"Dunno about beetles. I seen 'em come up to eat spiders and flies and things before, though." Lilah shot a disdainful look at Deca. She had eaten her share of beetles when times were tough, but what right did the rude little cub have to expect them to give him feeshes. "You find your own feeshes if you want to eat 'em," she said, standing up and moving closer to Teruno.

The struggling beetle sank quickly below the surface of the pond. Lilah sighed. She hadn't really expected it to work, but it would have been nice. Suddenly, something silver and scaley flashed by at the surface of the pond. Fish did eat beetles! Now they just had to figure out how to get the fish to come closer. Lilah snuffled around through the grass at her paws, finally coming up with a small beetle. She tossed it into the water at the pond's edge.
