And it's okay if you don't know what National Service is.
Singapore and Malaysia are probably the only two stupid countries that practice it.

He's referring to compulsory military service. Singapore practises conscription.

Yup, for two years you have to stay in the army and get trained and s**t. And you only get to go visit your family and friends on the weekend... or was it only sunday?
And after you've completed it, every few months you have to go back again for... I don't know how long. About a week or so.
But still, it's troublesome and... relatively pointless.
If they were so concerned about war the government should have started stockpiling more equipment than build a stupid casino that only foreigners are encouraged to go to.

The US kept conscription going til about the '70s, I think. I dunno about here in the UK...
