Before following her mother, Phoenix turned off her iPod and looked down at her hands. I wonder if I can control magic at will, she thought. Maybe if I concentrate really hard... Let's see..." She closed her eyes and put all her focus, attention, and emotions into her soul. When she opened her eyes, she saw a small web of deep violet power in her hands. Her eyes widened and in a second, it dissipated into the air, leaving her exhausted. She looked out the door and yelled, "Mom! Wait for me! Something totally insane just happened!" As she ran out the door she called, "C'mon Heie, follow us!"

And to what I saw your witchcraft element is darkness. Let me show you mine..." As Hecate finished talking she closed her eyes and cupped her hands and concentrated. As she was concentrating a ball of fire that seemed to radiate violet, white, yellow, green, blue, red, and brown. "You see I can use all the witchcraft elements: Darkness, Light, Lightning, Grass, Water, Fire, and Earth."

Excitedly, Phoenix turned to her brother. "Oh, let's see! Go ahead, Heie, try it! It kinda takes a lot of energy, but that's okay. It feels awesome when it actually comes to you!" She turned to Alexa as well. "C'mon Alexa! You too!" She smiled and looked at her siblings curiously. "And mother... Is it possible to have more than one element? Have there been any of your children with more than one?"

"Well there was one Phoenix....and Heie that's just one color it's just red." Hecate said when she saw Heie thought he had more than one color. "But Phoenix she's not living in Camp Half-Blood anymore..."

Phoenix's eyes widened... "What do you mean, mother? Is she.. is she dead? What happened to her?" Her face grew sad at the thought of the girl she would never know...

Alexa concentrated. Colors appeared in her hands. She couldn't tell what they were,but she knew it must be something.

"Excellent Alexa your Magical Aura is Lightning. Not many of my past children have had that element. And.....yes Phoenix she is dead...I had to do it, and 4 years ago she would be 16 today..." Hecate said as her voice trialed off from thinking of her other daughter she had loved much.

Phoenix closed her gaping mouth, having found it sliding open as her mother told the story. "Umm, what was her name? And, if you don't mind me asking, ... Why'd you do it?" She then turned to Alexa and Heie. "I know it isn't the right time to say this but... This is so cool! We all got an awesome aura!!" As she thought about the topic, she spun around to ask her mom a question. "And, err, what exactly can we do with our auras? Like, what does darkness do and how to the auras differentiate?"
