The cry of the orc was indeed heard through the woods though elven ears where the only thing that seemed to notice the noise for now, the guards around the camp shifted and stired as Rana made her way slowly along the line
"hold your ground"
She told the elves in the area closest to herself her calmness quickly calming the edgy troups in her comand as she made her way along the line confidently her head tipped in the direction of the cry thought it was already gone leaving the forest quiet once again, Mirkwood had always been a quiet place though Rana could never remember it being this silent before ... something was going to happen she could feel it, the troups could feel it and even the trees where beginning to whisper about it.

Outside orc camp, Somewhere along the Western border of Mirkwood
A piercing cry echoes throughout the wood and rouses Ughat from his sleep. The short, squat Orc jumps to his feet from his position at the foot of a large tree and draws his sword, his beady eyes scanning the dark woods for any sign of movement.
Ughat! You old dolt! Didja 'ear that? A lanky, big-nosed orc, Verthurg, hisses as he throws himself against the tree besides his guard companion.
The stumpy orc nods silently as his yellow eyes continue to search his surroundings. Must 'ave been Merle or Greedo...they're the only two dumbasses missin'. We should go alert the Captain. If them two clods go themselves into trouble...best rouse the others and prepare to move out.
Verthurg gleefully rubs his hands together and follows his shorter companion back towards camp. The faint glow of firelight shines through the trees up ahead. Verthurg covers Ughat's back as both footsoldiers scurry back to camp to report. Oooh! Looks like we're going a-huntin' for vermin tonight!

Southern Borders Of Greenwood.
A bitter silence fell upon the forest as Thranduil and his company approached the camp. 'Something is not right, why is it so quiet?' He whispered.
As they entered the camp it became clear that the foul noise had reached even this far. This troubled Thranduil greatly. 'Who knows how many unfriendly ears may have heard it also.' He thought to himself as he went to search for Rana.

Elven camp - Southern Borders Of Greenwood.
Rána sighed as she returned from the outer defense ring of the camp one hand running through her hair slowly doing nothing to calm the nerves she felt under her calm features, blue gaze caught sight of thranduril as he entered the camp and she walked over gracefully to stand in front on him tipping her head in to a slight bow.
"The defenses are in place M'lord"
She whispered in a soft tone lifting her head, her gaze turning back up to catch his a slight strand of golden hair drifting to frame her face slightly with the movement
"The troops grow nervous in this silence ... I take it you made contact with the orc's position by the foul noise we heard from the woods not that long ago"
The elf maiden added thinking aloud her thoughts, she was very quick minded and seemed to already have a few ideas as to what the noise had been all about, she shifted her gaze away from Thranduril and looked around the forest listening to the whispers of the trees though even the great trees of Greenwood seem silent this night ... there silence didn't bode well.
"What is our next plan of action? ... Do we move to a area more easily defended? As I am sure the orcs know of our precence in the area now."
She went silent after that wanting to hear Thrandurils opinion as he did have more experiance in the field then what she could boast after all it wasn't everyday she was allowed on such a venture ... elven maidens where not surposed to fight according to her Adar ... but by the Valar she was as good as any elf lord when it came to a fight.

Greenwood
Galorfil returns home just as night falls and enters his house. Getting rid of his bow he unbuckled his sword belt. Getting his sleeping items Galorfil slowly makes his way to bed.
The next morning looked quite promising. Galorfil got ready and strapped on his sword belt and took his sword with him. Arriving at the practicing area. he drew his sword and started practicing. Finally finishing, Galorfil turned to head home, when he heard the cry of an Orc just out of the forest. Grabbing all of his belongings he followed the cry hurridly. Reaching the end of the forest, Galorfil saw the foul creature sniffing around. Drawing his sword Galorfil lunged at the creature. Metal clashed upon metal as the two spun around attacking from every angle. Jumping back, Galorfil took a breath . Suddenly his leg felt warm. Looking down he realized he had recieved a gash from the creature. Swinging his sword, Galorfil ran at tyhe creature and slashed, then jabbed. Then with one final thrust, Galorfil jabbed the Orc through the stomach. Looking down at the creature, Galorfil kicked the body and receded into the forest again.

- Greenwood the Great -
Rana sighed seeing that no answer was thus coming from her lord and king whom remained silent, the elf maiden turned her head listening to the sounds of the forest growing quieter as night thickened another cry of an orc filling the night air not so far away
"stay here m'lord I will investigate"
She mused softly one hand checking to make sure her sword was loose in it's sheath before starting off her body vanashing in to the darkness of the forest as she went. It didn't take her long to be perched in a tree not far from the scene her bright green eyes watching Galorfil as the night slowly waned in to day
"bit early for a walk in the forest!"
Rana called out softly though remained in her hiding place for now.

Galorfil turns and looks around. His elven eyes didn't see a thing.
"Show yourself!" He called to the voice. He started forward but then thought to himself. He stepped over the dead body and drew his sword, placing his footing and body just perfectly for his favourite sword attack.
"Who are you?" he called once more.

Dropping from her perch the elven maiden landed gracefully upon her feet under a tree not ten yards from the man her long golden curls falling haphazardly around her pretty face as her bright green eyes mirroring the many shadows and sparkling merrily in the dappled light of the canopy.
"My name is Rana, A loyal warrior of King Thranduril and ranger of Greenwood the Great"
She bowed slightly and looked up at him with a bright smile though one hand remained gripping her sword hilt nervously
"What is your name Sir and what are you doing out here alone?"

'My name is Galorfil... I am just a regular Elf who has nothing better to do then too practice his sword... I was out at the practicein area and I heard this fould creature..." Galorfil replied, not moving, "Why are you here?"
Seeing Rana as no real threat for the moment, Galorfil relaxed a little and took a step closer but stopped. The sky darkened behind Galorfil, as night closed in.

"I'm out on Patrol as per request of Thranduril himself, dark creatures are in the forest and we have already spotted several orcs not far from our outpost"
She replied also seeming to relax her eyes remaining on Galorfil just in case though she was glad to know that she wasn't alone and walking the woods, she didn't think Thranduril was listening when she said that she had to go and find out what the commotion was about.
"this won't be the first Orc to fall to a elven blade rest assured of that"
Rana added casting the dead body a scowl

"Yes I agree with you on that... Where are these dasterdly creatures coming from I wonder?" Galorfil looks around at his surroundings and for the first time realizes that there are many places to hide. He feels a little lizy and draws his blade once more.
"This may have been a scout... maybe there are more?"

~ Greenwood The Great ~
"That I do not doubt Galorfil"
Rana replied in barely a whisper that only an elf could hear and her hands swept her cloak aside revealing the decorative hilts of a matching pair of scimitars, fingers curled around each hilt drawing the weapons free slowly with barely a noise as she shifted her weight subtly so that she had her weight centred, not a sound whispered from the woods putting the woman on edge as her head turned slowly trying to spot where the attack might come from.
She was clearly expecting one for the forest was quiet ... far too quiet for what it should be at Twilight, slowly her head turned golden locks bobbing with the movement as she heard the barest rustle of foliage.

Galorfil turned as well, drawing his sword in his right hand. He takes a step closer to Rana and spins around quickly. Nothing. Suddenly he hears the rustlingn of leaves and the crunching of dead twigs underfoot. He turned to Rana. "I can smell their stench. They are close." Just as he finishes, two hideous creatures lunge at the two elves.
Galorfil quickly turns to Rana. 'Ready?" He asks smiling, then charges, Yelling at the top of his voice: "Gurth gothrim Tel'Quessir!"
*Gurth gothrim Tel'Quessir = Death to the foes of the elves.

Rana smiled and nodded her eyes sparkling at the sight of the two orcs, her scimitars snapping in to a cross guard in front of her as her legs gathered under her and then springing her body forward toward one of the orcs one scimitar leading and meeting the orc's parrying blade in a blur of sparks, she glared at it reversing her grip and slowly moved the heavy weapon of the orc aside and with amazing dexterity jumped up kicking the orc in a fierce roundhouse kick her body twisting gracefully through the motion as the second scimitar plunged in nicking the skin on the throat osf the beast that was weiling backward in a daze from the kick and taking advantage of the fact that it's neck was open and undefended. the sharp blade of her weapon drew a line of dark blood as she allowed the spin of her kick to carry her to one side and dropped herself in to a roll a arrow passing where she had been a moment before to burry in to the body of her opponent and dropping it where it stood the dark fletching marking it as a orc arrow.

Galorfil runs half of the way and then stops. He points to a bush that is conseling a hole in the ground. "That is where they are coming from!" He shouts to Rana. Suddenly he is once again aware of the fight around him and he lunges at an Orc. The filthy creature creates a series of jabs and stabs that Galorfil blocks instictavly. Galorfils turn. He jumps and slices. The Orc slashes low and Galorfil jumps, then brings his sword down right through the skull of his hideous enemy. The creature falls and Galorfil kicks the carcas and advances.
