Rue Vidai

it's hard to hold pebbles in our hands
we can't find who became the one
we cannot apologize to them
we've got no time to save them
Rue's pencils rested on his paper, poised and ready for more notes. In the moment of silence after the announcer finished speaking and the music for the first number began to play a heavy feeling pressed down on the young man's chest. He felt his skin chill and his mouth went dry. He knew what the feeling was, that sick heavy pressure, like a cold humidity, pressed at both his insides and out. Something wasn't right; he either was going to have a fit right there in his seat in front off everyone or he would see something and just maybe be able to keep himself under control until the feeling passed. The ringing grew louder in his ears, raising high to such a pitch that he had to lower his head and close his eyes.
A chord cut through the ringing and silence, filling the room with music from the speakers and the small group of girls on the stage started to move in their choreographed dance. Rue breathed in deeply and slowly lifted his head back up and watch the three on stage, but he couldn't shake that feeling inside of him. His pulse quickened and he stole a glance at Addy, flashing a smile that was so forced that it made each other expression he made that evening look just stunning by comparison.
A glimmer of light flickered in the corner of Rue's vision, in the direction of the stage. The painful smile faded slowly and left behind a blank stare. His gaze went passed Addison for a moment as he felt a rush of worry; he still wasn't sure if he was about to have a fit. He turned to face the stage, catching another flash of light. He noticed easier now that it wasn't a lighting effect, the light didn't illuminate any faces nor cast any shadows, it just glimmered faintly from an unknown source.
A few more deep breaths just made Rue feel light headed. In his blurred, dizzy gaze he let his eyes drift to the stage floor. Wait... did one of the girl fall? She looked like she was in pain. The girl's mouth was wide open, her eyes stressed with pain, her back arched. She looked like she was having a seizure . The other girls kept on dancing. All three of them. Wait. Three. Drawing in a sharp breath Rue went pale. The girl on the floor wasn't from the original three. The ghastly figure's dark eyes peered out into the audience. The girls on stage did a spin and shook their hips to the beat of the music before spinning back toward the other direction. The unusually long, scraggly arms of the creature laying on the stage thrust out, entangling themselves in the feet of one of the dancers.
The girl pitched forward, her little hat flying off, her hands stretching forward as she feel face first off the front of the stage. Her scream bellowed loud above the music followed by a loud thud. The fall was only a few feet, but she still managed to face-plant on the hard wood floor. The audience stood and the girls stopped dancing and a murmur and gasps took over the room. The music was shut off and a few rushed to the girl's aid. When Rue looked from where the girl had fallen to the stage he couldn't see the creature anywhere. Quickly he turned to look at Addison. Had she seen it? Had anyone seen it? It was too much of a coincidence for one of his visions to have actually hurt someone. It had to have been in his head. Right?
