so says you. xp not that i am denying it. i'd rather not directly make a formal opinion one way or the other. however, i have no problem implying my preference for fantasy. xd

I've been thinking and it seems that The Book of Sex as quoted here presents some useful stat modifier info for the stages of pregnancy as well as some interesting thoughts about effects of spell casting and other activity on pregnancy.

One thing I don't think is useful for me personally from the Book of Sex is the variance in gestation periods for various races of humanoid.

Looking at the gestation period for monkeys (which is only slightly longer than humans), I can see no justification for giving elves a 24 month period just because they live longer. Maybe I know too much about biology and it throws off my ability to suspend disbelief, but it seems to me that hominids, regardless of height or pointed ears, are more similar to each other, than they are to monkeys, and should at least have as much similarity to each other in gestation periods.

Summary: So yeah, I think all humanoid sub-races which are similar to humans in basic ways biologically should also have 9 month gestations.

That being said, I think this information from Book of Sex is very interesting and I appreciate it being posted. smile
