The weasel remains attached to Alces' arm, draining more blood from the already opened wound.
((Alces loses another constitution point, but this does not effect his HP))

Oh, it was good enough. Good enough to nick him in the arm instead of forcing the creature off of him. Brilliant, truly brilliant. He frowned before the pain in his arms forced him back to the task at hand, and he tried to pull away, but it was no use. The weasel truly had him caught, and the only way he was going to get away from it was to try and make it let go.
He brought the dagger to the weasel's neck, and without being able to clearly see where it would go, he aimed it up, hoping to force some kind of release from the jaws of the beast.
His own jaw clenched as he muttered angrily. "Let. Go!"

How kind of it to listen, he thought with an edge of sarcasm, as the weasel finally loosed it's grip and stumbled back in disorientation. He pursed his lips, finally able to stumble back far enough to put a heavy distance between him and his new friend.
His arm looked horrid. He couldn't waste time trying to patch it up just yet however, for the battle was far from over. He pulled the latch that hung at his chest, his other hand bending around to catch the crossbow before it fell. A quick slip of his hand pulled from his pouch one of the long bolts set in an open wooden box, and he put the crossbow against his good arm, while setting the bolt down and arming it within. His quick hands took care of the loading within seconds, and he aimed carefully.
His first time shooting a crossbow with intent to injure. He would be surprised to see the outcome.

He missed the weasel, though this time he managed to keep from hitting himself. The creature eyed him warily, assessing the situation. He could jump on him again, but this time Alces was armed, and that presented a completely different situation.

Somehow, he truly wasn't surprised.
"Oh well, it was my first try after all." He reasoned with himself, though perhaps it was the loss of blood that had him talking to himself in the middle of nowhere while being attacked by a giant weasel. He slipped another bolt out from his pouch, tried aiming a little lower this time so that the bolt didn't soar over the creatures head, and bit his lip before firing.

Before he could loose his second bolt, a huge bird-like creature swooped down out of the air, carrying the weasel away. From the squealing noises he heard afterwards, he could be assured that it wouldn't be bothering him again anytime soon.
The ruins loomed invitingly before him. They would at least offer some small measure of protection in case something else came about before he'd had time to recover. And they were his destination afterall...no matter how dilapidated they seemed.

The crossbow slowly settled back down to his side as the shadow of the bird swooped over them, and giant talons clutched it's prey. His mouth hung open for a moment, watching the great bird fly off, before shaking himself out of his awed silence, and removing the bolt from the crossbow.
"There's always a bigger predator."
He almost felt sorry for the poor weasel, though not -too- sorry. If that bird hadn't come in time, he would likely have shared his fate. Of course, the bird could have grabbed him instead, but it was obvious that the weasel would make for a better meal than he. For this, he was thankful.
"I told you I was stringy!" He called out to the departing (and departed) weasel, before resetting his crossbow behind his back. This movement triggered the muscles in his bitten arm, and a swelling pain shot up from it, reminding him that he was injured. He winced, and held his arm up to take a look. "I'll have to find something to bind that with before long.." He murmured to himself, after a minute of checking just how bad it was. Large teeth produced large holes.
He put his hand to his arm, trying to stop the bleeding, and headed straight for the ruins as quickly as possible. The quicker he was done with this, the quicker he was home.

There was an aura of majesty about the ruins. Something about them made them seem utterly imperial, dignified, and definitely ancient. Broken towers had tumbled into the grass, leaving only stumps of the ancient buildings. The walls had crumbled into haphazard boulders littering what used to be a courtyard.

This was certainly the place he was looking for. As he walked through what once had to be halls and buildings that his ancestors must have often travelled through, he felt a shiver run down his spine. The place was filled with memory, and it's dilapidated state was filled with loss. He could almost hear the voices of the past whispering, their voices echoed off of the walls that tumbled to dust and stone on the ground.
He walked to what he could only assume was near the center of the ruins, looking for some kind of marker or even an inkling as to where he could search for what he was looking for.

Something glittery caught his eye from beneath a bit of rubble. He couldn't see what it was, exactly, but it drew him towards it.

Alces continued his tempered walk, bending every so often to catch a glimpse of what may lie under a rock, or over a crumbling wall. The glimmer along the rubble of the pillar on his right made him stop, and he took a step back, as it caught the light again. He headed for it, falling to his knees and pulling away at the rubble as he dug for whatever it was that had glimmered like that.
