Letting out a groan Koji stood back up. His muscles screaming in rage a protest like no other. They where trying to lock up but he didn't let them. He walked to where she had pointed to her den. She doesn't want to be with me~ was a stray thought that wandered through his mine and he tripped and fell on his way to the den. He made it to the doorway and leaned against it not being able to go much further.

"Koji!" Kaia cried out when she saw him trip and fall to the ground, ready to go to his aid in a heartbeat before stopping herself suddenly, seeing him pushing himself to the entrance of the den. Approaching him slowly as he finally stopped, she gave a concerned look as she gently gave him a lick on the muzzle. "Are.. are you alright? Let me help." The vixen said with a small, distressed frown, reaching out and lightly stroking at his paw with her own, trying to tell him without words that she was there. She then pulled her paw back, nudging and pushing herself underneath him carefully until the front half of his body was slung over her back.
..It would have to do! Kaia pushed herself and Koji up with a determined grunt, catching her breath before slowly heading into the den with a bit of a satisfied smile across her lips. She thought she'd done a pretty good job, only letting her mate's hind paws touch the ground for a short moment or two. "Here we go.. Oof." Slipping Koji off of her back as gently as she could manage, Kaia let out a sigh. "There. Now you can rest easy, dear."

Koji laid on the ground panting a little bit. He than wrapped his tail around himself nodding incoherently and drifted off to an un peaceful sleep. His tail and paws twitched and all sorts of monsters and demons ran rapid in his head.

Sitting beside Koji as he made himself more comfortable, Kaia kept watch for a good while. Seeing his paws twitch and move as he allowed himself to fall asleep, she reached over, giving him a nuzzle on the shoulder. "It'll be alright." She mumbled softly, tail uncurling itself from around her feet as she stood up slowly, reassuring herself that he was settled before leaving the den on a hunt for some suitable food and water. "I'll be back soon, I promise." With that said, she set off towards the Bamboo Tribe's territory, knowing the landscape fairly well, what with her frequent visits to see her mate, their children, and her brother with what was left of his children.
She'd heard word that things had been bad in the tribes land, but she hadn't expected it to be this bad. Ears swiveling to go backwards against her head, Kaia pushed through the forest of bamboo, in search of the nearest source of water she could remember. It seemed so... empty. It seemed far noisier and cheerful in the past when the tribe had just started up, even near the edge of the border, but now? Pretty quiet.

Koji slept on the floor of the den on aware of his surroundings. Not that it mattered. In his head many things where moving. Like how life was before his mate left and Why she had left. His mind was in turmoil. Had she found another mate or didnt she not want him any more? That's what it kept screaming at him in his dream which turned to a gruesome nightmare. Causing him to whimper in his sleep.

Ah hah! There it was. A small smile situating itself over her muzzle, Kaia padded over to the quaint little pond in her sights. It was deserted at the moment, no one currently in sight, but.. it looked like it hadn't been touched by any other Modifoxes in ages. Kaia gave a flick of her paw at the water's surface, watching as a few small minnows scattered away from the ripples she had made. She knew members of the tribe had occasionally used this pond, but now? A closed lip whine escaped from her. This near constant quiet was beginning to creep her out.
Snuffling around for a hollow stalk of bamboo on the ground, she snatched the first one she could find in her maw, dunking it into the water and allowing it to fill up to the brim. Then, tilting her head so it wouldn't spill too badly, she started off again towards the den in a run.
"I got some water." She said out loud in a muffled voice as she arrived once more, moving towards Koji with the water filled stalk in her mouth's grip. Carefully, she set the small makeshift cup down, making sure it wouldn't tip over before gently nuzzling at her mate's cheek. "Koji, dear."

Koji closed his eyes tight for a second or to. Like a kit that didn't want to be woke up by mom. Finally he opened an eye and looked up at her. "Yes?"He asked his voice coming out in a slightly hoarse whisper. He than moved to get up not truly understanding what was going on.

Kaia couldn't help herself when she saw Koji keeping his eyes closed like a kit with it's mother in the morning, smiling as she came to realize that the action was a little reminder of how their own kits used to act when they were younger. "I went and got you some water." She repeated for him once again, motioning towards the makeshift bamboo cup with a paw. Giving a rub at his chest with her muzzle, then then recalled how she had lashed out at him before, pulling herself back and flicking her ears back a bit.
"I didn't hurt you earlier, did I? Your neck is okay?.." Her voice trailed off slightly as she moved closer to get a good look at the back of his neck. "Can I check?" Kaia held herself back somewhat, being more cautious than she usually was with her mate due to his weakened state. She wasn't going to hurt him anymore, not if she could help it.

Koji nodded to her questions not really listening to them. But he moved so she could do whatever it was she liked. His whole body screamed that he was submissive to her. He really didn't know what else to do

Scooting closer and placing a paw over his neck, Kaia inspected her mate's neck for any bite marks or bruising, looking with searching eyes. Well, that was good. "You're alright." It didn't seem like she'd done anything, really. She brushed the fur on his neck back into place with her paw gently before reaching over and giving him a lick on the muzzle. "I know you.. you probably don't think that I'm your Kaia." She started, flicking her gaze down and letting out a small sigh. "But I am."

Koji laid his head over the females neck and just sat there. It felt comfortable but he still wasn't sure if he was dreaming or not. "If you say so" He said. "Why did you leave?"

'I... guess that's a good thing.' Kaia said to herself, ears going back and tail giving an absent minded sway as he laid his head over her. "I-I honestly don't know." She replied with a short sigh, lying her tail down to rest near his. "I just got that urge to go and stretch my legs for a while, like when I was younger. But it was wrong of me to just leave without saying a word, I know that now." Giving a light grooming lick at his shoulder, she let her ears droop. Kaia didn't exactly know if she wanted to know the answer to her next question. "How were you, while I was away?"

Koji's ears droop at her question and her not giving him much of an answer. He took a deep shaky breath and than let out a long sigh. "Honestly?" He asked than answered knowing she would want it. "Honestly I was only a little worried at first cause I know you like to go explore for a little bit. I figured you would be gone a week or two tops. Two weeks turned into four weeks and I got even more worried. Our kids didn't say they knew and some of them disappear to. I became increasingly worried. My mate gone two of my children gone what next my last two?" he paused for a moment to control the emotion in his voice. "It turned into months and I went looking hoping I could find you and I didn't. Higure and Shinya left the tribe to go start their own life and I let them. I found my half-brother and his mate had done the same and he was moving on cause he was sure things would never be the same and told me to do the same. But i said i wouldn't and you know what i didn't. I became more depressed and just stopped caring about myself. I simply just stopped."

Kaia was alright at first when he began to speak, listening to him intently. Then, as Koji went on, her heart began to sink. She would have thought that maybe Kupe or Chop would have visited him in her absence, but.. it seemed that they didn't... And Higure and Shinya had left? 'They left.' She hadn't been expecting that to happen for a long while. "I-I had no idea. I didn't know..." She said softly, voice trailing off as she frowned and went on to listen.
When he went on to the subject of his half-brother, her heart nearly stopped. He'd been told to just give up on her? Kaia's eyes began to water at the thought, but then began trickling a stream of tears, happy tears, as he spoke of himself not giving up. "I'm glad you didn't." She mumbled with a slight hiccup, still crying as she shifted to lean her face against his chest to hide her face. "I-I'm so glad.."

Koji laid his head on Kaia. He had gone silent after finishing answering her question. He than started to stare off into space like he had been doing often since she had been gone.
He rubbed his head against her. "Why are you glad?"he asked not understanding.
