SARL0 i think as long as you keep it in perspective and know that its just made up fiction - maybe, but doubtful - i doubt that it's okay. i also dont feel that reading the harry potter books are right to do. i believe alot of false god books deal w/ witch craft and satanic rights. and Gods word tells us to: Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.how can we read those types of books and put those thoughts into our minds and be obedient to Gods word? heart I agree, i have read books that are fiction, and I'm now not reading them, because how can I when I serve the Lord. To finish that verse, Philippians 4:9 The things which you learned and recived and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. smile Yes, God forgives by why read or watch shows like that?

i think its ok to read fiction as long as you keep in mind it is fiction. i read alot and usually dont read christian books because i have little access to them... but there are books that have good moral and christian ideas even if they dont address religion... and there are ones i wouldnt sugest reading because of content. i think it is a matter of what the individual reader feels is ok to read and what they know will make them stumble.

If your heart is not drawn away from Christ because of it, and making sure that no one else around you is either, then I think it is okay to read a book in which there is a false god as long as you recognize it for what it is and keep the right, Godly view about it.

Take the medieval books and games for instance..... World of Warcraft has fake gods.. but they're fiction......Dragonlance, Percy Jackson, Forgotten Realms, and a lot of other books have false gods..... but it is all fiction........ I consider reading these books a challenge from God..... I read these books with these false gods in them... and it tests my faith...... as long as your faith does not waver and stands strong I believe that it is ok to read and play these books/games........ I also know a lot of guys who play World of Warcraft that are good Christian people whee

A lot of authors make up their Gods in stories so they don't offend existing religions. Also if it's say a book about aliens, well they're are unlikely to have the same name for their God if they live on the other side of the universe or whatever. Just remember fiction is fiction. Enjoy your books and don't think to hard on them. Also if a God that is proven to be false, i.e made up by an author shakes your faith well it mustn't have been very strong to begin with.

They're an established theism, even if not many people follow them anymore. Also I can't believe you mentioned WoW, it made me lol, I never even considered them. But if you think about Wow specifically the humans have the 'Light' which is probably just a polite way of saying God, and everyone else isn't human so they weren't created by God so they wouldn't worship him. Fictional races created by fictional Gods, so I think it fits together well.
