I think some folk may not have the entire story though. JKD is both a Martial Art and a philosophy. The Martial Art, as developed by Bruce Lee... follows its own philosophy just any other Martial Art with its own precepts towards functionality. However with JKD's huge popularity due to Lee's stardom, the philosophy reached the world. And thus, people applied JKD's philosophy towards their own Martial Arts expression.

But what JKD is NOT is taking whatever arts, throwing them together and calling it JKD. Bruce was very selective in what he added to his Martial Art, thus not just anything can be "thrown in the mix".

There's a difference in following "the philosophy of JKD" and actually practicing JKD. In example, just because I'm throwing elbows and knees doesn't mean that I'm doing Muay... I could even plum, and it still doesn't automaticall mean I'm practicing Muay.
