*wraps V in a giant fleece band-aid* cry heart
Small favors.
Heh...you could easily guess how it went. He spent so much money on impulse buys every place we went that we couldn't afford to go back and buy the one coat that was fairly close to what I wanted let alone the one coat that was pretty much perfect but so far out of my budget that it would've had to have been available as a buy one get 1-and-then-some free...
Soooo...I don't have a coat (for the purpose, of course) but I do have 2 pair of socks. xp I don't begrudge him the weights. Those are very useful. Everything else I'm kinda....aww man not only won't I get the coat I probably now won't get the other thing. =(

Well that's...different. +Chuckle.+ Also, FYI, our little friend has multiples of the other item in question. Definitely avoid like the plague. Life in U.S. Midwest means the weather never behaves logically. It's November. There's been frost, freezing rain, a micro growing season, and a little snow here and there. This weekend we're looking at about 65-70 degrees averaged across 6 states (18-21 C if I remember conversions at all) followed by a predicted cold snap that'll probably break trees in half. It has happened before.

Way ahead of you. And to add a warning of my own: DC just dropped 75 tokens. You may never get rid of them all. XD
Man that was a wild season. Trees all exploding. Sounded like Ground 0. Not fun at all. IIRC it made Jim have some nasty combat flashbacks.
Ok, I could probably type for an hour cataloging my outer wear but I won't. ^_^ I will say though that as far as specifically, winter-applicable wear I do have a few coats but they're earmarked.
First, I've 2 cloaks but I don't like to wear those unless it gets below 0. Then I have no choice unless I want my extremities to fall right off.
2nd, I have 2 wool/wool blend winter coats but they're lightweight, light-lined, unpadded, and lack storm cuffs or hoods. 1 is too purply to be red and too red to be burgundy but it's gorgeous and what I consider my fancy going-out coat. xd The other one is the same weight and lining and basic style and that's my not-fancy going out coat. That one could probably replace the one I'm looking to replace now except the lack of hood and the general light weight making it unsuitable for exceptionally cold or windy days.
The coat I'm looking to specifically replace is a hoodless, storm cuffless fleece thing. (Fake fleece, only plastic lambs got shaved to make this coat.) It's my every day, all the time, burn a hole in it, roll around in the yard, do outside work, tear it up, who cares what happens to it coat. H hates this thing. I have to keep a close eye on it, he wants to throw it away so bad.
It was a nice little coat at first, loved the pattern and the buttons but the first time it was washed a lot of the fleece just went away. 2nd time more, 3rd time so "threadbare" it won't keep a breeze out. Meanwhile I would dress in about 18 layers and still jam my little arms through the sleeves so the sleeves themselves are now just hanging on by threads here and there. This was not helped by the fact that I'd wrestle with the dog in it and she's helped the sleeves along quite a bit. And one spot in the rear end region we won't talk about because the laughing gets out of control.
Anyway, I'm about to not have a wreckable coat and I haven't had a heavy winter coat in a long time. The last one quite literally fell apart several years ago and since then we've had mild enough winters I don't need one going out and and I've only had to get my cloaks out once in awhile to take the dogs out while we've been iced in.
Anyways, I told him I could use the cloaks and layers and I was originally just doing some pre-shopping to know what to watch for in March-April but he got all fired up excited about the prospect of getting rid of my fleece coat. In turn I got excited about a couple of coats we saw when we went out. Blah!
You know what I'd love though? (And I don't want to have to pay for it, mind...) I'd LOVE to like inherit a knee-length or longer, hooded Shearling coat. That would be AWESOME! Unless I had to like dry clean it which I think I would. But still. Awesome. I've really grown to love Shearling coats.
Edit: All this may quite possibly make me a ridiculous person. redface

You're not ridiculous Mel.
Although that wonderfully long explanation coupled with V's collection of weather reports means I'm less scared you'll freze of the winter period biggrin
Now who's ridiculous? razz
