I know there is a way to ship living things. What about those butterfly kits with the caterpillars?
Also, without opening the box he'd be both alive and dead simultaneously. He'd be angry and sleeping at the same time, and also awake and happy. He'd be everything, until the box was opened and this fun ceased.

At which point in time the face of the person opening the box would most likely cease to exist.
I think those caterpillars get shipped when they are still in the eggs. Can't starve or die from dehydration in that stage.

Ah. I'm not sure if there is anything like that for animals, though. Lots of stuff that is essential to us can kill insects, and vice versa.
