First off, thank you for inviting me *happy dance*
My name is Rachel, and I'm almoooost 15 years old. [;
I have four brothers.
I love to read, write, and talk about my ideas (obviously v)
And I've been agnostic since I was 11 and atheist since I was 13. I guess for me it just happened slowly since I was really little. I have had the belief that absolutely anything is possible since I was five, but I never knew that what I believed in was a completely other religion until I was around 11 years old. To me if you can give me solid evidence that something is true, something to go on, then you might be able to convinve me otherwise. Ie. I became and Agnostic Atheist because of the theory of Evolution and how much more sense that madethan anything else I had heard so far, and they actually had theories and proof and logic on their side. My mother, whom is Christian, firmly believes that I am going to hell because of my views, but why should I care when I don't even believe in hell in the first place? I can see both the ups and downs of theism in general, like how the belief in a deity and an afterlife might affect the choices you make in life and help you choose for the better but it also helps to seperate society into groups and sections and brings misunderstandings about. I don't mean to offend anyone by what I have said, for that's just how I believe (or non-believe, as the case may be). [:

Hello! I figure I can start with my current -ists: I'm a secular humanist, a naturalist (by that I mean I think that all things "supernatural" are either false or have some other non-metaphysical explanation), and an atheist (haven't thought enough about strong/weak to say I'm one type or the other, though).
I'm twenty-one years old and I was raised protestant. I stopped believing when I was about sixteen years old, but the story is a somewhat dramatic and personal so I don't feel entirely comfortable posting it in a more or less public forum.
I am absolutely not hostile to individual believers and find that sort of attitude somewhat distasteful, not to mention that it's bad PR. However, I do think that religion is generally detrimental to scientific and social advancement and I hope to have some good discussions here. :3
