i do have a question tho: "ryoushin" is this plural? if so wat is the singular version? and could u use them both in examples just so i can see how they r used?

Learning and Understanding. But when you introduce your family to others, do you use the "okaasan,etc." or the "haha,ect."?

Lizlav Learning and Understanding.But when you introduce your family to others, do you use the "okaasan,etc." or the "haha,ect."? If you are making reference to a member of your own family, you always use the informal version. So "haha". It's a more humble way of referring to your family.

thanks for the lesson it really helped i didnt know their was a difference when u refer to ur own family and when you refer to someone elses family

Joyce is my mom Joisu wa watashi no okāsandesu ジョイスは私のお母さんです
understand it by breaking it down
Matthew is my older brother Mashū wa watashi no anidesu マシューは私の兄です

Watashi no kazouku wa haha to sobu to watashi desu. My family consists of my mother, my grandmother and myself.

Ahh, I should have mentioned this. The Japanese don't have plural forms to their nouns, so you can use the same word for singular or plural.
