Sony watched as the rook began to immediately run into the fray before everyone else. "I guess someone is kinda excited. Let's get this show started." He thought to himself before reaching into his pocket, grabbing a small pill and consuming it. He then reached into the storage within the vehicle and calmly pulled out the helmet to his custom suit.
Sony then placed the helmet onto his head, before activating the HUD, bringing up the info that Wielder had sent to everyone. It then began to monitor the courses that the other mercs were taking, while showing the whereabouts of the survivors currently taking shelter.
Sony quickly grabbed his High-Frequency Blade, leaving the rest of his swords and the rest of his armor within the storage. He only needed the helmet and the blade since they were only doing light search and rescue.
He then began to run towards the location where the survivors had been located, but not before his HUD began to blip a small pack of zombies on his radar. It registered 15 enemies, all blocking his path to the small building.
Not wanting to waste any time at all, Sony's drew his blade, which suddenly lit up in a blue storm of lightning. He then began to charge into the pack, lopping off heads with precise movements.

Reaching the top took seconds, but what he saw was unexpected. Instead of a dozen slow, lumbering, stupid zombies assaulting a makeshift barricade, there were bigger, bulkier bastards assaulting a relatively well-enforced barricade. However, anyone could see it was weakening. The Metal they had set up was bent, and any wood or similar material had been cracked heavily. And these larger bastards looked like they could have it down in five more minutes. There was nowhere to land- the zombies were so big, they took up the entire top flight of stairs. So, what Wielder did, was Reignite his fire jets with the strength to suspend him in the air. By now, they'd taken an interest in him.
Wasting no time, he sent a strike from left to right, grazing the zombie second-closest to the barricade, and fully decapitating the closest. For some odd reason, his entire body burned up. This created a good defensive space for Wielder, and he used the opportunity to blast into it and set up to defend. Each of them rushed up the stairs, and a couple were pushed over the edge of the railing, and fell to the lower floors.
Their size was intimidating, but Wielder knew without thinkning, that if he hesitated now, he'd be dead meat. There was no way he could move forward, there was simply too much Zombie mass in front of him, but he held his ground and stabbed the next foe in the face. He, too, disintegrated through fire, and Wielder wondered if it was his fire blade doing that- it never had before. But there was no time to wonder, as the next hulk dashed forward to take the place of the other one. Moving from the stab position, Wielder swung his sword down and to his left, using his wrist to rotate it, and then brought it down again on the zombie's head, and cleaving him in two down the center. The next one had the sword swinging up, and the cleave was the same, only moving from the bottom to the top. Total four down, two unknown, three elsewhere, and eight hulking bastards to go.

Alexei remained silent - a trend that was becoming ever more apparent to his new comrades. He didn't need to speak to acknowledge Weilder's orders, and wasting breath on anything but the mission was a fool's errand. He had one goal at the moment, and it was clear he wouldn't be swayed.
Get to the top and secure the hostages.
The Russian didn't take point, or cover the rear. He moved at a pace that was equal to Weilder's. They traverse hallways and stairwells with a fluid ease, and soon they were on the highest floor. What they saw their didn't surprise Alexei. Infected Deviants of some form. It was clear that they were larger and stronger, but whether or not they were faster and better coordinated remained to be seen. The Russian decided to test the theory.
It wasn't difficult, either. Weilder immediately caused a distraction, most of the creatures turning towards the bright light of his flame jets and the loud sound that followed. The Russian didn't miss his opportunity. He came at them low, Matsuhiro cleaving through one of the grunt's ankles, toppling it to the floor. Another loped toward Alexei as his blade's narrow point skewered the fallen creature's cerebrum through its eye. He pulled his blade free and lunged to the side of the charging zombie, snagging hold of its neck in the process. A strong electric whine was suddenly audible, followed by a sudden dryness in the air around him. In the split second after, thick coils of electricity were conducted through his cybernetic arm. The grunt's eyes burst open and bubbling fluid poured from its mouth, followed by the acrid stench and sight of smoke from its orifices. The creature fell, and Alexei was on the move again.
The Russian pursued Weilder as he continued up the stair, ignoring the undead that fell down the stairwell. Their bones would break, and they would be finished later. Their progress was halted by a literal barrier of Infected, filling the hallway too thick to maneuver. It was time to change tactics. As Weilder held his ground and beat back those that attempted to advance, Alexei's XMD whipped off his shoulder and into his robotic hand. With the strength it gave him, firing with one arm was simple and effective. The thumb flicked the munition's switch from its first to second setting. His feet spread to compensate for the impending kick. He leveled his XMD's barrel and fixed his arm's positioning to accommodate for the height of their foes. The Russian raised his voice above the sounds of slaughter.
"Suppressive fire from your right shoulder Weilder."
He pulled the trigger, and the percussive thunder of his XMD's splitter rounds resounded throughout the hallway. Each round came immediately after another, dropping two grunts in the first second of fire. Three more fell in rapid succession as their skulls and shoulders split apart into pulped gore and bone. He released the trigger only to adjust his aim farther down the hall, and resumed to put down two more. By the time the magazine was empty, there was now fifteen feet of cleared space before them. Only a single grunt remained at the end of the Hallway.

The pod hit the ground with a thunderous shake. Despite the loud noise though, the inner chamber was hardly affected by the inertia. Streaks of dawn entered the chamber as the doors crept open. His eyes were lead to the first of very many zombies to reach the drop zone. Clicks and thwacks could be heard from all directions behind him as his fellow mercenaries entered the fray. Nero pulled his lever, but his harness wouldn't budge. He became frantic and tried pulling on the lever and pushing on the harness, and only eventually did he break free, after pulling the lever farther than it should go, and snapping it off it's bolt.
It was only seconds after that the pod was beginning its retreat. "Whew. Well that was close." He said to himself, as he checked his bearing. He noticed he was pretty far behind from the others, and double-timed as Weilder shouted his order. "Assisting now;" He affirmed to Wielder, his jet boots crackling under the pressure of excessive amounts of energy released at one time, propelling him in his desired course.
He ended up flying behind the marked building Wielder was inside. Noticing the amount of undead falling at once using his x-ray monitor, he made his move on the last undead. With a quick jab through the wall, his fast had entered the building, opened, and grasped the zombies neck. As Nero pulled on the zombie by the neck through the hole in the wall, it's neck broke, and its decomposed body followed suit. The mass of undead corpse that Nero held outside the building dripped with bloody ooze and infectious puss. Nero released the mass unwaveringly. His head turned to look through the hole in the building, to notice Wielder, and then to notice Alexei.
He nodded to Alexei, hoping it would be enough for him to notice it was an act of kinship.
They were all brothers here.

With support from Nero and Alexei, the building had been cleared. Now, Wielder stood at the top of the stairs, near the barricade. "My name is Wielder, Captain of the Mercenary League!" he said with authority lacing his voice. "We've eliminated the enemy in this building, and wish to speak with you." He had to speak loudly, because otherwise, they might not hear him through the barrier.
A moment after he said it, a voice came through from the other side of the barricade. "Y-y-y-you're not one of them, are you? Because if you are, I'll... I-I-I'll..." "Sir, we're not infected. In fact, we have a vaccine meant to prevent exactly that, and we're going to begin searching for a cure as soon as possible. But we need to speak with you." "Kevin, let him in! I've heard of this guy!" A woman's voice made it's way through, followed by a "SHHHH!" "A-a-alright, we'll let you in." From the other side, one could hear a number of people taking down pieces of the barricade. Finally, hands were seen coming out from behind the metal sheet they'd used as the primary defense for their barricade. They moved it out of the way. Behind the metal sheet, one could see just over half a dozen people. Three middle-aged men, two younger men, two young women, and one child, hanging on to the hand of an older man, whose other hand held a shotgun. All the men were armed, and the women both had a revolver. All were dressed somewhat casually, jeans and a t-shirt being the mean.
"Are any of you infected?" Wielder didn't waste any time. "No. We've all checked each other. No wounds," one of the younger men replied. Wielder heaved a sigh of relief. That would've been terrible. After a moment, he continued on. "Do you have a leader?" "That would be me, I think." Wielder recognized the voice as being Kevin, the one behind the barricade. One of the older men, about 30 years old or so, stepped forward. "Kevin McTeague." He put his hand forward. "Wielder." the swordsman shook the man's hand. "My men are working on clearing out the surrounding area, and are looking for survivors. Our objective is to get you all out before the government nukes the city, in about seventy-two hours. We want to use this tower as an HQ, for a number of reasons, including it's helo-pad on the roof." "That's fine with me, but..." He looked around at the others, then back. "You said you had a vaccine?" "Aye, we do. And we're doing our best to either find or synthesize a cure. The vaccine will keep you from getting infected, though injuries will still bleed out like normal. We'll bring up our supplies soon, and the vaccine with them."
Wielder hit a button on his eyepiece, and radioed his teammates. "Oi, we've got an HQ. Now, give me an update, who's where?"

Ferregar
Alexei turned his back to Weilder and Nero as they proceeded forward and into the survivors' safe house after the barricade was dismantled. He waited, listening intently for any sounds coming from below. After a few moments had passed and he heard Weilder's voice echo in his communicator, Demyanovich turned and entered their new "Head Quarters." It was rag tag, to say the least. Now that the building was clear and they'd secured its survivors, The Russian spoke to Weilder.
"I will start bringing up supplies."
Without pause, he was descending the stair, walking over the minced corpses of their prior opponents. His XMD slung back onto his shoulder and then Alexei ran back into the street.
Things hadn't changed considerably. The two major differences was that there were far more dead zombies than living, and the rest were scrambling over the corpses to attack.
The Russian weaved easily past a number of them before arriving back at his respective drop pod. His foot connected solidly with the exposed sternum of a charging Infected, and the force sent it sprawling. He collected his duffel and another of medical supplies, tucking them beneath his robotic arm as Matsuhiro rose back into his left hand.
He unseamed another Infected at the knee before mobilizing back towards HQ. Again, the Infected could match pace with Alexei -it was a short distance from the pod, and would not wind him- and after crippling another he was back inside. He dropped the duffels and immediately set to barring the doors before heading back up the stairs.
He unloaded the supplies once inside, and rationed out a designated portion of his medical supplies to the survivors. He ignored their calls of gratitude.
"There is more ammunition in the pods, and other equipment. I need help to unload each of them quickly."

Mugan paused on the roof of a building hearing Wielder ask for an update. "This is Mugan," He responded. "still on route to the three survivors, ETA... three minutes."
With a jump Mugan descended down and landed in middle of a small Zombie pocket. With a spin he decapitated them all with his Large Shuriken and continued on his way to the building.
Seeing the door about to give way he flipped into the air and threw his Shuriken. It flew and decapitated two more Zombies and embedded itself in the door frame. Quickly drawing his Ninjato from its sheath he charged forward.

It had taken Leonard a lot longer than he had anticipated to arrive near the building the Mercenary League was probably going to use as it's base. Mostly due to the fact that while he had been jogging the distance, he picked up exactly fifty of the large hulking zombies Leonard had deemed Reavers. They were about seven feet tall, had larger muscles than most humans, and while fast for their size, could not move faster than an average human. They traveled in a circle around Leonard's shadow, which still hid his body.
Though the Reavers made up the large part of the unit, hidden sporadically in the circle were smaller zombies. They stood only at five feet tall when straight up, but in their hunched over position they were only about three feet tall. What they brought to the group was speed. They could move at speeds close to that of a cheetah, and relied heavily on their long grown nails to do damage.Leonard hadn't decided upon a name for them yet, but it didn't matter, they were effective regardless.
The small unit first saw the one Leonard recognized as K' the warrior. Leonard sent five Reavers in the half demon's direction, three leading a triangle charge at him, with two far out to the side in an attempt to flank him. The zombies wouldn't remember why they were in this formation, but they would hold it until they were in striking range. Once they got with in striking distance there was no definite way of knowing what would happen. He sent another five in the same formation directly after the first group to once again attack K'.
From that point on Leonard sent out the zombies to attack anything striking down zombies that he came across. When Leonard got down to ten Reavers and five of the smaller zombies he stopped sending any of them out. With this unit he would take the building. Leonard walked up to the door as his shadow, then proceeded to have the Reavers in the unit take turns at slamming the door, throwing their shoulder into into the impact. The smaller zombies stayed in the back and looked out at the mayhem, prepared to warn of anyone approaching. The Mercenaries probably hadn't had enough time to reinforce it more than the civilians had. With planned attack from the zombies the base didn't stand a chance.

Everything happened with a speed rivaling that of light. When the pods dropped, everyone had hung on for dear life, including him. Well, maybe only him. It was hard to tell because he had his eyes shut the whole way down. It wasn't natural to drop that far and survive.
As soon as the pod landed, the doors opened, and everyone jumped out, the action started without pause. Immediately, zombies were upon them, and Xeg was among those fighting them off until the barrier was opened and operational. Immediately, Wielder started issuing orders; he, Nero, and Alexie were establishing an HQ and rescuing the half a dozen survivors up there. One of the newcomers to the League, Mugan Xeg thought his name was, rushed off onto building tops in order to go locate three more survivors. K' went with him from the ground. Xeg was about to go help him, when he saw that someone else had taken care of it.
Satisfied that everything in the area seemed to be accounted for, Xeg went to work establishing a perimeter. There were several loose pieces of rubble strewn about the street. Using magic, he picked them all up off the ground, and they rotated around him, like bizarre miniature moons around a planet.
Running around their HQ, he quickly dispatched any zombies close enough to be considered a threat to the HQ building. Ones that were close to him met his blade, while those that were farther away were speared in the head by the rubble that was orbiting around him. Five minutes later, he had rounded the Goodham-Rutti building and was almost out of his rubble ammunition, but several zombies lay in the streets, and the area was temporarily secure.
Xeg heard wielder through his communicator, "Wielder, just finished clearing up the Perimeter, going to start rounding up survivors momentarily."
He took a moment to collect more rubble from the street, replenishing the stock of heavenly bodies that surrounded him. At that moment, he saw several zombies rounding a corner and charging him. These bastards could get really fast. Directly after them came some very massive, hulking zombies that looked like they could rip apart steel girders. He spoke very quickly into his communicator, trying to let everyone be updated and aware before he had to fight. "League, evidence of mutated zombies. I have fast and strong zombies coming towards me. Engaging now."
not wanting to get into close combat with these monstrosities, Xeg quickly pushed his hand forward, commanding the rubble that surrounded him to surge forward. Magically aided and aimed, the rubble collided with the first wave of the fast zombies, crushing and spearing skulls. Most of the fast zombies fell, but a couple were merely crippled, and he hadn't reached the back Reavers at all.
Determined to see where the zombies were coming from, Xeg bounded forward, meeting the last few remaining fast zombies in combat. He somersaulted over them, swinging his blades and decapitating two as he flipped. Another one caught his boot as he landed, and he broke it's neck, along with most of it's face. It lay there unable to move. A fourth one came at him from the side, but a swift downstroke cleaved it's head in twain.
The first of the five reavers he saw came at him, he tried making a swing with his right hand from the side to decapitate it, but it's massive arm got in the way, and Xeg panicked when the blade did not go all the way through the arm and was stuck there halfway. It's left hand now paralyzed, Xeg blocked it's right hand with his arm, while jumping up to kick the thing off him. His attack work, and the zombie staggered back, and Xeg had both of his blades. Landing on his feet, he reversed direction again and jumped forward, landing on the zombie's shoulders and sticking one of his blades in the zombie's head.
Not wanting to deal with the other reavers quite so quickly, or all at once, Xeg leaped over them with magic, and turned the corner of the building. There he saw Ten more reavers and some of the speedy ones heading towards the front door of the building. They were in a guard formation, protecting something he couldn't see in the center of them. He frantically made another call to wielder. "Wielder, Ten strong and five Fast zombies attempting to make a house call. I can't engage, still have four on my a**."

"Roger, Xeg." Wielder replied. He looked into his eyepiece, and silently cursed. Somehow, they were organized. "All units, fall back to HQ ASAP, enemy seems to be working with a hive mind of some sort!" Wielder may have been wrong about what was controlling them, but he was right that they were being controlled.
Moments later, he heard a crashing noise. It seemed to be coming from a lower level, probably the ground floor. It sounded again. And again. And again. By that time, Wielder had identified the source on his eyepiece. A counted fifteen units, ten large and five small, and some anomaly in the middle. They were crashing against one of the doors to the Goodham-Rutti building, the newly set-up HQ. Wielder opened a portal outside, just above them. He could see the anomaly through it, and instantly recognized what it was. "F*ck. Shadowstepper."
"Alexei, we're heading to the ground floor. I want you to use the Electric rounds. Nero, I need you to find Xeg and back him up. Gear..." He said it over the radio, of course. "Get airborne and go nuts. Everyone else, fall back to HQ. Be careful, our opponent is a shadowstepper."
He descended to the ground floor quickly. By the time he had, the door in question was still intact. He switched his eyepiece mode to c-view, which showed all known targets, even through walls. From a fair distance away, he stood in front of the door. He could see the larger zombies plowing into the door. Good. They're all lined up for me. Only three were actually lined up, but it was certainly more effective, considering the method he'd be using, than if it was only one.
He raised his palm, facing towards the door, and sent from his hand a jet of fire, straight towards the door. It first impacted against it, but as the flame kept flowing, the metal began to melt at the point of impact, and a hole opened up. The fire then, as Wielder had planned, shot through the heads of the three that were lined up. "Alex, they'll be in here soon, get set up." He said. Now that the door had a hole through it, it would be easy for the creatures to rip through it. And since they were being directed by something intelligent, he knew that's what they would probably do.
