Alistair smirked at the silence. He sighed and turned, already bored with the 'I'm-a-territorial-faery-get-off-my-property-!' attitude he was recieving. He trotted through the forest, sniffing the late spring air, when he picked up a peculiar scent. His internal instincts forced him into a run. He darted from tree to tree, observing the surroundings. He finally caught glimpse of Annabell. He swooped to the tree tops, observing her as she warily walked through the forest.

Annabell was still walking causiously only vaguely knowing which way she needed to go. She heard twigs snap almost every other step she took. Everytime she heard the twigs snap she would jump, stop, then look around her to make sure nothing big or scary was there then continued walking.

Alistair finally leaped onto a weak branch, and like a small twig, it snapped. Alistair tumbled down the tree, unable to catch his wits or balance. He crashed down in front of Annabell. Usually he would be embaressed by this type of mishap, but his shoulder and back now ached too intensively to make him not care. He cursed in elvish, before whimpering in english. "Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow." he whispered.

Annabell heard the branch snap and stopped just in time for him not to fall on her. She then jumped and started to scream at the same time. She ran to the nearest tree and hide behind it, once she was safely behind the tree she stopped screaming and looks around the tree to see what he does.

Alistair's face cringed as Annabell screamed, but it wasn't the loudest thing he'd ever been forced to hear. He stood up warily, the cuts and bruises becoming non-important. He looked over to the tree, instantly sensing Annabell. He cocked his head to get a better look at her. She looked about 7 or 8. He sighed. He'd frightened a little girl. He cautiously extended a hand. "Hey. It's okay. I won't hurt you." he eyed her gently. "Are you lost?"

Annabell stayed where she was and watched as he extended his hand. She looked from his face to his hand then back to his face again before deciding. She came out from behind the tree, but stayed by it, and said, "Hello. Who are you? No... I'm not lost. Why do you ask?"

Alistair lowered his hand a bit, but kept it at a welcoming stance.
"I'm Alistair. I was wondering if you were lost because you seem pretty scared." he looked around the forest, then back to Annabell. "It's okay though. I can help protect you, if you want." he smiled. He felt sorry for the little girl. He thought it only justified it that he offered his help.

Annabell looked at him and watched his every move. Then finally responded, "I know where I'm going but I just don't like the darkness or being alone. But I need to get there tonight so I have to keep going no matter how scared I am." She heard an owl, jumped again, looked around, then quickly drew her attention back to Alistair. "I would love to have the company. Thanks." She walked over towards him.

"No problem." he smiled. He turned as she walked past him, and started beside her. He brought his hands up behind his head, and rested on his palms. After a few moments of silence, he spoke. "So. Where you headed?"

Annabell was still a little bit jumpy and kept Alistair in the corner of her eye. She said, "To my aunt's house in a really small town that's kinda close to the palace." She lied about her aunt living there, but she knew that there was a little town somewhere by the palace.

Alistair nodded, then sighed. She was much to young to be out by herself. Why would humans be so reckless to let someone so young do that? He inwardly shook his head in disapproval. "So." he thought, trying to make conversation. "Are you 8 or 9?"

Alistair looked at her confusingly, but shook the thought. "I'm 16 too. What's your name?"

Alistair nodded. "That's a nice name. Much better than Alistair." he laughed, a little louder than he entended to.
Anna looked over, catching sound of the laugh. She gripped Sterling's shirt. "What was that?"
Sterling sternly looked in the direction of the laugh. "I don't know."
Anna's curiousity overwhelmed her. She broke from Sterling, and slid into a sprint. "Come on! Let's go look!"
"Anna! Wait!" he shouted, chasing after her.
