religion as a basic concept is a particulary bad idea, in that it has caused more pain and bloodshed than any other thing in the known world.
this1 thinks that religion is there to help people fall back on something, when things get hard.
however there are some people who are truly amazing.
this1 thinks of Jesus, Moses, hell even 2pac could be fitted into thid catergory.
religon is a back up but it is very helpful for the majority of th people.
as for personal beliefs this1 agrees alot with gayzilla, in that gaia is the only sort of 'God' one can really depend upon. this1 also thinks gaia is neutral, much like the toa from toasim.

All religions with theologies and dogamas and the like tend to look pretty ridiculous to me, because they are almost always logically inconsistent.

I used to be Catholic. Now I'm a humanist, because I believe that God abandoned me in my hour of need. I AM NOT A SATANIST!!! GAH!!!!
....I'm not a bad person because I prefer to believe in the power of humanity, in the good things that we can fulfill....

I find all religion crazy, but some are more then others. Like Scientology is just the craziest one of all. I sometimes though like to think that a religion, like christianity, is based on just a huge hoax.
Heres my idea:
Jesus, or the man who would be named jesus, actually was sided with the Romans and wanted to humiliate the Jews by showing them how stupid they where. So they faked his crucifiction, by using magic tricks and stuff, and then put him in a tomb. Later on, he came back, and the rest, is history.

Poseius I find all religion crazy, but some are more then others. Like Scientology is just the craziest one of all. I sometimes though like to think that a religion, like christianity, is based on just a huge hoax. Heres my idea: Jesus, or the man who would be named jesus, actually was sided with the Romans and wanted to humiliate the Jews by showing them how stupid they where. So they faked his crucifiction, by using magic tricks and stuff, and then put him in a tomb. Later on, he came back, and the rest, is history. There are a lot easier ways to humiliat the Jews. Like throwing pig excrement on them. Besides, Jews don't even believe in Jesus, and Christianity became the Roman's state religion. If the Romans created Christianity to trick the Jews, then why aren't more Jews Christian and why did the Romans convert? Sounds like a collosal failure to me.

Absurd? ABSURD? I'm appalled at the sheer ignorance presented by the sheer mention of that word in regards to Reglion, the essential and most deep-rooted source of insightful and philisophical thought known to mankind! The fact that your personal and spiritual beliefs do not coincide with another's IN NO WAY gives you the RIGHT to call their personal and spiritual beliefs absurd.
Religion is not just "Christianity and it's divisions", it is the truce of Heart, Mind, and Spirit present in every single human being that composes the very essence of who they are. To take anything so sacred, so much a part of the essence of humanity, and call it absurd is one of the greatest travesties I have ever been unfortunate enough to witness!
There are some who would say that they don't have a religion, and all who do are fools. But that is impossible. Religion is not just a denomination or label, it is the set of personal beliefs that define us as a human being. Whether you realise it or not, each and every one of you is following your own personal religion. If that religion just so happens to fall in line with a denomination currently in existence, then so be it, if not, then that in no way suggests that you lack Religion. This being said, I would suggest that each and every one of you reevaluate what you have said here. The people you are ridiculing, the Mormons, the Scientologists, the Christians, they believe in their religion with all the conviction which you yourselves put into your own beliefs. Simply put, Religion in it's essence, being the deepest and truest beliefs of the Human Spirit, is something to be respected, NOT ridiculed. After all, is this not a Progressive Guild? I'm sorry, but when I accepted my invitation to this Guild it was under the impression that it would be a place of tolerance and open-mindedness, but I am being consistently proven wrong by the sheer ignorance and arrogance I am finding increasingly present thus far. The very creation of this subforum is proof enough that the intents of this Guild in no way include tolerance and understanding between diverse individuals. However, I'll save that rant for another time. In the mean time...
FOR GOD'S SAKE, STOP USING THE WORD "CHRISTIAN" AS A PERJORATIVE! (that applies Guild-wide, not necessarily to this thread)

Um, anyone heard of this thing called 'tolerance'? I'm disappointed that our guild, our guild for progressives, that is away from discrimination against us, is now turning around and putting down religions right and left! Sure, you may disagree, but please, people, a little respect goes a long way! How can you say you are open-minded when there are threads like this left, right, and center???

ok the beginning
the bible says that the world is just over 2000 years old...or something like that...scientists have proved it wrong
the bible dont explane dinosurs
hitler beleived god was on his side...the vatican did not tell him to stop
thousands have died in the name of christianity (crusades)
...the same for every religion...just reworded slightly

LadyArai maybe crazy is not the right word to use...in my opinion islam is the worst religion because it is the most hypocrytical and inhumane one. Ever thought that the Muslim extremists do not represent the larger majority of the followers of Islam, just like Christian fundamentlists do not represent the majority of Christianity's practicioners? Islam, in itself, is incredibly peaceful. Some twisted minds took it and manipulated the words to give them reason to hurt others. Again, a parallel is found with Christianity, in the citing of Deuteronomy against homosexuals and Exodus against witches.
