What has happened is in the past, you have to move forward not back, and if that past meets back up with you, Face it, and defeat it. I can help you fight. I assure you this is no dream, but even if it is and you wake up without me there, look to the sea and Ill be there."
He leaned down and kissed and nuzzled her cheek to further comfort her and reassure her that this was real. They soon came to the cave and settled just inside the mouth so they could still see the stars and the ocean. "Rest Annaika, I will be here when you wake. Nothing can pull me away. Sleep and have sweet dreams." He nuzzled her side urging her to rest, he could tell she hadn't had a good, restful sleep in a long time.

" You look like the sea created you Mimir, like you are her child." She told him softly as he kissed her cheek, another flush painting the bridge of her muzzle.
Annaika let him lead her, content to give her keeping into his claws for this one night. Tomorrow, tomorrow she would think about all this, but for now, rest was what she needed.
She lay down beside him, her wings tucked tight against her body, tail curling over her snout where it lay against his foreleg. Her bright, sad eyes looked up into his, and she stretched her neck out, giving him a shy, gentle kiss before settling back down. " Thank you Mimir, " she whispered.
It took only a few breaths for her body to relax. The petite female looked so very young as she scooted closer to Mimir's warmth, the tumble of her hair falling over her like a living blanket. Worried, anxious lines left her face as she slipped into a deep exhausted sleep, finally feeling safe.

Mimir blushed and smiled at her as she kissed him goodnight. He smiled and nodded at her thanks. He felt her body relax and curl against his own. He was happy she felt safe with him.
He looked out to the ocean and stars and thought back to her word. "A child of the ocean. A child who fears her might, but loves her still....", his words drifted with a calm sadness laced in his words, but he looked back down and Annaika and smiled again and settled down resting his neck over hers. He would protect her, if only for a night, he would protect her. After an hour or so he himself finally drifted to sleep with happy dreams, but one fear came through as it did every night, but try as he might once he wakes the nightmare is beyond his reach. Still he slept, peacefully and happily, protecting her.
