Im a very serious RPer. Godmodding and other things are SO ANNOYING. I've had a few of thoes, mostly with RL friends. I have only one RL friend who doesnt god-mod. The Answer to your question, as many others have stated, is dependent on your definition of "Serious" I will try to answer what i believe you ask.

If you are speaking of committed, literate Roleplayers who dont drop out of the roleplay five minutes in, then Yes, there are, but they tend to congregate in guilds, Rather than Barton town, which has quite accurately been pointed out to be full of illiterate roleplayers who dont have any dedication to the roleplays they join, unless the roleplay is a rehash of every other roleplay in the forums. if you seek this kind of gaian to roleplay with, (The literate ones, not the barton town ones.) your best bet would be to search the guilds, where good roleplayers tend to congregate to escape the overilliteracy the bartontown forums tend to result in.

If you were speaking of the non magic, realistic kind of roleplayers, then you are going to be hard pressed here on gaia, as many people prefer the more fantasy based roleplays, for the options they present. after all, its difficult to create a unique character in a realist roleplay. on the other hand, you can always create your own roleplay in the guilds, or barton town, if you have the skills to trim through the join and disappear type roleplayers, and find the good ones, who wont quit before things even begin.

and if you seek roleplayers who dont overpower their characters, you are best to simply tolerate these people, but not be afraid to call them out when they go too far with their dodging, blocking, and general ninjaness. after all, avoiding a few hits is expectable, but as has said, those who dodge a bullet at point blank range, because they suddenly gained the power of super speed, then jumped a building with magically attained convenient super strength can become far too annoying to have to deal with.
