Yay! Phantomkitsune just sent in her quiz, as well. This is going better than I ever thought it would.
I'm still working on the main thread, by the way. xD

Well, I really enjoy grammar. Get to explain the joys of the semicolon to a friend later.

The joys of a semicolon? That sounds promising. Might I ask what these joys are? xd

Implications, really; the ability to join sentences that stand alone while maintaining their independence more than a comma is able.

Aha, of course. Say, I also like that art in your signature. Did you draw it yourself?

Thanks, and no. All of the art in my signature is by other people. I love it.

Scraps 2-point-0 Yay! Phantomkitsune just sent in her quiz, as well. This is going better than I ever thought it would. I'm still working on the main thread, by the way. xD whoop! Well, the thread certainly is handy when a person would like to improve. I know I certainly would! It's been a while since I've done a proper class in English and sometimes I feel I am in need of one... sad

Haha, that's perfectly fine. I'm almost concerned, though, that after my AP English exam on Wednesday, every fabric of my English knowledge will go straight to hell. XD

I suppose it's just like anything else - you keep on working at it and you'll always remember it. I'm beginning to realise how little we were actually taught in the first place. A lot of what I know, I'm teaching myself (or following various guides).

A lot of what I know I know as a result of helping grade undergrad English papers while I was in high school. >.>
I was also lucky enough to take a bunch of really excellent writing classes in high school.

phantomkitsune I was also lucky enough to take a bunch of really excellent writing classes in high school. I didn't have anything like that at school, I'd have loved to have done it though! I think that's why I'm trying to do as much critiquing as I can (and getting critiques where I can) so I can spot much easier where I'm going wrong.

My high school was great for that, and I took way too many English classes. Journalism, Shakespeare, American lit, Intermediate, Creative, and Advanced writing, Film as literature, theatre, and . . . yeah, that was it, I think. In the three years I went to that school. We also had a British lit class and another American lit class. Plus requisite lower-level classes. And a class on Language Usage and Grammar that I never managed to find a slot in my schedule for.

Oh, I think my favorite English classes by far were both taught by the same teacher: one was the Bible as Literature, and the other was an entire class on Lord of the Rings. Both were AMAZING.
Also, Jujy, welcome aboard!
