Becky seemed a bit embarrassed upon hearing Maya's comment about being experienced. She felt she really didn't deserve such a label because three of the four years that had passed since she began her journey were spent in a lab, not out on the road like she should've been.
"Oh, it wasn't as hard as you might think," she commented, trying to wave it off. "Because my dad's a sailor, I already knew a good amount of words in Morse. Plus, Staryu naturally communicate with each other through blinking. It was really just a matter of getting Staryu to refine the blink patterns."
Since she didn't really know what the preferences of Maya's Pokemon were, she just handed the younger trainer a handful of varied berries. At the very least, they'd find something they could tolerate.
Upon being greeted by Venus the Vulpix, Becky's Pokemon returned the gesture. They felt that the newcomers weren't threats, but if that wary Mareep were to try anything, it'd be a safe bet that Sudowoodo would set him straight. Despite her sassy and I'm-better-than-you attitude, she loved a good scuffle. Especially since she had enough brawn to match her ego.
Magby on the other hand, was delighted to meet another fire type. Besides the other Magmar and Magby from Fuego Ironworks, the only other Fiery Pokemon he's met are Ponyta and Chimchar, and there were more than enough of both in the Sinnoh wilderness. He even gave up his coveted spot on Becky's lap to hang out with Maya's Pokemon instead.

"A sailor huh? So does that mean you've had your share of boats? Could come in handy if you ever get on the SS. Anne." Maya nodded, without realizing Becky may have never heard of the cruise ship.
